Okay. So weird black hole wormhole type thing.

Little of both, actually. Or ... they're both words for the same thing.

[Just to clear up the terminology that they're both using.]

We call it the Veil. Originally, we thought it was just the barrier that existed between our world here and the Shadow World, but recently it's started pulling people from all different worlds.

[Poe nodded, and looked down at BB-8 to see if he was getting all this before both he and the droid looked up at Malina.]

Shadow World...?

That's what the people here called it at first, because people from there seemed to appear out of the shadows. But we later learned that it was a place called Faerun.

[farmgirlfighter]

[ At the mention of Faerûn, Gaz sits up a little straighter, finally invested in the conversation. ]

So first, this Veil brought people here from Faerûn, but now it's bringing people from gods know where?

[bredinthebone]

[She nods.]

It's only a recent thing, over the past couple years or so, but yeah. All different kinds of worlds with all different kinds of rules and magic and technology. But as much as we'd like to know more, what we actually know about the Veil compared to what we need to know, probably fits in this coffee cup.

[And she will hold it up to illustrate.]

And how does one get this Veil to open up and send us back home?

[farmgirlfighter]

[ This is relevant to Gaz's interests. This place is nice and all, but she's fairly sure she was in the middle of something before the Veil intervened. ]

You... don't.

It only opens one way.

[bredinthebone]

[Malina nods, before pointing to Jania as though to say "what she said."]

It's kind of like quick sand. You step in and once you're through to the other side, you don't go back.

[newgenwraith]

Well ain't that a load of bantha shit. [not a happy snowflake] So we're just all trapped here for the rest of our lives and can't even tell the people we care about why we ain't coming home?

[bredinthebone]

[She gives a small shrug.]

Unfortunately. That's the way it's been since the Veil's begun - but that doesn't mean people haven't tried to change it.

[farmgirlfighter]

[ This is not the news Gaz wanted to hear. ]

So what are we meant to do in the meantime?

[newgenwraith]

[Poe sighed, running a hand through his fluffy hair before he looked down at his droid. BB-8 gave a mournful tone, nudging up against his mater's leg. He took a deep breath, and then looked up at the group]

We adapt. [he smiled at Gaz] Until another option presents itself, we adapt.

[alex who has still totally been here the whole time, pipes in with]

That's the best and only way to look at it.

[bredinthebone]

[Malina nods in agreement.]

Poe's right. Adapting is your best bet. And you guys are lucky - a lot of Shadowkind have wound up in way worse places.

[BB-8 made a nervous whistling noise]

Not sure I want to know what those worse places are either, buddy.

I'm sure you'll run into them if you decide to stay on here.

[farmgirlfighter]

[ Gaz thinks about where she came through the Veil: in the middle of a desert, outside a village whose people were being terrorized by warlords. ]

Trust me, you arrived in one of the better places.

[newgenwraith]

Well so far, the reception has been nice, that's for sure.

[She smiles a bit at that.]

So there something I can crash on?

You'll have to meet with our leader first, but after that, I'm sure we'll be able to find you a room.

The digs are pretty nice, depending on what you're used to.
