[[ Towering above our heroes is the fifteen-story NOVA Record Headquarters, an L-shaped structure tipped with a winged roof, covered in reflective window linings that paint a portrait of the New Orleans skyline across its panels. Foot traffic streams in and out, a parade of Bluetooth wearing suits, women in nine-inch heels, and extravagantly dressed stars surrounded by guards and entourage members.

But the lavish exterior hides a dark secret or two, and the Knights have sworn to shine a light on all of them.

Why is a record company funding a church that supports Shadowkind slavery? What are the 'experiments' for which they're buying up Shadowkind DNA, and how does it relate to the mysterious behavioral-control chip found in the displacer beast released in the museum? And, of course, what do they want with Jade, and what do they know about the Lazarus Talisman's current location?

Answers are rarely straightforward on their journey, and it looks like another complication or two are on the way.... ]

[he follows after the aide and just shrugs both dumage's and myri's comments off.] You're expected to be able to do a little bit of everything. Be a jack of all trades.

[Myri is going to try to remember the role she's playing (...RP INCEPTION) and speaks a little louder for the aide's benefit.]

[he uses the arm she's clinging onto to pull her in a little closer. he's playing a role too ok. the sexychan playboy role.]

Don't we know it. [ the aide stares like a deer stuck in the headlights for a moment as if he's afraid they're all going to start having sex right there on the spot, but finally sputters to life.

"They're filming his music video today. If you'll follow me..."

dumage seems oblivious, but a listen check of 13 or more will hear the sudden sound of frantic splashing behind them, in the direction of the large decorative pool that takes up most of the room... ]

[Myri laughs to play along, but the flush in her cheeks is completely natural. Despite that, her hearing is dynamite because her check of 18 means she can hear that splashing. She turns towards the sound as casually as possible.]

[well, she's the only one, because finnick's check of 12 has left him just as oblivious as dumage.]

[ myri would notice a few other heads turning that way as well, as there seems to be a dark-clad figure splashing around in the pool. a hand shoots out of the water to try to grasp the side but slides off, the woman's head barely emerging to cough out fountains of water before disappearing again.

she does not look like she's having a grand ol' time over there. ]

Oh... Oh! [She grabs onto Finnick because her gift is screaming at her to save the young woman, but that would... probably blow their cover. She grits her teeth and after a split second, she lets go.]

She needs help! [She looks up at Finnick, begging him silently to do what she assumes she can't, else she look too much unlike the woman she is pretending to be.]

[he has a second of hesitation -- should he?? how talented is too talented?? -- but this sort of thing is what being a knight entails, and he can't say no to myri pleading at him like that. so he wrenches himself free from his prosititutes entourage, runs over to the pool, and holds his hand out for the drowning flailychan.]

Need a hand? [hur hur hur]

[She reaches for the outstretched hand, grabs hold, and squeezes as if her life depends on it. Because she doesn't know she's in a pool, and she's been drowning for nearly close to few minutes by now.

Or at least, it sure feels that way. It's always hard to judge time when you're about to die.

She barely even registers what the man is saying, and she coughing too hard to actually reply. Instead she holds onto his hand for dear life, reaching for the edge of the pool with the other.

Clearly she wants out. Now.]

[upon further observation, he thinks maybe she's having some kind of panic attack (and hence he should take her a little more seriously). he uses her grip on his hand to pull her farther out of the pool, then pats her on the back in equal parts reassurance and effort to get any water out of her lungs.]

Hey, it's all right.

[ there's the sound of a dozen smartphones instagram-ing this heartfelt moment, as the aide twitters about, demanding the secretary go get a towel or something.

dumage sashays that way, careful to keep her distance from the slick edge, lest she slip on those tall heels of hers and land in the pool. she folds her arms, raising one eyebrow at the scene, as she drawls: ] How simply heroic. Looks like someone had a bit too many complimentary drinks.

[She's becoming more and more aware of her surroundings as her coughing becomes less severe and her eyes adjust to the lights. The man who had saved her, (wow he was handsome), was patting her on the back, which served more to calm her than anything else. The two brunettes nearby were both incredibly pretty as well, though in entirely different ways.

The one who spoke had her replying through a fit of coughing.]

I...wasn't...drinking.

[At least she doesn't think she was. Her rather casual dress doesn't match the rest of the people here, that's for sure, but she doesn't exactly remember what she was doing, other than it was something important.

She's having a hard time remembering, well, anything. She thinks there may have been a car, and a lake. And a friend, who's name was escaping her.

