[ she laughs, licking her cone before answering. ] The guy from the convention, the one who was talking about the "Gift of the Lethe".

Oh, yeah, him. Why do you wanna see him?

[bittersweeter]

His whole thing is trying to find those little threads and turn them into a tapestry, wasn't it?

[watchmaker]

Yeah, but ... you really think he could help me?

[bittersweeter]

[ her shoulders lift in a shrug. ] I don't know. It couldn't hurt though.

[watchmaker]

It's up to you. It obviously doesn't have to be now or this trip. But it's an option. [ she fishes the rental car keys out of her pocket that, technically speaking, she isn't allowed to rent because she's not old enough. clearly that was not an obstacle. ] Do you want to drive or do you want me to?

Oh, you can drive if you want.

[bittersweeter]

Great. [ she nods, pleased with that answer, and heads for the car, still licking her cone. she loves to drive, but she wanted to give him the option. ] Let's go.

[watchmaker]

Okay. [just gonna eat his frozen yogurt on the way to the car and hope she doesn't notice how he completely ignored her question about donny.]

[bittersweeter]

[ it was more of an option so she didn't expect him to answer, frankly. pressing the key fob, she unlocks the doors as she finally reaches the cone, crunching into it as she slides into the driver's seat. ]

I love New York.

[wheee he gets in the passenger seat with his lil froyo cup] Enough to move back?

[bittersweeter]

[ with zero hesitation: ] Yeah.

[watchmaker]

Really?

[bittersweeter]

Yeah. I'm a New Yorker, this is my home. [ she pops the last bit of cone in her mouth, chewing while she pulls the car out on to the road. driving like a professional new york maniac. (drive 22) ]

What about all your friends in England?

[bittersweeter]

[ she shrugs. ] There is this invention called a plane, you recall I used to spend my weekends on them coming to see you.

[watchmaker]

It's up to you. I'd go wherever you'd go.

[bittersweeter]

[ she glances over briefly, smile soft as she turns her attention back to the road. ]

You'd just drop everything and move back home if I wanted to?

[watchmaker]

Yeah. The other stuff doesn't really matter to me. You're my home.

[bittersweeter]

That was the sappiest shit I've ever heard. [ but she reaches over to take his hand and she looks utterly pleased to hear it. ] Feel free to mention it any time, I think I could stand to hear it more often.
