With most of the team staunchly convinced that about to go check out Area 51, they head off to Guadalajara, Mexico, to investigate local rumors of a crash site outside the city. One of the best things about this little trip is that even in February, it's in the seventies, so there's definitely a vacation air to arriving in the bustling city. They'll need to rent a car and head out in the direction of the supposed crash in the flat countryside. It's a fourteen hour flight so get comfortable.

[ the men exchange looks, unreadable, staring at peter before they look back at kali. the man in charge lifts a device from his pocket, waves it in front of each of their IDs, a red scan bar tracing across each and producing a beeping sound. he turns it around, examines the results, then reaches up to his earpiece and says: "Identification relayed."
for a moment, they just stand there staring at each other, but then the far doors open, and a woman emerges, latina and wearing a white dress and heels, instead of the military outfits sported by the rest of them. in spite of this, the men all snap to attention, clearly indicating she's in charge here.
"Stand down," she says, her words slightly accented, as she surveys the lot of them. ]

in the deferential tone of a soldier, though she does not stand at attention, she addresses the lady in charge with a nod of acknowledgment. ] Ma'am.

[ As the woman barks for her men to stand down, Skye gives an audible scoff, looking fairly offended by the sight of her. Disgruntled, she shakes her head and cuts a sidelong glance to her ... well, they're neither friends nor teammates, but here we are. They're her something, and she's glancing uneasily at them. ]
Sorry, it's just— The whole sexy, evil ... It's embarrassing, okay? She could at least wear the uniform like the rest of them. [ She gestures vaguely to the woman in charge, then drops her hands with a marked scowl. Walking straight into an underground government base to collect a spaceship, and she's getting offended over military lady's choice of command attire. Yep. ] You look like you just crawled out of an '80s Bond movie. I'm sorry.

"KAL-510, is it?" she says, looking her over. "I thought that the Pegasus operatives were all considered KIA." she arches one eyebrow smoothly, the question clear. ]

[ ur welcome. ]

Unfortunately, it's not enough to cover the flicker of a smile across her face and the huff of breath that was trying not to be a laugh at the Spanish Inquisition reference. A+, Kali.]

[ she watches the woman with her wide, guileless eyes, pleased with being able to call them her team tbh. they are the fucking best. ]

[Malina is just going to nod her agreement, before raising her eyebrows at the way the woman was appraising her. Yep. That's right. What are you going to do about it?]

"You're telling me that this man piloted that ship here?" ]

[ Skye raises her hand. ]
I'm with him.
[ She points to Peter then, shrugging. ]
And that's why you don't let a man drive. Totally allergic to directions.

[Malina is playing a hunch, but they know it's Peter's ship and Peter knows it's Peter's ship - maybe this could be the bluff they need to at least get close to it.]
If he flies it regularly, he's got to know his way around.

"That was never my question," she says simply, and she looks back towards skye, eyes narrowing slightly. "I've some questions for these two separately." she gestures sharply to one of the guards, who steps forward, gesturing for skye and peter to move ahead, with his gun. ]
Are these the kind of 'questions' you get asked tied to a chair with a single lightbulb overhead? Because pretty sure I've seen that movie.

[She steps forward. Not much, but enough to be in the way.]
So what, you can just snake this out from under me? No. One of my people has to go with you.

Guys. [ She urges in a soft voice. ] We'll be okay.
[ Cooperate, pleads her gaze. She doesn't want any of them getting shot trying to take care of Peter and Skye, and she clearly doesn't think these guys are messing around. Lowering her hands, she steps forward. ]
You gonna take us to your leader? [ There's a briefly sassy look targeted at the hot latina boss girl, deliberately undermining in its snark. ]
no subject
She steps forward as well, mostly because she's most confident in her own ability to get shot and come out okay than in anyone else's. If there's going to be a fire fight, she wants to be the one getting shot at.]
We've promised these two safety, and so far I haven't seen much to make me feel all that trusting. Massive amounts of guns have that effect.
