Dogs are perceptive. [he takes a seat on ... idk a nearby bench and lets the dogs swarm around him.] I'm not depressed. Troubled, maybe, but not depressed. I'd say they smelled food, but I don't have anything on me right now.

[Oh, there's her lighter. She lights her cigarette and smokes from a conversational distance. One might think she was being polite and not getting her secondhand smoke all over Will, but no, she just doesn't want to be within licking and jumping distance of the furbeasts.]

Maybe you just have one of those faces. [A face that... dogs love. She is clearly done wondering about why Will is a Disney princess.] You wanna talk troubled. I finally passed my gun certification and now we're at war. How's that for timing?

[he's fine with that, ok. if dogs were an effective buffer between him and other people all the time he'd be like the homeless dude in oliver and company.] I was just recruited last week. I wonder if Wynn was preparing for war, bringing so many people in at the same time.

Give it time, chief. I know some great books that deal in Shadowkind psych and social norms if you wanna do your research. Not a whole lot on doppelgangers, because those bitches are shifty fuckers- literally- but, y'know, for future reference.
