Arrival in the city involved picking up any weapons or equipment that they had sent to meet them here and moving into their oh-so-fancy hotel rooms on the top floor. It consists of four adjoining rooms with a shared living room space and kitchenette. Each bedroom has two separate beds and roomies are:

Kat & Gar
Buffy & Myri
Martha & Dumage
Spike & Sven

Mark's agreed to sleep on the couch, since there aren't any spaces with five separate adjoining rooms available.

Gar's new job will begin on Monday, which gives the Knights the weekend to explore the city if they like, do research on the Hoffman Institute, scope out the Institute's campus, set up surveillance plans, or otherwise unwind before the real work starts. Feel free to start threads for anything, and use subject lines to denote which day it occurs on! Also don't be afraid to jack multiple people into threads, as now is a great time for some TEAM BUILDING 8) ... Try not to kill each other, in other words.]

Saturday - ota

[It's another fun day in the life of William the Bloody Flammable. Not that Spike actually knows that particular name of his, I just wanted to work the joke in. ANYWAY, he's restless and bored and too wound up to really try to sleep, so he wanders around the hotel room which... isn't big enough to really explore much so that gets boring pretty quickly. Finally, he ends up turning on the telly and watching Dawson's Creek.

As intriguing as he finds the love triangle between Pacey, Joey, and Dawson, he'll pretty much jump for a chance to hang out with anyone who decides to come back during the day. Seriously, he hates this part of being undead so much.]

[Myri's likely not to go far unless someone drags her out. Both she and Amaranth emerge from their room at some point in the afternoon to find her favorite person ever :| She briefly thinks about turning on her heels and avoiding him, but decides that they may very well need to work together, so she can't just write him off so easily.

Still unsure about him in general, Myri approaches and sits down on a nearby chair, hands folded in her lap. Her gaze is drawn to the television which is much less chaotic than the last time she saw one.]

[Spike doesn't particularly dislike her. He doesn't think much of her one way or the other, only noticing that she is very quiet. Still, now that she's not being quiet directly in front of the telly, he doesn't mind as much. He glances over at her as she sits down and raises a hand in greeting.]

[There's a few moments of awkward silence that are accompanied by the teenage drama on the screen. Myri eventually turns to Spike during a quieter moment on the screen.]

Is this all you do, then?

[Mark comes in from whatever he's been out doing all morning and pauses behind the sofa, looking remarkably enthused]

... I love this show.

Do you? [Spike sits up, turning towards him a bit. Okay, he thinks Mark is... pretty dumb, but hey, someone to talk about his show to who... knows what a television is. Sorry, Myri. It's true.] First time I've seen it, but I like it so far.

[ Day 1. Arrival in the big city of ... uh. Cityness. Very city-like, what with the tall buildings and the tons of people and the -- It had been a while. Well, not that long of a while, but she hadn't exactly been the coziest with it when Wynn found her all memory-free and she wasn't loving it now that she was staring down a mission that entailed who knows what.

So, at first, she tried to kind of sequester herself in the room with Myri. She'd sent a claymore to meet them in Chicago, and after they'd done their weapons check and picked them up, she'd brought the box up to the room to take it out and examine it. Clean it. Otherwise play with it. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myrilandel is still not used to the big modern cities, so staying within the confines of their living quarters is just simpler for her. The only weapons she'd sent along where some daggers that she's already hidden on her person for easy access.

She wanders back into their room after exploring the common area and finds Buffy fusses with her weapon.]

Careful with that. I heard a rumor you're quite good with it.

[slays]

Quite good, or impressively crappy. I haven't decided which it is yet. [ She gives a smile and lowers the sword back into its case. ] I noticed you didn't go pick anything up. Think you'll just be heal-gal while we're here?

[witchwoman]

[With a Slight of Hand check of 19, Myri moves her hands as if to adjust her clothing, but ends up coming back with a small knife in each hand.]

I don't intend to remain completely defenseless during our stay.

[shootfirst]

[Kat just... helps herself to entering your room, deal with it, I guess. And stands there in the doorway, staring at the weapon, looking amused] Not so much in the subtlety department, but definitely makes a statement.

[slays]

[ It's okay, Kat, Buffy ain't even mad. Or surprised. Everything she knows about Kat screams room-barger-inner. She looks up and smiles, giving kind of a sheepish shrug. ] I'm not really a gun person.

And, I'm pretty sure if they need us to go all guns blazing violence on anybody, it won't be screaming subtlety anyway. Thus, [ she holds up the claymore, then rests it back in the box, getting to her feet. This is awkward. But she wants to talk to her about something. But it's awkward. But of all the people on this trip, Kat is the one Buffy probably trusts the most to talk to about it. ]

Do you -- I mean, I was kinda thinking I'd go grab food later, if you wanna come.

I'm guessing you don't mean McDonald's. [She just has to tease you about not loving fast food like a good America] Oo! We could grab some Chicago style pizza.

Saturday evening - ota

[bigbad]

[As soon as the sun goes down, Spike crashes out of his room into the main living room area and looks around excitedly. He's ready to hit the streets.]

Who else fancies a beer?

[slays]

[ Buffy, who had been comfortably reading in a pouf chair off in the corner, snaps her book shut and looks up at him through narrowed eyes. ]

You really think you should be drinking right now, Spikey? Might not sit well with that new diet of yours. [ Yep. This is a conversation that is happening. In front of whoever else is in the living area right now. ]

[bigbad]

Oh, bloody hell. [Spike rolls his eyes and turns towards her. This is really not what he wants right now. At least, not until after the beer.] I think my new diet can handle beer just fine.

[slays]

Sure, that is, if it doesn't lead to you deciding to prowl the bars for something a little bit stronger. [ She will never stop. She needs an intervention. ]

Oh thank god, someone else who wants to get out of this little weekend retreat sleepover for a bit.

I thought you'd never ask. [/GRABBING HER COAT while you snipe with Buffy]

[Sniping sniping, being slightly desperate and pathetic, finally ragequitting... HEY DUMAGE. Spike puts on a bit of a grin, even though his general bad mood shines through.]

Glad you're coming with.

Saturday - for Gar

[Since arriving in Chicago, Martha's gone out to a few coffeeshops and pursued a bit of, um, lighter reading. It turns out that the library had some trashy paperback romances about the Knights - it's not normally her style of reading material, but she figured that they might have some juicy tidbits of the sort of things that Gar doesn't really discuss.

Of course, now she's got more questions, which means she's going to pester her mentor anyway. She knocks on the door of the room that Kat and Gar share, one of the books in her free hand.]

[rationalizes]

Do come in! [Gar's walking about her room with several books underarm and another open in her hand, giving the illusion that she just... leaks literature, I guess.]

So, um, I've been reading these books, and I guess they probably aren't on the suggested reading list. [Not any suggested reading list provided by Gar, anyway, AND SHE PROBABLY DID PROVIDE ONE.] But they looked...interesting? Not of any real literary merit, but...

Okay, fine, they're trashy books with shirtless muscular men on the covers.

[there was totally a list Gar blinks, obviously trying to process that description, but then a smile breaks across her face, and she sounds like she's trying not to laugh] Do you mean... romance novels?
