[ jaina shows up with miles in tow, wearing her usual leather jacket and jeans combo tbh. she did not assume this was a dressy affair. ] I take it this is the place.

Miles also brought his squire along, so Poe can speak up whenever, too.]

[Poe had been told that he should come and join the people in this room at this time because he would be able to feel a bit more like home. Which would be why he was strolling in with the tiny orange droid at his heels.

Seriously, BB-8, you can let him move around the castle on his own. He isn't going to get kidnapped or fall down the stairs or something. You should trust him more.

He sees the mini buffet and beelines for that first. If nothing else, these Earth people have great food. Especially these things that they call crisps. Or was it chips? People told him different things and it was a bit confusing. He just knew they tasted like tubers and salt and he couldn't eat just one.]

[ Truthfully, Rey thought twice about going when Jaina invited her. It seemed intrusive, but then, she's never had anyone to celebrate Life Day with before; on Jakku, it was like any other day, barely registered except as a way to mark the passing of a year. There had been fifteen of them since she was left there, and she can't accurately recall what her family had done, if anything, to mark the occasion prior.

But she doesn't shrink as she enters, instead glances around with tempered curiosity at the Christmas decorations that pervade the castle, still perplexed even after Clark's thoughtful explanations.

She decides that she likes it. The atmosphere is warm, and Jaina, Miles, and Poe seem to be getting along well enough.

She decides it, and then she sees him. It takes her a moment to recognize him—he has a new jacket. Or perhaps an old one. But more notable are the lack of deep lines in his face, the smaller nose, the lack of silver in his hair, and she can't help but look like she's seen a ghost, freezing mid-stride on her way to greet Jaina to instead gawk at Han Solo, standing before her as though he hadn't been run through only a few weeks past. ]

[For a family dinner, there sure are a whole lot of people Han doesn't know here. But whatever, Life Day spirit or whatever. He scratches Chewie's head and raises his eyebrow at the girl who's staring at him so intently.]

What?

[Sure, he has a certain level of notoriety and also esteem back home, depending on the circles you run in, but here he's mostly been anonymous.]

Han ... Han Solo?

[ She takes a wary step forward, voice softly dubious, suddenly quite dizzied by the movement of others around the room as if they're all whirring parts at a breakneck speed damaging her focus. It's a question she almost can't believe she's asking, but it's him, it has to be.

Except that she watched him die. Languished on the platform above him, howling her own agony through tears because he was the closest thing she'd ever had to a father, and Kylo Ren had taken him from her. She could feel again the biting cold, the fresh pulse of rage, the murderous impulse of vengeance gripping her, but only for a heartbeat. ]

Yeah, that's me. What? Do I owe you money or something? [He looks over at Jaina like what is going on. Who is this person, even.]

I've got a strict "if it was before the veil, it doesn't count" policy. I don't remember it and credits don't mean anything over here anyway.

[flyingsolo]

Wait. [ jaina looks between them uncomfortably ] You know him?

[ A shadow in the back of her mind whispers reminders, prompted by Jaina's question. The father you never had. He would have disappointed you. But she doesn't remember being disappointed: she remembers Han, with Chewie and Finn, storming Starkiller Base to find her and destroy it. They didn't just come back, they threw themselves into danger to come find her.

She has to blink herself in a fluster out of the memory, tears brimming, and she turns quickly away from Han to grip Jaina's arm, hushing her voice to ask, ] I don't understand. He was older, much older. And he— [ She drops her hand, straightening, throat closing up. Jaina Solo. The similarity in their features is unmistakable, and her eyes skate between them. ] … Are you his sister?

Sister? [Han grimaces. He knows the age difference between them is... confusing, but it's still too weird a thought for him to accept. She's his little girl, even if she's not really that little.]

Jaina's my daughter.

[flyingsolo]

It's... complicated. [ jaina eyes rey up, lips pressed together tightly as it sinks in that the girl is not only from their world - but knows her father when he's grown.

and apparently not her. ] How did you know him?

[forcevisions]

[ Daughter. It winds her in a way she hadn't imagined, and she blinks through it. Had something happened to her, back where Rey was something? As much as it would explain what had become of Ren, she couldn't help but feel like it didn't quite line up. If Kylo Ren had a Jedi sister, he would have had to …

Kill her.

Standing there felt like being in a graveyard suddenly, and Rey was quiet as she formulated her response in pieces. ]

He was there when I … [ But how to quantify it? When she watched his own son kill him? When she was trapped aboard Starkiller Base and broke herself out using some kind of mind control? When she stole his ship and used it to return a droid to the Resistance? No. None of it was so simple. She shook her head. ] He was a friend of mine. [ Reducing it to that hurts, but she smiles through the pain. ]

And what of General Organa? [ She looks to Han. ] Is she here? [ To Jaina: ] Do you have any siblings, or is it just you?

