The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many. Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility vaguely near Las Vegas: agreeing to work alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization to find a way to take down Blade. It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return. Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

Most of the facility is underground, and the Knights are each granted badges that will act as keycards to get them into the barracks area that has been sequestered for them in its own building (called the Enclave), as well as to access the other rooms that are open to their use. It is more or less similar to this, but scaled up in size to account for the larger numbers of people housed on base. There are separate buildings on the base compound for the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (The Sanctuary) and for those members of Hellsing (The Bulwark) who have relocated as well. The entire compound itself is referred to collectively as "The Harbor". Peter Fargason will continue to run training drills daily, attempting to mold the Knights into a more efficient combat unit, and Hasmed, Solace, Koraith, Dovan, and Lis'sa will continue to assign missions to members of the Knighthood, ostensibly aimed towards slowing the tide of monsters and evil doers heading to Los Angeles and protecting Shadowkind in America from the "war on Shadowkind" being waged by the American government, as non-humans are being rounded up as potential threats to the country. Hasmed and Solace have assumed joint leadership of the Knighthood, and appointed no Dragon's Claw to replace either the deceased Sir Bancroft or the now gone rogue Sir Chessing.

Gone is the eclectic decor of the castle rooms, replaced by a much more uniform look to each assigned barracks, which, unfortunately, sleep two to a room because of restraints on space. Feel free to sign up for a roommate on the thread on this post. In fact, everything here is much more polished, state of the art, and modern, which is a jarring change from the castle. How well people adjust may depend on quite a few factors... but for now, they are free to attempt settling in.

I'm assuming that you're judging them for their chosen location versus their chosen activity?

[Because don't get her started on how horror movies like to handle female sexuality at times.]

No, definitely just the location. Let them paw at each other all they want. Just stay away from creepy locations on foggy nights. [He pauses] Actually, maybe that's their thing. Who am I to judge?

[The monster starts to emerge on screen] Annnnd they're gonna die.

[She laughs.]

I mean, there are certain tropes they just have to hit, otherwise it's not a horror movie.

[badexample]

This kind of horror movie, for sure. But then again, the best parts about these movies are how bad they can be.

[He idly mouths a few lines of dialogue along with the characters on screen, very clearly familiar with this one.]

[She smiles at that, before nodding.]

Ain't that the truth. Sometimes you just need to laugh at terrible special effects.

Exactly! Not many people get it. They want to treat it like a movie that's actually good. And y'can't do that. Misses the whole point.

So does this fall under the category "so bad it's good" or "needs to be bad to be good"?

I'd say it's more 'so bad it's good' but that's how I feel about most of 'em.

It's a valid way to feel.

Movies are such a subjective thing, you never know what's going to push the right buttons for the right people.

So what's your go-to, movie wise? [He's fine with talking through some of the less important plot points. Plus, he's seen this basically a million times.]

Promise you won't laugh?

[Because it's not a horror movie and it's dumb, it's so dumb, but it makes her so happy.]

I've had enough people give me shite for liking these to laugh at anyone else's taste.

Heist movies. I really, really love heist movies. The more ridiculous the better.

[He grins]

No shame in that! Different kind of over-the-top, but same idea as these, I think. The absurdity of our lives can only be outdone by some truly ridiculous movies.

Exactly. Also who cares if it's unrealistic? Isn't that the point of the escape?

Plus, as someone who has been surveillance on some missions that would be pretty close to heists? They're not always that far off. Some wild stuff happens out there.

They always say no plan survives first contact with the enemy. Eventually you gotta throw it out and get creative.

[Which is whee the fun starts, in her opinion.]

Oh yeah. [He nods] And if you can't get creative in a movie, what's the point? Entertainment is the name of the game, after all.

Exactly. If they solved their problems the way everyone solved their problems, then it wouldn't be a movie.

[He nods and wonders briefly if he can track down any good heist movies for the next movie binge.]

How are you settling in, by the way?

[She shrugs, because it's a little good and a little bad.]

Would have been nice if we could have been somewhere a little closer to a natural water pool, but beggars can't be choosers, I guess.

[But that isn't the big thing.]

Bea's worried. About me, about everyone. I think she would have been much happier if I stayed in London, but I wasn't going to let her do this alone.

Bo and I had a long talk about our options. Especially with the baby, it was hard to know what the right call was. We're lucky my parents were willing to look after him while we... try to save the world, I guess. But I think it's better this way- us being here with them, helping where we can. I know I'd just be worrying myself sick otherwise.

[nonconfrontational]

[She nods in agreement.]

And I know I'm not a Knight anymore, but that doesn't mean I'm not useless. And this is my world too. I want to try and protect it, too.

[It isn't exclusive club that only the Knights can be apart of.]

I'm not going to stand aside when I could be helping.