Only then does she think to ask.]

[finnick believes her, for the record. he's still being calm and gentle and trying to understand her situation (while ignoring all the people plugging his pics into instagram). he has a +5 in working with girls who may or may not be mentally disturbed.] You're at NOVA Records. In New Orleans. Does that sound familiar?

[witchwoman]

[Once Dumage walks over, Myri is quick to follow. Her concern is more than obvious. She reaches the group of them and reaches out a hand to touch the young woman's arm.]

Are you alright? [Her voice is quiet to try to keep the others just prying.] You must be freezing. [Not that she has anything to offer to warm her up.]

New Orleans?

[While she recognizes the name of the city, it only leaves her more confused. Was she in New Orleans before?

In the end she just shakes her head, because she definitely doesn't recognize NOVA records.]

We drove off a bridge, and... [Her brows furrow.] ...I can't remember.

[She's still shaking, though it's from being chilled instead of fright. She coughs a few more times before she speaks again.]

Yeah, I think I'm okay. [She looks embarrassed.] Thanks for saving me. [Though she knows how to swim, so why she would drown in such a shallow pool, she has no idea. She could have sword there was a lake, or a river.]

An amnesia case, hmm? [ if it weren't for the bit about driving, dumage would immediately believe veil shenanigans but elena's modern dress is throwing off her notions of shadow world arrivals... ] Charming. Don't we have somewhere to be?

[he shrugs like it ain't no thing and is about to say more before dumage distracts him. he doesn't know what to make of it either, since apparently amnesia is some sort of WIDESPREAD EPIDEMIC HERE. but as dumage has noted they are on the go so.]

Right, the music video. [he turns his attention back to elena and smiles.]

How would you like to be part of an entourage?

[Had Elena been in better shape, she would have had a some choice words for Miss Entitled over there, but she's fortunately distracted by more important things. For the moment, she's trying to ring out her clothes with one hand, while tucking long soaked hair behind one ear.]

Your entourage, I'm guessing? [Extremely cute blonde guy with two girls nearby? What else is she going to guess. At least he seems really nice, as does the other brunette. Besides, where else is she going to go?] Sure, just...give me one second?

[She'll just take a moment to pull previously mentioned soaked hair back into a high ponytail, ringing that out that as well. Her clothes will just have to...dry.]

[ oh hey, here comes that aide running up with a big fluffy white towel, which he thrusts towards elena. meanwhile dumage tosses her a withering smile while the aide distracts her, and then sidesteps to face finnick with her back to the new girl. the smile instantly drops and her eyes narrow as she whispers: ] What do you think you're doing? Are you trying to blow our cover or do you have something up your sleeve you'd like to share with the rest of the class? [ one eyebrow spikes, demandingly ]

Something was wrong with her. She needed help. What was I supposed to do? [he whispers back, jaw clenched. he (thinks he) knows what she'll say -- it was only a shallow pool, someone would have helped her eventually, blah blah blah. and if it weren't for myri he probably would have agreed and kept walking tbh ... ]

[Elena takes the towel, seemingly momentarily distracted as she pats at her body, starting with her face and arms, then moving to her clothes. In reality though, she can hear every word (aw, yeah, 17), though the only sign of this is the every so slight raise of her eyebrows.

She glances at the nicer brunette apologetically before she clears her throat, her gaze steady and knowing at the other two.

While she doesn't know a lot, it's possible that she knows enough.]

Sorry, is there somewhere you need to be?

[She doesn't sound like she's very sorry. Just serious.]

[WHOOPSIES. he turns to talk to her like he wasn't just arguing with dumage and everything is cool beans.]

I was on my way to shooting a music video, actually.

[ dumage will chime in with a forced smile ] Finnick here is a very big star. [ there's a clearly unspoken WHO DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE ON NOBODIES in her tone ]

[Well, that's their cover, she's pretty sure. She glances around to make sure no one is nearby before she begins to use the towel to wipe at her face, to hopefully keep anyone from reading her lips if they happen to be watching. She keeps her tone low too, just in case.]

Look, here's the deal. I don't know what the heck is going on, or how I ended up here, but I don't know anyone and I have no where to go. So you can either take me with you, or I can tell everyone that you're a bunch of liars.

[Because it can't entirely be a coincidence that this is where she happened to end up, right? Besides, the one girl is a huge b-word, but the other two seem fine. She could pick worse people. Hopefully.]
