[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

Also, following the promotion and squiring parties at the beginning of the month, Wynn will be taking any willing Knights back to Andres Isle to further reconstruction efforts there.   There's plenty to be done - and an election to gear up for, to find out who will rule Andres Isle!

[So Liam's first full moon with the knights happens to be a lunar eclipse, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It gives him time to adjust and not have to worry about losing control and tearing through the castle. To be honest, Cora's more worried about the eclipse for her than for him, because from what she can tell, Liam hasn't been a werewolf all that long. losing his senses and his strength isn't going to be as big a deal for him. Cora's never really known anything else, and being that vulnerable for a full hour is not something she's all that fond of.

It's not her first lunar eclipse and it certainly won't be her last, but it's not something she likes regardless.

Still, they're out in the woods, with the bear, just hanging out. Cora brought a blanket and is just stretched out in a clearing, staring up at the stars while Mellie just gets used to Liam in general. If he's going to be spending a lot of time outside with her, Cora doesn't want the bear treating him like an enemy. She takes a deep breath just as the start of it happens, and she makes a face as her senses start to fade away.]

I hate this part.

[ii. mid-october | closed to stiles]

[She texts him before she actually finds him, wanting to make sure he wasn't doing anything before she barges in and ruins his day with things he probably doesn't want to talk about. When it came up before Andres, he backpedaled pretty quickly, but with everything that's going on she needs to know. Especially if he ever happens to show up here. She waffles on it for a while, but eventually hits send:]

[Cora stays at the castle through the 8th for the full moon, and she runs a mission with Gus and Alex at some point, but for the most part she can be found on Andres. She feels better with keeping busy, and there's not really a lot to do at the castle aside from talk to people. At least on the island, her days are full with things that will wear her out and keep her focused.

She's never really been good with sitting idle.

Feel free to find her either at the castle, or on the island through the various relief efforts. She's good at distracting the kids or carrying things as needed, and is always looking to keep busy. Feel free to catch her wherever.]

[There's a slight pause before she takes the next step.]

Can we talk?

[Then two seconds later, and other text follows up to clarify what exactly she wants to talk about.]

About Peter.

[Oh. That.]

Yeah sure. Want me to come find you?

I'm out in the gardens.

[They can go for a walk or something. She just has a feeling she doesn't want to be inside for this conversation. Being inside when she's anxious or feeling conflicted tends to bring back memories of the vault she'd rather forget.]

[Stiles heads for the gardens, approaching slowly with a short wave as he comes up to meet her.]

Hey. So uh- what did you want to know?

Everything?

[There's a pause as she shifts a bit on the bench she's sitting on, pulling her legs up so that she's sitting Indian-style on the bench.]

Allison mentioned some stuff about how he tortured a girl named Lydia? And you said that he was a sociopath on a good day, but that's not the guy I remember. And Derek ... doesn't remember anything, but Peter's always been his blind spot. So if he shows up here, and I need to keep him away from Derek I need to be prepared.

Yeah, he got in her head. And I mean that literally. He needed her to help bring him back from the dead. It was really messy, Cora. He's not... I don't know who he was around you, but he's not a good guy.

[impetere]

[She was getting that impression.

It's not that she doesn't want to believe him or Allison, it's just a lot to reconcile at once, but she needs to hear the whole story.]

He wasn't a paragon of virtue, but he wasn't ... bad. Always had to know everything about everything, a little nosy but that was always more about Derek than me. He had a temper, but we all did. Wolves can run a little hot. He looked out for the pack.

[But who do you look out for when you don't have a pack anymore? If she didn't know Peter was alive, or Derek for that matter, it stands to reason that Peter didn't know either. Everything was so scattered after the fire, and the Veil isn't helping matters either considering she doesn't even know how she got out in the first place, but she just hopes that she can try and follow how this happened.]

You said he became an alpha. Do you know if that was right after the fire?

[Because there's a slight tightness in her chest that wonders maybe the fire didn't kill her mom, maybe Peter did it, and that's not a road she wants to go down right away.]

[A wis of 16 gives him a clue of why she's asking.]

It wasn't your mom, but... He killed your sister. That's where he got th alpha power from.

