[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies. This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.

Mostly it's... [She hesitates, words stuck for a moment.] Well it, works itself out.

[Once she's sure Dawn is with her, Rose breaks into a gentle jog, not pushing herself too hard, not yet anyway.] I'm Rose, by the way.

[Cause with all the Slayer talk she forgot to say that part.]

Yeah, something like that.

[ She falls into step (or jog, rather) beside Rose, though it seems it's a bit more work for her. Dawn really needs to get in better shape. ] I'm Dawn.

So where've you been anyway? [Glancing in her direction as Rose probably makes the jog look... too easy tbh.] I figure you can't have been around much for the last couple of years.

[Cause well. New York was. A while ago and Rose is used to every man and his dog knowing about her being sent by Wynn to hunt down Kyp. And why.]

[ She really does. Rose, that's so not fair, making this look effortless. Whereas Dawn is huffing and puffing a little, but still keeping up. ]

Yeah, it's... been about that long. Missions? Going in and out of other offices. Getting the whole whirlwind tour, of sorts.

[Sorry Dawnie. She's bee doing this morning and afternoon every day for years now. Add Dhampir to the mix and welp. She at least, tries to keep her pace slow enough that it shouldn't be... too intense.]

Other offices? [She looks surprised, despite hearing of it, mostly because she's always been based out of London.] Like it better at main headquarters?

[ She's just going to quietly lament the loss of Slayer powers that she never really had in the first place. It's okay. This is fine. ]

Eh. [ She shrugs. ] They're okay? But here, this is home.

Yeah... [Thoughtful as she sets the pace.] It is... but I think home's more about the people than the place.

[ Dawn wants to agree, but... she doesn't have any people. She feels that way, at least. She'd barely put in a year here before spending two years being rootless. ]

You're probably right.

[She's not the most perceptive person in the world but at least she offers more as they jog the grounds that surround the castle.]

It took me a while to find that and I had to leave here to get it but... [But it wasn't just Dean who she considered home.] Coming back again made me realize what I did have.

[Which... is far too sappy for Rose to allow to stand so of course she has to keep talking, as if to lessen it or lighten it.]

Man I sound like some, self help book for losers. [Chuckling as she shakes her head.]

No, you don't.

[ She looks over, smiling, encouraging. Dawn can only wish she had something like that, someone like that to feel sappy over. ]

You found it. Some people spend their whole lives looking and turn up bupkis.

Took a few wrong turns don't get me wrong. [The lightness of her tone concealing the hideous truth of those words. (Bluff 22).]

But things worked themselves out.

[ Dawn's going to completely believe that (sense motive 10) and possibly even feel a little comforted by it. ]

And that's the important part in the end. Things working out.

[There's a tightness in her smile but she still nods her agreement.]

So what is exactly is a Slayer anyway? Is it just a fancy name for a Vampire Hunter?

Yeah, kinda. [ Her head waggles side to side, considering how to approach it. ] Vampires, demons, all the spooky things that lurk in the dark. That's the Slayer's purview.

[She squints a little and then, to explain it.] Kind of sounds a lot like being a Knight.

It is. It's one of the reasons I was all-in on joining. Super familiar work? Yeah, I can manage that.

[Confusion wrinkling her brow.] Wait - but you said you're not a slayer?

[She doesn't understand your life Dawn!]

Well, I mean, I thought I was. Cause really, the only memories I came through were these vague, hazy things of research and demons and fighting and the concept of the Slayer. [ She shrugs, looking as unsure of it as Rose probably felt. ] But unless the Veil robbed me of my powers as well as everything else, I'm not one. But that doesn't mean I don't feel so call to help others.

My experience, that's about the only thing it doesn't take from you. [Which can be a real bitch when you drop through the veil and you can see dead people but you don't know why...]

I get that at least. [The call.] Well that and it's pretty much the only thing I know how to do.

[ She snorts a laugh. ]

Aside from translating dead languages, I don't really remember doing anything else either.
