In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

[ She was already on the plane when they boarded in New York, curled up with denim-clad legs folded to her chest in the back-most window seat, dark sunglasses covering closed eyes. It's all pretty inconspicuous, but maybe they're on high alert and come poke her awake suspiciously.

Or maybe they got the memo about a new recruit shipping over to meet Wynn, or maybe after the trip they've had they just don't care and she isn't noticed until she finally wakes up later, slowly uncurling and pushing shades up into dark hair, adjusting her ponytail and doing a surprisingly sharp-eyed survey of the plane's new occupants. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike definitely was out smoking when that memo came in, so when she wakes up, she'll find a vampire staring at her suspiciously from across the aisle.]

Who the bugger are you?

[alsohawkeye]

The queen. [ she deadpans back at him. One dark brow is arched. ] Who are you?

[bigbad]

[He raises an eyebrow right back at her. All the eyebrows.]

The bloody pope.

[alsohawkeye]

[ Kate swipes a hand over her hair and shifts in her seat, digging her phone out of a pocket. ] Sorry about that whole Reformation thing. We're cool now, right?

[bigbad]

Not really. I still want to know about who you are and why you're on our plane.

[alsohawkeye]

I was invited to come meet a guy named Wynn. I'm not about to fly coach if I don't have to.

[bigbad]

New recruit? [Spike raises an eyebrow.] Suppose we'll need some fresh blood at this rate. [Isn't this a great organization you're joining...]

[alsohawkeye]

[ Wow, Spike. Way to sell it. ] They should put you in charge of PR. What's the average lifespan of new recruits, do you think?

[likedillinger]

[ hey there, sexy lady. mr. priorities over here looks up from his car magazine to take a good look at her. ]

So who are you?

[alsohawkeye]

[ Kate has the sound turned off on her phone so the telltale Candy Crush noise doesn't carry across the plane. She keeps swiping as she looks up at Dean. ] Kate. Who're you? [ Maybe she alternates snarking. ]

[likedillinger]

Dean.

So this whole... Knight thing your scene too?

[alsohawkeye]

[ She shrugs. Her nose wrinkles briefly at her phone and then she swipes the screen dark and turns it down against her knee, attention shifted to Dean. Hi. ]

I don't know yet. I've been invited to come meet the boss, so I guess we'll see how it goes. I take it it's not yours?

[likedillinger]

[ he snorts derisively at the very suggestion. ] Do I look like Heath Ledger to you? Not really my scene, no.

[alsohawkeye]

If you did we'd be having a totally different conversation. [ Kate flashes him a smile. ] But points for the reference. So what's your scene, then? Stowing away on jets?

[likedillinger]

Actually, you usually couldn't pay me enough to get on one of these death traps, no.

[alsohawkeye]

So they pay pretty well? Good to know. So what's your thing? Area of expertise, weird power, et cetera.

[witchwoman]

[Myri probably was around for the memo about a new person. And considering how terrible the group is so far at welcoming people, she makes an effort to stop by and at least say hello.]

Kate? [Did they give her name? I GUESS SO.]

[alsohawkeye]

[ And here Kate was all ready with the next smart-ass reply for whoever came up next and asked who she was. She's mildly disappointed, but it's nice to know she's on the right plane after all. She looks up from her phone and nods. ] That's me. Hi.

[witchwoman]

Hello. [She manages a smile, looking tired but still kind.] My name is Myrilandel- but everyone calls me Myri. It's good to have you here with us.

[alsohawkeye]

Nice to meet you, Myri. [ Kate smiles back, a little subdued given the general mood of the plane, but friendly. ] Thank you. I gather it's not a very good time around here, but I guess that's why you're recruiting.

[witchwoman]

It's not a good time. It rarely is, but there's always time to at least say hello and welcome. I just hope you won't judge us too harshly by this behavior.

[alsohawkeye]

[ There's a part of Kate that wants to say 'if it's never a good time then maybe you guys should be used to handling bad ones without turning into jerks' but she's only been here for a couple hours and was asleep for half of that and now Myri's being nice so she doesn't really have anything to complain about. Stop being a jerk, part-of-Kate.

She smiles. ] No, not at all. Nothing the free flight can't balance out. Have you been part of the knights for long?

[witchwoman]

A few years now. It feels like yesterday and forever all at once, somehow.
