In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

[ vi will just be in the back with a laptop, planning a funeral and mainlining grape juice like it's going out of style. it's not helping. she just wants wine, man, she wants wine so bad. sadly though, she doesn't exactly bleed approachable vibes. (unsure) ]

[ it's a long flight, eventually dean has to get more booze go to the bathroom. he glances at the laptop as he passes, but it's enough for him to read vi's demeanor and connect some dots with what rose said (sense motive nat 20??), so on the way back, he... puts a mini bottle of alcohol down next to her. ]

You look like you could use that more than I could. And that's sayin' something.

I really could. [ which is why she looks so disappointed when she pushes it aside. what she wants is to drink an entire bottle of wine all by herself. maybe two! but no, she had to have a unicorn pregnancy test. :| she can't exactly knock back fifteen nips while anastacia is a few rows away and being a perfect human being. can't feign ignorance when people know she's not. gdi nick. ] Thanks though.

I'm allergic to alcohol. [ it doesn't warrant a roll, she just sounds too tired to attempt an actual lie. ] It's Dean, right? Are you, like, a little bit insane? Joining up with us, I mean.

Joining up is a very strong turn of phrase.

Plenty of people would call ninety-nine percent of what I do insane. Hasn't stopped me yet.

[ her head tips to the side slightly, thoughtful. ] Well. Try not to get killed. I don't know you so planning your funeral would test my skills. And you're mildly attractive, be such a waste.

[finnick just drops down in the seat next to her, eventually. like best friends do.] Hey.

Hey Fish. [ she smiles a little, typing a bit more before she looks at him. pm everything on the screen is covered in red lines because her spelling is atrocious and word doesn't recognize latin. ] It's really an unfortunate time to rediscover sobriety, I don't suggest it, would not recommend.

[he snorts a little. and ... notices the screen (spot 14) but ignores it.] I doubt it will be a good time for sobriety any time soon. How are you holding up?

Badly. Like really badly, but I'm pretending I'm fine because if one more person looks at me like oh that poor girl I'm going to rip their spines out and choke them with it. Which is kind of harsh? So I'm trying to just bring one dead body back to Wynn, not like twelve.

I'm sure there are a few people on the plane no one will miss if you have to relieve some stress. [hashtag times when finnick acts like the teenage sociopath he was, ok.]

[ she snorts a laugh, stifling it behind her hand because she's supposed to be mourning, but that was funny, okay? she can't help it. and she needs to laugh. ] I love you.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I'll try to drown in the pool eventually. You're a good lifeguard.

[hi have a sister sitting next to you and leaning her head on your shoulder. no words. just silent comfort for now.]

[ much quiet, very silence. after a while, vi pipes up with the oddest question. ] Do you know why Italia says "clear the jelly" like its a genuine life goal and not a level in candy crush?

[witchwoman]

No- I suppose I never thought much about it.

It's weird. [ although maybe not to myri since different times.... ] He's just got such conviction in clearing the jelly, it's adorable.

[witchwoman]

Perhaps you should ask him. I think we could all do with a bit more of his conviction.

[graveflowers]

I don't think clearing the jelly is really going to help now.

[witchwoman]

I don't know if anything will. But clearing the jelly couldn't hurt.

[She almost sounds serious. Maybe she and Raf can have deep conversations about the jelly.]

Maybe. [ she shrugs. doesn't really matter. she won't be clearing the jelly. ]