[Cora listens to his heartbeat as he talks, mostly because she needs to for her own assurance, not for any lack of faith in Stiles (listen 21, sense motive 14). Not skips, no uptics, no change. She's not sure if that's better or worse than what she was thinking. Because on the one hand, Peter killed her sister, turned on the pack, and that's the one thing she thought he'd never do. At the same time, there's relief that he didn't resort to killing her mother to save himself.

And on another hand entirely, Laura was alive. Laura was surviving until Peter took that away from her. And it's clear that she isn't sure which emotion is safer at the moment, anger at Peter or grief over another loss, but both of them are present in her expression as she continues (will save 8).

She swallows, taking a moment to digest the information before she keeps going because she knows there's more.]

Okay, so ... so he kills Laura and becomes the alpha. Allison mentioned something about him killing her aunt. When does that happen?

After that. He attacked Lydia before that too. Derek took him out in the fight where Allison's aunt died. It was such a mess. And when he died, that's when he got into Lydia's head to bring him back.

[I....think. It's been too long since I've seen this early season stuff. Whoops.]

[It's right. Cora nods as she takes stock of that because it seems like Peter was just going on a spree. He was more calculating than that.]

Why them? How did he know attacking Lydia would mean he could come back? Why Allison's aunt?

[Willow's just heading into the library to put back a book she already devoured earlier that day. As she's bopping her way through the stacks, she notices a familiar face.]

Hey, Cora. [She's all smiles for her werewolf buddy.] Whatcha up to?

Hey.

[Cora's fingers close around the piece of paper in her hand as she glances back to Willow, and there's a small smile for her in return, before she turning to Willow and holding up a finger.]

Do you know anything about the gods in this world? Like paladins and stuff?

[olreliable]

A little, not a lot. I've sort of...picked and chosen which ones caught my eye. Who are you researching?

[impetere]

[She pauses, glancing down at the piece of paper to make sure she gets it right.]

Helm the Vigilant and Torm the True. And more on just ... paladins in general and how their powers work.

[olreliable]

Oh! [Why yes! Arcane lore of 18 says she does know some stuff about those guys.] Both really good guys. Sort of more 'keep the peace' than 'peace on earth?' If that makes sense. Torm is more about making exceptions if you know it's the right thing to do? And Helm is more intense about doing the things you are commanded to do because that's the way that order works. In the end, it's all about protecting and guarding against the bad stuff, though.

What's got you researching them?

[She pauses for a moment, trying to figure out how much to tell her, but it's Willow and she trusts her not to run her mouth. Plus you never know what detail might help when you're trying to figure something out.

It doesn't matter that Lan being a werewolf is pretty much common knowledge at this point. She doesn't want to call him out all the same. The stuff with regards to his faith probably isn't something he tells to just anyone.]

There's this werewolf that I'm helping. He was a paladin before he got the bite, and when he's in human form he still has all his healing magic. I'm ... trying to convince him that maybe they don't see it as a curse either. Thing is ... I don't really know that much about how paladins work, so ... it's hard to make a convincing argument.

[Willow's whole life rn is werwolves. Wow. She seems to take it in stride, though and just nods along.]

Well, I don't think it's necessarily a matter of what you are so much as who you are. I don't know your friend- or I don't think I know your friend, at least. But if he's still doing what he can to be the do-goody paladin type, then he should be okay?

[impetere]

[So many werewolves. They are invading.

Cora nods in response to what Willow says, because it makes sense. She doesn't think the gods would punish them for something that they can't control. But at the same time, she knows that in some myths gods can be petty and cruel.]

That's what I thought. Or ... I hoped. But he thinks the only reason he can still do it is because he fights against the wolf instead of trying to find some kind of middle ground. I want to tell him that he doesn't need to, but it's so important to him, I don't want him to lose it if I'm wrong.

[It'll make him hate what he is even more, and that won't help him gain control.]

Paladins get their magic more like clerics, right? Instead of like mages? So maybe someone who was more cleric-y would know more about if the wolf would short circuit the mojo.

[She perks a bit at that, because oh hey, that's an idea. She'll have to track down Risa and see if she can answer her questions. She figures a lot of the higher ups probably know about Lan but Risa is the one she heard the story from.]

I think I might know someone I can ask.

That's great! Maybe I could... come with? [Or not. She just likes helping.] Not to just sort of shove myself in your project or anything.

[She shakes her head because no, that's perfect.]
