[ She stops mid-snark when she notices who's listening to it. ]

[Spike had stopped the punching when he heard Buffy's voice, looking kind of amused at her snark.]

Oh, come on, I don't make of Rafael's poncy crooning. [Yes, Spike, you do. He saunters over to her.] And she's not evil. Just misguided.

Uhh ... Spike? She threw you off a balcony. That was her big misguided contribution to us trying to save her. Pretty sure she's crossed those tracks.

[bigbad]

She's Vi if we hadn't gotten her head cleared out a little faster. [Not that Vi thinks it was worth the cost. Spike's expression falls a little. He nods over at the speakers to cover it.]

Besides. It's not like I paid for it.

Yeah, and currently her head is housing a crazy evil god! [ omg are you from the moon. ] So why are you listening to what comes out of it?

[bigbad]

This is pre-crazy god. Should be free of all mind control. [He rolls his eyes.] It's good music, all right?

Yeah, and Keijen has great cheekbone structure, too bad it's ruined by being evil and trying to murder us. [ it's the principle!! ]

[bigbad]

She's not evil. She's trapped. She needs our help.

[slay]

Which we tried to offer her. Right around the time she evilly refused, and threw you from a balcony. I—Am I taking crazy pills?

[bigbad]

She's got a god inside her head watching her every move. She can't fight them. Can't even let 'em know she'd want to be rescued.

[slay]

... A god inside of her head. [ wis 14. ] Like Vi?

[ SHE WASN'T HERE FOR ANY OF THIS, SPIKE. Someone needs to exposition her. It falls to you. ]

[He nods, some of the defensiveness leaking out of him.] She didn't have people to intervene like Vi did. She took the deal. But I told her we'd find a way to help her. She... I've never seen anyone so miserable as she was. So hopeless. And she couldn't even say anything about it, cause he'd hear.

[slay]

... Spike, if he's in her head, can't he hear her thoughts anyway? What difference would saying it out loud make?

[bigbad]

I think it's more complicated than that. [He frowns, cause it is weird. You'd think hearing her thoughts would be simple when you're already nestled in her brain. But then again, what does he know about mind control.] She wrote some things on a mirror without looking, then told me to destroy it. Said he couldn't know how she was feeling.

[slay]

[ Not to be the most jaded person in this party, but ... Finnick would probably be on her side if he were listening to this right now ok. ]

And you just ... took her word for it.

[ BECAUSE THIS SOUNDS LIKE A WHOLE LOT OF GARDEN VARIETY MANIPULATIVE BULLSHIT FROM THE BAD GUYS AND SOMEONE HAS TO POINT IT OUT. ]

Why would she lie to me? If she was trying to get me to do something, she'd've just left me a mind-controlled slavering fanboy.

[Cause that's more convincing. He grimaces, since... the mind control thing doesn't exactly help with his point. Still.]

You weren't there, all right? She wasn't lying. There are some things you can't fake.

[slay]

And we'd have all noticed something was weird, and not stopped or listened to you until we snapped you out of it. Now, on the other hand, if you ... get a reason to trust her without the brain whammy ... Do you see where I'm going with this?

[bigbad]

[He scowls, because she's not wrong. He still thinks Nadia's telling the truth. She didn't know he was even in the audience when she was crying. But Buffy's right about some things. He doesn't know her.]

I'm not a complete moron, Slayer. I don't trust her. I still think she's worth helping. [A beat. He glances up at her, shrugging a shoulder.] Besides, I'm not seeing how it could possibly hurt us to sever her connection with the extremely evil source of her powers.

[slay]

[ Sigh. Well, he's not wrong about that. ]

So, we'll work on it. But Spike, we've been trying to get her out of there since Myri met her. You know as well as anyone how hard it was to get Vi free of him, and that was just the brochure. If Nadia's telling the truth, she's well into her all-expense paid vacation to the Nightmare Lord's puppetland. There's no telling what kind of magic it takes to break a bond like that.

I'm not saying we don't try. I'm just saying ... we need to be careful.

[bigbad]

Why does everyone keep saying that to me?

[Seriously, Francesca was getting all over him about it.]

I know it won't be easy. But we've got to try. I think she's on the level with this.

[slay]

[ Because you're listening to her music, Spike. It's weird. Buffy keeps that to herself. ]

Then, we'll work on it. First, we need to work on Andres and getting Thomas back. He's one of our own. Nadia's not.

[bigbad]

Can't do that until Wynn finally sends us out. Least this'll keep me distracted. [Not that he's impatient to go back there at full strength and on his terms or anything.]

[slay]

Yeah, I don't think you're gonna find the answer in the training room, Spike, so if helping Nadia's your distraction, you might want to try something more along the lines of the library.

[bigbad]

[Spike shoots her an annoyed look.] I can have multiple distractions. Got to keep fit for the coming fight, don't I? [And he is... crap at research.]

You ... do know we're not some advance troop of soldiers in a war, right?
