[ after the birth of her little glowbug, vi spends a couple days in the dragon's light wing getting a hang of being a mom, figuring out diapers (if you expected anything but cloth from this hippie, you're wrong) and how to feed this tiny squirmy thing like how do boobs work??? this comes with some emotional outbursts because she doesn't just miraculously know how to be a mother and finally someone shoves a beer in her hand like bitch relax.

when she leaves after a few days, she can be found in her room still trying to get the hang of everything and watching harry potter or outside in the shade, letting lucia wiggle around in the grass and flowers and singing her an old roman lullaby or hey jude in elvish. hippie baby get. ]

[Once Shayla is born and there's time for Myri to recover from her own birth, she gets her daughter dressed in the onesie that Vi made at her baby shower and heads outside to find Vi and Lucia out in the shade.]

Mind if we join you? [She says, but she's already settling in beside Vi, because pfft like she would ever mind.]

Only if I can hold my niece. [ reaching out to take shayla even as myri sits down tbh, gonna snag that tiny blonde sea flower. which is totally what vi calls her, cooing affectionately. ]

[Myri hands off her daughter and adjusts herself on the grass to get more comfortable. It feels odd to not have her hands busy holding another tiny human, so she leans closer to Lucia and slips a slender finger into the baby's palm for her grasp.]

They're getting so big already. [Still tiny, but bigger versions of tiny.]

[ vi seems just as happy to hold shay as she is to hold lu, curling the little blonde gently up against her chest. (handle animal 18) ]

They're flippin' giants. [ only time vi will ever censor her swearing? in front of myri's baby. not her own, because fuck that, but she will tone down the cussing in front of the littlest knight. ]

Now this is somethin' I didn't expect to see.

[Kyomi has, and always will, have a passion for flowers and gardens. It's likely some inherent kitsune thing... I dunno, I'm sure they could make some, but she'd grow out of it in twenty minutes. [ lucia makes a little baby fist as if to say rock on, but then she hits herself in the face and makes a startled noise that makes vi snort with laughter, more flowers bursting into bloom at her delight, surrounding the baby in a sea of wild flowers. ] On second thought, let's not put metal on her hands just yet.

My mum always said laughter helped her flowers grow, but I didn't think she meant literally. [Kyomi tilts her head to the side and settles her long skirts over her knees as she sits down, thrusting a hand.] Kyomi Kato. Just arrived. Congrats on your wee little one. She's absolutely adorable.

[ she grins, not seeming to give a hoot about her display of reflexive magic. it's so much easier in spring and summer and so much easier when she's happy. which she is, for the first time in ages, so she's not going to be even a smidge of sheepish about her lack of control at the moment. ] I'm Vi. And this little glowbug is Lucia Reedhym.

[Felicity is usually around in one way or another, and since Lucia was born right before her birthday, they're totally having a make up birthday about a week later. Granted, this make up birthday is not all that elegant and basically consists of them sitting outside, watching Lucia as she figures out the world around her and splitting a cake in a box, but it's a good enough birthday for her.

At one point Felicity swings around so that she's lying on her stomach next to the baby, grinning widely at her as she speaks and letting Lucia grab her finger.]

You're aware we're going to be having joint birthdays for the rest of our lives, right?

[That's more to Lucia than it is to Vi.]

Even if your life is probably going to be a lot longer than mine.

I don't think she'll mind that. I can just imagine all the adventures she's going to get into with Aunt Felicity. Shopping in Paris, teaching her how to case museums and bypass security grids.

[ she laughs, leaning back on her elbows. ] She's gonna have a varied skill set.

I'll teach her to tie her shoes and pick locks. Practical skills every girl needs to know.

Truly. [ she plucks up a stuffed bunny (his name is finnick, she wasn't even subtle) and snuffles his nose against lucia's belly causing her to make a bleat like a laugh. ]

Gonna have so many skills to take on the next big bad.

She's not gonna eat sticks or anything, is she? [ amazing parenting questions from kat as she walks up and watches the baby wiggling in the grass ]

I dunno, maybe. She faceplanted in some dirt this morning and I think she ate some. [ she shrugs, relatively unconcerned. ] She can't really chew yet though, so sticks are probably off the menu.

I guess dirt pies never hurt anybody.

I'm sure you fed quite a few to the kids you went to preschool with. [ this seems legit, tbh, vi can see kat still doing it.

she leans back, pushing her hair over her shoulder. ]

[Elena plops down in the grass next to her, watching the baby with a wistful expression on her face.]

Think she'll get mad if I pick her up?

[ lucia coos at elena's voice, new person!!, kicking her little feat like she's trying to jump right into elena's lap. ]

I think she'll get mad if you don't, honestly.

[She chuckles, reaching forward to pick up the little bb in her hands and pull her close to cradle her in her arms (handle animal 13).]

[ man, lucia is so happy to be snuggled up in elena's arms, batting her hand at elena's chest like can i have these too? but then she lets out a tiny infant yawn so elena's boobs are free of being continually fondled. ]

We might be a little biased, but she obviously loves you. Why wouldn't she, first person to ever call her beautiful. [ the way vi looks at her friend holding her baby so gently gives way to how important that was to her and how grateful she is. maybe it's the hormones still wreaking havoc in her body, but just looking at them makes tears spark in her eyes. ] I'm so glad she gets to grow up with you in her life. If anyone can teach her to be comfortable in her own skin, it's definitely you.

[Rose isn't among the first to come and visit Vi and Lucia after the latters arrival. It's a little known fact that babies scare Rose a little, the brunette knowing what to do when facing an army of vampires but completely clueless when it comes to a tiny person whose main goal in life is to eat, sleep, cry and poop as much as possible.

Her lack of immediacy could be because she's never been around a baby before or maybe, it has more to do with the fact that this was Luthir's child and the Dhampir was painfully aware that her presence might serve as a sad reminder of who should be there with them.

She doesn't avoid for too long at least, seeking Mom and baby out soon after Vi has taken to getting out and about, approaching the pair outside under the shade of a tree with a tentative smile on her lips and an awkward stance as she's caught between sitting and remaining standing.]

[ lucia is her own reminder every second of the day that luthir isn't there. vi has had time to settle. when rose approaches she offers a smile. ]

It's good so long as you don't mind me whipping out a boob to fee her in a couple minutes.

Not as long as you're good with me being here while you do? [In other words, she doesn't mind at all and confirms as much as she folds herself down on the ground next to Vi and Lucia.]
