The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many. Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility vaguely near Las Vegas: agreeing to work alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization to find a way to take down Blade. It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return. Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

Most of the facility is underground, and the Knights are each granted badges that will act as keycards to get them into the barracks area that has been sequestered for them in its own building (called the Enclave), as well as to access the other rooms that are open to their use. It is more or less similar to this, but scaled up in size to account for the larger numbers of people housed on base. There are separate buildings on the base compound for the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (The Sanctuary) and for those members of Hellsing (The Bulwark) who have relocated as well. The entire compound itself is referred to collectively as "The Harbor". Peter Fargason will continue to run training drills daily, attempting to mold the Knights into a more efficient combat unit, and Hasmed, Solace, Koraith, Dovan, and Lis'sa will continue to assign missions to members of the Knighthood, ostensibly aimed towards slowing the tide of monsters and evil doers heading to Los Angeles and protecting Shadowkind in America from the "war on Shadowkind" being waged by the American government, as non-humans are being rounded up as potential threats to the country. Hasmed and Solace have assumed joint leadership of the Knighthood, and appointed no Dragon's Claw to replace either the deceased Sir Bancroft or the now gone rogue Sir Chessing.

Gone is the eclectic decor of the castle rooms, replaced by a much more uniform look to each assigned barracks, which, unfortunately, sleep two to a room because of restraints on space. Feel free to sign up for a roommate on the thread on this post. In fact, everything here is much more polished, state of the art, and modern, which is a jarring change from the castle. How well people adjust may depend on quite a few factors... but for now, they are free to attempt settling in.

[That's mostly to the wolf, not the girl who let her in, but Rosario's just going to plop right down onto the floor to hang out with him because why not (handle animal 14).]

Honestly, I think you'd be okay. A lot of magic users brought their familiars.

But a familiar is the companion of a Mage. It is... unusual for somebody such as myself to have one.

[ Not unheard of, but certainly not the norm. ]

I thought perhaps with him being a wild animal, it might be frowned upon?

[ Though it's hard to imagine how anyone would have a problem with the little wolf, who after just a moment of enjoying being petted... begins to try and playfully nom on Ro's fingers. ]

There's a druid a couple rooms over who has his bear here. I think you'll be fine.

[And she will totally let her new wolf friend nom on her, because what a good pup.]

I think so long as he isn't running around and causing property damage, you should be fine.

Perhaps you are right... [ But she doesn't sound so sure, her unnaturally blue eyes filled with concern as she watches her new little friend acquaint himself with his human-shaped chew toy.

The sight of it softens her features and she lowers herself down onto the ground to join them. A smile taking the place of her worried look as the tension drains away from her shoulders. ]

I thought perhaps, I might call him Marrok. I have been reading about the Knights in the time of King Arthur. It is said that Sir Marrok was a werewolf who served under the King.

I think Marrok is a great name.

[She tilts her head up as she rubs his stomach and laughs.]

If I remember correctly, his wife was had a tendency to play hard to get. But I don't thinks that something he has to worry about yet, do you buddy?

I think Sir Wynnefalshond would approve.

[ Her smile ever present as she watches the newly named Marrok expose his belly, as if he doesn't have a care in the world - despite his short but traumatic life. ]

I doubt he will have such problems when the time comes. [ It was love at first whine for Avaleen, anyway. ] Though I shall hate to see him leave.

Even if they leave, they're never truly gone.

[she holds up her free hand and places it over her heart.]

Home and family is always here. It doesn't have to be physical proximity.

[ Rosario manages to capture Ava's full attention as she speaks, her smile softening at the words that pass her lips and it doesn't take a sense motive to realize that the blond takes those words, very much to heart. ]

That belief would provide many here with comfort in times such as these. [ People forced to leave their family, friends, the only home they'd known to take up arms in a fight that seemed impossible to win. ]

Are they the words of personal experience? [ Her voice softening as she attempts to delicately inquire. ]

[She pauses for a moment, before nodding.]

It's been a long time since I've been home to see my mother. And given the state of things ... probably a lot longer before I see her again.

[But the Work was important, and both she and her mother understood that from the beginning.]

Home wasn't where I was needed. Here is.

You are... from this world?

[ It shouldn't be such a strange idea, not when those born here far outnumbered those who came here, but within the Knights? It seemed to be a sanctuary for those who no longer had a home to speak of. ]

Is she so far that a visit would be impossible?

She's in Mexico City, so ... it's about a two day drive, and there's a chance they might not let me back in again, since technically I'm a Mexican citizen.

[No matter how good her paperwork is, it's a complicated time to be leaving the country. She also knows that Bea would likely teleport her if she really wanted to go, but she also needs to reserve her strength for the challenges that are coming.]

I'll see her when this is over. I can't deprive her of the chance to yell at me for getting married without her.

[Her tone is teasing but the statement is also true. Her mother is very much going to be angry with her for getting married without her.]

[ It's clear in the confusion that touches her features, that Ava doesn't fully comprehend the complications that could derive from Rosario's citezenship. She's still naive enough to not fully understand why there's so much hostility between the Shadowkind and humans of this world.

That confusion is exactly why it never occurs to her that Rosario could have chosen magical means of transport. She's learned from experience that not everyone is at ease with the idea of magical aid. ]

You have been recently married? [ Her face lighting up now she's been presented with a much happier subject. ] Are they here with you?

[She nods with a wide smile.]

Technically, she's the knight, and I'm the stowaway, but yeah. We got married right before we came here.

[Like ... literally right before. In the kitchen of the castle.]

[ Her whole face brightens further - if that's even possible at this point. ]

I believe it is traditional for the newly married to celebrate their union by taking a matrimonial adventure together.

[ Her expression dims, confusion twisting her features as she attempts to connect what she's heard with what this is. ]

Though I do not believe this is what was intended?

[She laughs, before shaking her head.]

No, but honestly I think what she had in mind for our honeymoon was the Artic, so I will take a desert over that.
