[ abigail is getting her shooting on. not with the excalibur, though eventually she may attempt that, but with her trusty rifle. fred isn't around to tease her, so i guess that's up to adam. and she's so focused on shooting that she doesn't think about anything else, which is a nice rest for her brain.

and for adam's, really, because do you really want to know what this girl is thinking? no. but her will save was a six, so feel free to get all up in there. are the burgers people, adam, ARE THEY??? they might be. enjoy the cannibalism paranoia. she's going to stick to her bagels. bagels are probably not people. (god, they might be.) ]

[Luckily for Abigail (and himself, he doesn't need those thoughts ok), Adam isn't actively attempting to read people's minds at the shooting range. Believe it or not, he's actually there to legitimately learn how to fire a gun so that he can kill some bitches.

But since I rolled an 11 for his ranged attack, his shit is pretty basic. He hits the target occasionally, but it could just be dumb luck like any average Joe who randomly picked up a gun and started shooting it. Shit was frustrating as hell tbh, so he affords a glance over to the girl beside him to see how she's doing.]

[ she's doing a little better (atks 16, 20 total, and 14), but then her rifle runs out of bullets because it only holds five so she safeties it, sets it down and stoops to collect the spent shells on the ground by her feet. while she's crouched down she pushes her earmuffs off and rubs her ear gently. poor ear. she glances up to see adam and smiles just slightly. ] Hi.

Have you ever seen the Patriot? Aim small, miss small. [ those are her tips. aren't they swell? setting the casings on the shelf next to her gun, she turns to face him and... holds out her hand for his weapon. ] Can I see?

I must have missed that one. [But if it were that easy he'd be able to fucking it hit it more than ha;f the time. B( But he hands it over to her when she asks for it. Maybe the gun is just fucked up and not his aim.]

[ it's like a million times lighter than her rifle, oh it's so small and light holy crap, but it fits in her hands easily and one of her most vivid memories is watching will shoot her dad from across the kitchen -- it's a memory smeared with pain and choking to death on her own blood, but it's kind of impossible to forget. once her earmuffs are back on. she holds the gun like will did, checks the safety and fires twice, breathing slowly between shots. (atks 13 & ...19) ] Huh.

[ she pushes her earmuffs back around her neck and glances over at him sheepishly. ]

Maybe you're holding it wrong? Here. [ she passes it back to him and waits for him to position himself. ] My... Will was in the FBI, if I can't give you some advice, he probably can.

But he puts those stupid ear things back on and takes the gun to get back into position so maybe he wasn't expecting an answer.]

[ she watches for a second before stepping forward to tentatively put her hand on his arm and lower his shoulder a little. this may be the first time she's touched someone that... isn't will. ] Relax your shoulders. [ moving behind him, she nudges his foot with her own, before she continues to make sure his other shoulder is down. ] And open your stance. [ her hand slides down his arm to adjust his grip slightly. ] Cradle it, don't grip it. [ and to answer his first question. ] He's sort of like my dad.

[Adam's following her instructions, dropping shoulders, spreading legs (o-oh...) or feet or whatever, and listening to her explanation. That seemed legit so he isn't going to ask questions.]

[YOU'RE IN A PUBLIC PLACE it's not like he rolled out from under your bed like the boogeyman, okay. he comes closer to adam, adjusting his shoulders slightly. he doesn't have abigail's hangups about physical contact ok, just eye contact. which he doesn't need to make rn so whatever.] When you're in a Weaver stance — which, you are — your support arm is going to take most of the recoil. Make sure to square your hip. [he moves adam's hip slightly.] That'll help, too, otherwise you're gonna sway. Try shooting. [after he gets his headphones on tho. which he's gonna do rn. let's not all get tinnitus like archer.]

Not bad. [will smiles, too. see his face can do that.] If you're not comfortable that way [he is counting that last shot sry], there are other stances you could try. Weaver was how I was taught, but I think Isosceles is the standard in the academy now.

Thanks. [he nods at him, trying his very best to be a friendly, functional person.] Nice to meet you too. [and then he moves right along.] Anyway, with Isosceles, you brace both of your arms into the gun. [he's not actually holding a gun right now, but he gets into a stance like he's holding an imaginary one to show adam what he's talking about. with a whole bluff 13 to hide that he winces a little bit as he does it.] You use your body weight to absorb the recoil. It's a more passive stance.
