[ penelope makes her way out to the stables one sunny morning, making slow rounds to observe the horses. she, too, is dressed in garb from the old land, although it's not currently her full armor.

she spots jaime up ahead and is instantly smitten flags him down with a friendly greeting. ] Well met, Sir! A right knight to man the stables, I see.

[Jaime's pretty dumb, but even he's learned eventually that scoffing at knights just for being wenches is not such a great idea.

Besides, her manner of dress is familiar. It's... somewhat comforting.] My lady. Glad to see I'm not the only one who knows the back end of a horse from the front.

Seems strange one can thrive in the world without such a skill. [ she moves up to a horse, careful not to spook it (handle animal 14), and thoughtfully runs a hand through its mane ] I'm Penelope Sariel, Divine Champion of the Dawnflower, the goddess Sarenrae.

What can I call you?

Ser Jaime of House Lannister. [He doesn't remember any other titles, if he had them, but Lannister and Ser have always been enough honor for him.] Can't say I'm familiar with that goddess.

Can't say I'm familiar with that House. [ she turns to smile at him ] Sarenrae is most commonly associated with the sun, itself; the incorruptible light of day which allows for no truth remain uncovered, nor any evil to thrive. It graciously lights the true path to redemption to all who seek it, and banishes the damnable, the undead, to their final resting place.

[A moment of pause while he lets her monologue catch up to him and tries to decide if she’s… for real.]

...how nice.

[ she doesn't seem too bothered by his response, and instead just shrugs ] I wouldn't expect a layman to fully appreciate her glory. [ so let her break it down for you ] Sarenrae preaches redemption for those capable of it, and swift retribution for those unable to access atonement, most specifically creatures of night. You know, vampires and such.

[Yeah he's... still not feeling all that appreciative. But he nods along anyway.] I'm all for swift retribution, at least.

I assumed as much, given that sword at your waist. [ it's quite impressive, ok ]

[twinfucker]

[You find his sword impressive do you.] Not a weapon most here favor, I've noticed.

[righteousmight]

[ oh, you know. but no, she really is more interested in the sword...

she turns to her bag over by the stable door she came in through, and nearby is a sheath with a shiny hilt sticking out of it. she'll just go over and grab her sword, as well, which is a bastard sword (or sword and a half) so it's only slightly smaller than his. it also has a magical glow to it, as if it's infused with the sun's light, itself, albeit quite muted in comparision. ] This is my weapon of choice. It is called the Sunsword, the first of many replicas but the most powerful of its kind.

That's... rather shiny. [Seriously wow, magic swords. He hasn't seen many of that.] A beautiful piece of work. Does the glow... do anything?

[righteousmight]

As I grow stronger, so does the sword, it's greater powers revealed over time. It harnesses a great deal of potential, or so I'm told, and is the most powerful weapon against the legions of undead.

I actually acquired it on a quest to destroy a powerful vampire count who had enslaved his entire people for several centuries, including binding their souls to the land.

And did you destroy him?

[righteousmight]

[ that's actually a... complicated story ] When we arrived to his castle, ready to slay the monster, we found his corpse mutilated and bloodied in the entrance foyer. There was a message scrawled in his blood on the wall, supposedly left by a creature more powerful, and more evil, that had disposed of the count, itself, and was awaiting us inside.

That seems like it would solve the problem quite nicely, honestly.

Except we were left with an even greater evil to vanquish.

How did you know he was so great an evil? What had he done besides kill your enemy?

[righteousmight]

As a cleric, I can sense that sort of thing.

Also, being an all-enveloping shadow with a bent toward murder tends to give it away.
