The acting Heads of the Knighthood - Hasmed and Solace - have made a decision that is not easy for many. Given the terrible state of everything happening in America, they've decided to relocate operations entirely to the States, and have secured a facility vaguely near Las Vegas: agreeing to work alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization to find a way to take down Blade. It is certainly possible, with the grim missions that lie before them, that many, or all, of the Knights may never return. Reactions to the announcement are certain to be strong, but it's time to choose what they will bring with them to their new life - and for some, to decide if it's a journey they can bring themselves to take.

Most of the facility is underground, and the Knights are each granted badges that will act as keycards to get them into the barracks area that has been sequestered for them in its own building (called the Enclave), as well as to access the other rooms that are open to their use. It is more or less similar to this, but scaled up in size to account for the larger numbers of people housed on base. There are separate buildings on the base compound for the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (The Sanctuary) and for those members of Hellsing (The Bulwark) who have relocated as well. The entire compound itself is referred to collectively as "The Harbor". Peter Fargason will continue to run training drills daily, attempting to mold the Knights into a more efficient combat unit, and Hasmed, Solace, Koraith, Dovan, and Lis'sa will continue to assign missions to members of the Knighthood, ostensibly aimed towards slowing the tide of monsters and evil doers heading to Los Angeles and protecting Shadowkind in America from the "war on Shadowkind" being waged by the American government, as non-humans are being rounded up as potential threats to the country. Hasmed and Solace have assumed joint leadership of the Knighthood, and appointed no Dragon's Claw to replace either the deceased Sir Bancroft or the now gone rogue Sir Chessing.

Gone is the eclectic decor of the castle rooms, replaced by a much more uniform look to each assigned barracks, which, unfortunately, sleep two to a room because of restraints on space. Feel free to sign up for a roommate on the thread on this post. In fact, everything here is much more polished, state of the art, and modern, which is a jarring change from the castle. How well people adjust may depend on quite a few factors... but for now, they are free to attempt settling in.

Technically? I asked for a sabbatical, and said I was doing some digging on a big assignment... At first I wasn't sure if I was going to report on the Knights or not, but now that that's a resounding "not", I figure stopping Blade is the story of the century.

[incantatio]

Honestly? Sometimes I think it wouldn't be so bad if people knew about the Knights. Especially with Blade.

[loisfuckinglane]

I mean, aside from the part where they probably violate international laws on the reg.

[incantatio]

I was thinking we leave that part out of the press release. [ A grin playing across her lips at the end. ] I just think it would be good for both sides to see Shadowkind and Humans working together.

[loisfuckinglane]

Not arguing that. Especially now.

[incantatio]

[ /Spends ten minutes thinking of a reply that still works in their current briefing. ]

I think a little inspiration could go a long way.

Hey, I'll all about inspiration. That's why we're here, isn't it? Beacon of hope and all.

[ She allows that quote to hang for a moment then shrugs. ]

That's why I'm here. I think we all have our reasons but in the end, it boils down to the fact that not being here seems worse.

Every little bit helps if it comes to making sure the world isn't run by a psycho dark elf pseudo-god tomorrow.

That almost seems like the easy part. [ Her expression grim and emotion that she's trying to conceal is clearly felt by her familiar as he scrambles closer and rubs his cheek against her knee. ]

Stopping him will only be the beginning.

Well, maybe it's the PR the Knights need, then. But that's a decision that will have to be made above our paygrade.

[incantatio]

Heh... yeah. [ Not even trying to mask her skepticism. ] I'm sure the new power couple will make a good choice.

From what I'm hearing, there doesn't seem to be a lot in the way of confidence in their choices.

[incantatio]

[ Rather than take the opportunity to drag Solace and Hasmed through the mud, Sawyer does appear to really weigh those words, as if her response deserved to be carefully considered instead of thrown out there without context. ]

I'm sure they have their supporters... I don't really know them that well. [ She couldn't hate on them for simply existing. ] I don't know a lot of people here that well.

[ She'd been here since before the attack on the Castle but she'd never fully settled. It had been hard for her to feel truly at ease after seeing what one of their own had done to Serafina. ]

But there was one Knight - I don't know if Clark told you about the Castle being attacked?

He must have left that one out.

I read about the old Prince returning with rebel forces--- Waitaminute. We were the rebel forces?

Well... The way I hear it? There was an actual Andresian rebel force as well, but. It was mobilized and led by us, yeah.

I didn't know Wynn was into toppling regimes. Even evil ones.

I think there's a lot more to it than even I know. King Marcus? He was a Knight for one.

Yup. Plus, Sarandis was connected to that anti-Shadowkind zealot and some of the things he was doing with Shadowkind? Chipping them, controlling them. Forcing them to fight for him. If anything I'm surprised it took as long as it did for the Knights to get involved.
