[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

Also, following the promotion and squiring parties at the beginning of the month, Wynn will be taking any willing Knights back to Andres Isle to further reconstruction efforts there.   There's plenty to be done - and an election to gear up for, to find out who will rule Andres Isle!

abigail ✃ open

[lurings]

[ abigail does not stay on andres. she returns to the castle and washes her hands of the whole place. part of her feels bad about it, but the other part reminds herself that she had valid enough reasons to never want to step foot on an island that brought back all of the horrible memories she tried in vain to repress.

they don't go away once she's back either, turning her already horrible sleeping and eating habits to complete shit. which means in the middle of the night she's found roaming the castle aimlessly, sometimes with a small white dog at her heels. she frequents the library and the clerics wing, teaching herself sutures while no one is there to watch, or the training room to beat up a punching bag until her arms are too tired to move but she's still not tired enough to sleep. other times she's just outside in the woods or gardens (just try to talk her out of the woods, lan, just try), reading or just wandering.

the one place you can't find her is the kitchen. ]

[witchwoman]

[It's not Myri that approaches Abigail first, but Amaranth. He's in the clerics wing while Myri is off looking at some supplies, so when Abigail walks in, he greets her with a strange noise that's almost a squawk.

No wings, though. Just looks like a big kitty for now.]

[lurings]

[ she startles slightly, but because abigail likes animals better than people it's only a breath later that she is crouching down to let the animal sniff her. lulu ambles in without so much as a glance in amaranth's direction, padding over to curl up under the desk abigail favors, tucking herself into a little ball of white fluff. ]

Hello there.

[witchwoman]

[The flywacket approaches and rubs against her leg, not at all bothered by her presence. He lets out a low rumbling purr that seems to have a calming effect.]

Amaranth? [A voice calls from the back.] Where did you get off to?

[Myri comes from around the corner and spots her familiar and Abigail.]

Oh- I see he's made himself quite at home, hasn't he?

[lurings]

[ her hand reaches out to tentatively stroke the animal's head slowly, smoothing down his glossy fur. gosh, he's so pretty. she doesn't even look up when myri approaches, focused on the dragon cat. ]

What is he? She?

[witchwoman]

He. His name is Amaranth, and he's a flywacket. He's also my familiar and very curious to meet as many people as possible now that he's back home.

[lurings]

[ what in the motherfuck is a flywacket? she doesn't ask. ]

Hello Amaranth.

[ /pays more attention to the dragon cat than the person. ]

[witchwoman]

Where I'm from, they say a flywacket is a distant cousin to a dragon.

[Meanwhile Amaranth looks up at Abigail with large, unblinking eyes and in her mind she would hear:]

[ holy shit. abigail's eyes widen and she jumps a little because SHE IS HIGHLY UNUSED TO TELEPATHY OK. no one wants to be in her head. just give abigail to the mind master. enjoy the absolute fucking influx of guilt and self-loathing and utter despair. she'd be down for the count in five seconds flat. ]

[astrid is up in the light wing supervising abigail's stitching ... because it's a slow day and she's bored. actually since it says no one is there to watch ASTRID SNUCK UP LIKE A NINJA. u can't escappeeeee]

Do you sew? Like, not on people?

[lurings]

[ OMG WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, ASTRID. she sucks in a startled breath, but that's it, eyes closed against the sudden presence of another person she hadn't realized was there. which is progress, frankly. no one got stabbed. ]

Yes. [ her eyes open and she looks up, pausing in her tiny little stitches. ] Mending, mostly.

[pathology]

[ o b l i v i o u s.] It's kind of the same. I think. I don't know, when my clothes get ripped up I just buy new ones.

[lurings]

My dad was big on self-sufficiency. [ and MURDAAAAAAAAAAAAH. ]

[pathology]

Well, my family is rich, sooo ....

[lurings]

[ she huffs out something that might be a laugh. ] Rich like you had your own castle or just regular rich?

[pathology]

Not castle, but tricked out party mansion?

[lurings]

American castle.

[Kate's back and forth between the island and the castle as needed, working on the island to keep things moving, and coming back when she needs the break. Things are getting better, slowly but surely, and she doesn't mind staying active, but sometimes you need to step back and refocus, help get your head back on straight again.

In one of her trips back to the castle, she makes her way down to the gym and sees Abigail practicing. She lets her practice for a moment, eyeing her technique, before eventually speaking up to make herself known.]

Your form is getting better. Have you been practicing a lot?

[lurings]

[ abigail turns, ponytail whipping around her head. a very small smile brightens her wan pallor when she sees kate and her head bobs in a nod. ]

Yeah. A little.

[ a lot. physical exertion is good for not thinking. ]

[killmypatience]

Good.

[She nods for a moment, before taking a few steps closer to help steady the bag for her.]

How are you doing?

[lurings]

[ her shoulders lift in a shrug and she waits until the punching bag is steady before continuing to rail against it. ]

I'm okay. It's nice that the castle is so quiet.

[killmypatience]

[She nods.]

It'll probably be a while before the castle's as crowded as it was. There is a lot of work to do on Andres.

[lurings]

Yeah.

[ and... abigail is not helping with that because she's trash. whoops. ]

[killmypatience]

[Kate's not going to judge her for that. There's only so much people can handle, let alone do, especially if you had a rough time over there.]

You were with the clerics, right? How'd that go?

[lurings]

Taradiddle tried to convince us to play strip slap.

[ dis face. ]
