The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ she laughs, a little uneasily at first, but she seems to relax pretty quickly ] Yeah, maybe I should lay off until we at least get there.

[He's clueless to that laugh being anything but embarrassment (wis 5) so he reaches over and gives her thigh a quick pat.]

No harm. I think it's telling us we're close by anyway.

[Possibly not. He's terrible with technology.]

Oh, right. [ she takes a quick glance at the screen ] We're right outside of town, so should just be a couple minutes.

[ at least she's aware enough to use a bit of caution when driving through the city. it wouldn't be good to draw attention from the authorities in a hot-wired car with booze, after all. finally she pulls up in front of a bar, music blaring out into the street, a crowd of people smoking by the door.

putting the car in park, she turns to him, smiling away ] We're here!

[bluffcheck]

[Better that she's in charge of driving, then, because Thoster has no clue that caution at all would be needed. He takes a few more drinks from his bottle as they pull up to the pub, grinning back at her once he hears that music.]

Oh, you bet we are. Come on! [He throws open his door and jumps out, arms flung out wide in the direction of the crowd of smokers.]

Fear not, good people! The night is young and the entertainment has arrived.

[ his panache immediately upon exiting the car makes her ever more excited for this than she was earlier. she gets out, too, clapping her hands together at his declaration, clearly very excited for wherever this may be going.

she rounds the vehicle and loops her arm through his. ] Are you really going to sing again? [ she sure hopes so ]

[bluffcheck]

[Once she has her arm looped through his, Thoster grins down at her before starting to walk towards the pub.]

Well, of course! I perform best with a large audience, after all. I thought it only fair to give you my best.

[ she squees, clapping her hands together again ] You are the best, like, ever, you know that? This is going to be awesome!

[bluffcheck]

I certainly try. [He says with a laugh as he holds open the door and ushers her inside.]

Find us a table and order something strong for the both of us. I need to talk to a man about a stage. [He nods in the direction of a small area at one end of the bar where it seems they do some live music. It's unoccupied for now. So Thoster's going to scrounge together a band.]

Cool. [ she navigates through the crowded bar, securing a table and flagging down the waitress. she actually orders them both a couple shots and a couple beers, now that someone else is pouring the drinks. then, she waits for him there, trying to peek above heads and around bodies for any sign of him. ]

[Thoster has no trouble convincing the owner to let him use the stage and even gets a few names of regulars who could help play some instruments to back him up (diplomacy 28). What a helpful bar owner! So a little bit after Fiona finishes ordering drinks, there's a throat clearing sound over the microphone that's now on, and there's Thoster, up front and center with a grin on his face. The recorded music cuts out, causing a strange void of sound to fill the bar instead. Thankfully, Thoster doesn't let silence reign for long.]

I hope everyone's having a good time tonight. I know I am. [He winks in Fiona's direction.] So I promised a pretty girl that I would sing for you all. This one's for the lovely Fiona.

[And then he launches into it. And if I were more prepared, I would have a song picked out but shhhhh. He gets the musicians to play something simple to back him up, and true to his word, Thoster is quite impressive when he has a proper audience (perform 21). He sings his heart out, laughs and jumps around. It's really high energy and by the end of it he's out of breath.]

[ for the first few moments after his little speech, fiona can't shake this overwhelming feeling of deja vu, and until it passes she's caught up reeling from said emotions, each one more abstract, while also more familiar, than the last. but as the performance picks up, something in her brain just shuts off, and within seconds she's all but forgotten the occurrence, instead choosing to jump up to her feat and participate in thoster's performance with all she's got (perform: dance 19).

when he finishes, she's the one hooting and hollering from the crowd, clapping louder than anyone else in the bar. ]

[Thoster watches her briefly as he sings, eyes drifting across the room but coming back to find her over and over. He catches the brief emotion in her gaze (spot 17) and knows that something must be wrong (wis 15) but doesn't know her well enough to say for sure just what the problem is. But the glance is gone from her eyes soon enough. As the song finishes, he jumps off the stage and rushes towards her, wrapping an arm around her waist and sweeping her up in a haphazard dance (perform 14). It ends in a laugh and a tight embrace, pulling her flush against him in the middle of the bar.]

You're not like anyone I've met, lass. I think I like that.

[ she loves the impromptu dance at the end, laughing along with him, and definitely not pulling away ] What's not to like? [ annnd she pulls him in for a very direct and confident kiss, letting it linger for a long moment, still smiling against his lips ]

[The moment her lips touch hers, he's into this. He lets out a low rumble of a groan, because confidence is sexy. He's not all that interesting in breaking away, but he can feel that smile on her lips so he pulls back enough to give a single response.]

What is it? [The question comes with a smile of his own.]

You just seem to have a knack for making me smile. [ her grin softens a bit for a moment as she regards him, but then she pulls away, her hand sliding down to his to drag him along. ] I got us some drinks.

[bluffcheck]

[There's no time to really respond to the first part before she's got him following after her.]

Ah, you know the way to a man's heart. Liquor.

[ she laughs, spinning him around to face the table before picking up two of the shot glasses and holding one out to him ] Something else we have in common, then.

Bottom's up! [ and she clinks her glass against his ]

[bluffcheck]

[Needing no other invitation, Thoster throws back the shot, feeling the burn of the liquor on his throat and grinning.] Don't suppose this place serves fey wine, do you? I keep hearing tales about it. Haven't had the chance to try it myself.

I don't know! We could ask, but here. [ she touches one of the empty glasses, filling it with wine of her own making ] This stuff's even better.

[bluffcheck]

[He enjoys that trick quite a lot.]

Just how much of that stuff can you make?

Not a ton, or anything, but enough to get by, for sure. I usually just stick to what's at the bar, as I can drink a lot more of that than I can of this. [ you probably better make a fort save there, son ]

Well if you've already made this, I'd hate to see it go to waste.

[ wow that's some good stuff, thoster. and wow, it sure does kick in fast. ] Never waste alcohol. That would be unforgivable. [ but she laughs, all seriousness aside, and takes another shot herself ]

[bluffcheck]

[The room spins a bit and he looks at the glass, accusatory.]

Think I might get drunk on you tonight, lass. Tell me- if you made the wine, I wonder if I could taste it on you.

[Drunk come ons... I don't even know.]

[ and she laughs. there's nothing mocking about it, she's just really amused by his question. which is probably not the most... desirable result, but eh, she's not offended either, at least. ] Are you thinking body shots? Because I'd be down for that. But it goes both ways. [ as she wags a finger toward him, jokingly. ]