[Poe is just going to come over and gently put his hands on Rey's shoulders]

Rey, take a deep breath. It's supposed to be a party, not an inquisition.

[ Leia's a little surprised to see so many people - people she doesn't know - but her surprise is masked with an easy smile as she approaches with her arms loosely folded over her chest. She's caught the snippet of conversation that indicates this young girl knows Han.

And, she knows her. But- ]

General Organa?

[cuivre]

[Miles will just stand near Jaina, because things just took a really weird turn.

The Veil sure did like to fuck with people, didn't it?

[Han gives Leia an easy grin and stands up finally, walking over to her and slipping an arm around her.]

You've had a lot of titles, but I can't remember that one ever coming up. [He turns back towards Rey.] She has a twin. Jacen. But he ain't here, as far as we know. [He raises an eyebrow.] Was a friend of yours?

[forcevisions]

[ Rey looks at Poe suddenly, then back at Leia and Han. ]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ... [ What had Poe said? ] This obviously isn't the time. [ Then, more intently, ] Thank you. [ for having her at what is her first holiday event in memory, with the actual people she's had familial experiences with. If only Finn were here. ]

[ She spares a smile approaching something a little more tender for Han when his arm wraps around her. Though, she doesn't indulge him for long because there's a young girl who apparently knows them well and seems a little unsure at the moment.

The Veil being what it is, she's used to memories being muddled. And she still wants to know when exactly she became General Organa, but that doesn't take precedence at the moment. Leia's eyes flicker to Jaina briefly, another soft and tender look in her eyes before she focuses on the other girl. ]

Rey? [ That's what the other man called her, right? ] Why don't you tell us what you can remember. [ Maybe it's not the time, maybe it's better to speak privately later, but she's sure she's not the only one who would welcome more of an explanation (and Han's question is a good one). If Rey is willing, that is. ]

[ Rey looks from Leia to Jaina, a searching expression heavy in her eyes. She wanted someone who had no idea what she could tell to give her the answer of what was right, and it was a few moments before she realized that Jaina could not give her this answer. ]

I didn't know any of you for very long. I met Han Solo after I stole his ship to return a droid to the Resistance, lead by General Organa. [ She points to BB-8. ] He helped me return it once we told him it had a map to Luke Skywalker.

[ #cliffnotes. ]

I was getting ready to use that map to go find Luke when I came here.

[flyingsolo]

Luke. [ jaina repeats the name, although there's no sign of personal familiarity to the name - just a recognition, as she looks to her father. ] ... Uncle Luke? [ there's a note of hesitation in the name, if only because she's only heard about the guy and she's never really ... put the title with the name like this ]

[parsecs]

[Han nods.]

That'd be the one. But I don't know why we'd need a map to find--

[He breaks off and looks over at Rey, forehead creasing.]

Wait, you stole my ship? What's the Resistance?

[newgenwraith]

[Poe is just going to sigh and have a seat because, well he doesn't remember any of this. Because, as Miles put it, the Veil sure does like to fuck with people.

So he's going to just sit over here near Rey and, like any pilot from his galaxy, just find a drink and sip on it. And maybe nibble on those little bread wafers.

BB-8, however, is not going to abandon Rey and will roll up to her side and nudge her leg. He wants to know what he did after all.]

[forcevisions]

Oh, of course. [ She looks down at BB-8, smiling her relief at the familiarity of his earnest requests. ] You were the one holding the map. We never would have found him, if it weren't for you. [ But her genuine fondness breaks as she looks up with great grief at Han Solo and Leia, considering between them what they must not know, couldn't possibly. ]

The Resistance against the First Order. [ She shakes her head. ] I don't know many of the details, to be honest. I grew up in the outer rim, on Jakku. But even we heard enough to understand the bravery it took to stand against the First Order. [ Some on Jakku would call it stupid, not brave, but Rey had always idealized the Resistance—even imagined that her parents might be some part of it. ]

[ Someone managed to steal a ship from the great Han Solo? There's a brief smirk on Leia's face, hinting at pride as she leans a little more into Han.

That Rey was searching for Luke (the brother Leia has no memory of), though, is a little disconcerting. ]

You'd only just met us, and you did all this?

[ It's safe to say she's impressed. ]

The hell's the First Order, anyway? Some new enemy?

[Han glances down at that smirk, ready to be annoyed, but she's leaning into him and, well, that part's kind of nice.]

None of this makes any sense.
