WHO || Prince Marcus Andres, Jeanne Gar, Myrilandel de Tanos, Finnick Odair, Spike, Buffy Summers, Sterling Archer, Desmond Descant, Dimitris Sarandis, Lara Tamon, Michael Collins, Dana Green
WHAT || The lost Prince of Andres leads a team of Knights in a coup against Dimitris Sarandis, to reclaim his throne
WHERE || Andres Isle
WHEN || September 19th, 2014
HOW || Actionspam
[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule. He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.
Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon. Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.
The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands. ]

to kill the wraith entirely. it dissolves in a puff of black frigid wind, leaving the cell void of the haunted feeling that had once overtaken it. ]

Buffy tucks her gun into the back of her pants again, crouching beside Myri. She loops her friend's arm around her shoulders, pulling her to her feet and swiping her axe off the ground in the process to make sure it comes with them. ]
It's okay. It's over. [ Leading her out of the cell, she adds; ] Vi's flowers?

and she stops. staring across the hallway into another cell, at a figure huddled up in the corner. she takes a few steps that way, bewilderment written on her features as her mouth drops open. ] Is that--

[ Buffy follows her gaze up, taking a break from fumbling through Myri's bag. She passes the bag off to Spike to keep rifling through, then takes a few wary steps in the direction of the next cell because barreling in didn't work well for anyone last time. Spot 27?? ]
... Hey. [ Here's hoping who or whatever it is speaks English and is friendly ??? ]

also uhoh spaghetios here's hoping it's not thomas ... or are we hoping it is thomas???? we just don't know. ]

the figure hunched in the corner is actually recognizable - if one looks hard enough, past the simple black pants and soiled white shirt that's torn and bloodied, past the matted dark hair and empty expression in the prisoner's eyes:
it's chad becksworth.
he doesn't so much as lift his head at being addressed, drawing his knees closer to his chest as he mutters to himself, a mantra that echoes with dull, engrained fear, as he presses his eyes shut, and shakes his head mechanically back and forth: ] It's not real, not real, just a trick, it's just a trick, they're not there, you're not real, they'll be gone soon...

Like now.
Hearing that voice, that panicked repetition, something familiar tugs at her gut. It could have been her saying those words not terribly long ago. A tortured mind, afraid to be hopeful, assuming it was some trick to lure them into security. Carefully, she climbs down from Des' hold on her and moves through the group to the cell door.
The sight of Chad Becksworth is not what she was expecting, but it doesn't matter.]
Shhh... [She tries to soothe, one hand against the door.] It's not a trick. He's not here to hurt you. [Diplomacy 33, if that's a thing that's needed here.]

[He glances at Finnick, all "y'know what I mean, Verne." After all, he and Finnyri had that great roadtrip to Marengo to answer this very question. He steps closer, but doesn't interfere with Myri's attempt to soothe Chad into talking straight.]
Gotta wonder if this is the direct result of getting into bed with the Mind Master.

[ Chad. She lets the tension drain out of her shoulders, a certain amount of relief replacing it. He's harmless, at the very least. Stepping forward the rest of the way, she reaches out to cover Myri's hand with hers, a gentle gesture for her to move her hand. Once Myri's safely out of the way, Buffy gives the cell door a good, solid yank (str 29). ]

the interior of his cell is telling. nothing but an iron pail in one corner and the shitty remains of bones on a plate thrown in another - and then the marks on the walls. tally marks that must number in the hundreds. ]
Do you know? Do you know who I am?

Chad Becksworth? [just taking a total shot in the dark here. no rly. also he notes those tally marks like damn son. (spot 15)]

She follows him everywhere, weaving her damn illusion. They stole my company.

[He groans and rubs his face.] That's why we found that crap in his office. Crombe trying to keep his facts straight. Jesus Christ, it was in front of our face the whole damn time.
no subject
Are you hurt?
[Myri I swear to god if you use one of your few healing spells on this guy, so help me...]
no subject
I just want to get out of here.
no subject
[ She looks back at the others like ahHAHAH iron golems. Glancing back at Chad, she approaches with Myri, crouching down and offering him a sympathetic look. ]
We're kind of headed in the opposite direction. Like, further in, and then out. Which despite the suicidal sound of it? Is probably your best bet.
[ Reaching out, she offers him a hand. ]
We can get you home. But you have to trust us.
no subject
[He glances at Chad.] No offense, but if you'd seen some of the shit we've seen, you'd agree you'd want no part of that action. The fighting's gonna be over soon and you'll be able to rest assured that the people who did this to you are well on their way to being taken care of. Personally, I'd like to see you and your jackass of a brother hug it out.
We'll be back. That you can trust. Even the bad guys believe that about us. [(diplomacy 43)]

I think I'll take my chances down here, then.
