[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

Also, following the promotion and squiring parties at the beginning of the month, Wynn will be taking any willing Knights back to Andres Isle to further reconstruction efforts there.   There's plenty to be done - and an election to gear up for, to find out who will rule Andres Isle!

Some of the creatures that came out of that prison were ones I didn't recognize. Obviously, I've got a lot more catching up to do. [ In case they ?? encounter anything like that ever again ?? Lydia, why would you. ] What's your excuse? Presumably you don't want to admit that you just came here to bother me.

I came to the library because I'm here all the time. I came over here because looking stuff up is what I'm supposed to be good at and I thought I could help.

[He takes a look down at the book she's reading.]

If you consider that bothering you, then guilty as charged.

[ Her expression starts out snide, but turns into a narrowed look of consideration. She likes that he has backbone, ok. Even when she's in a snappy, bitter mood. So she turns the book towards him, pushing it over. ] If there's something more encyclopedic from the Shadow World that you're familiar with, I'd love to get your recommendations.

[He's used to Dean, okay. Seeing him in snappy, bitter moods is a pretty common occurrence. He's not even kind of offended.

They'd seen some crap over the last however long.

He takes a quick look before he seems to think briefly.]

Yeah, just a second. I've got something that might work.

[And off he goes to grab the book he has in mind (ugh...know:arcane lore 26 or research 25 take your pick), and comes back with a pretty heavy volume that he sets down and then slides over to her.]

[ Lydia perks up as he brings it back, pulling the tome over and flipping through the pages of it. Reference material, not only of the beasts, but with locations and artistic representations included. Someone in the Shadow World should really invent a fucking camera, but that's neither here nor there.

It takes deliberate effort not to look too impressed, and she keeps her eyes on the book as she notes, ] Not bad. It just might do the job.

[He looks pleased to have helped, and with that done he still has a seat next to her.]

Now, before you start hiding your nose in there, why don't you tell me what's bothering you? Other than me, I mean.

[Because he sense motive'd that earlier snappiness with a nat 20.]

[ Her gaze levels uncomfortably on him as he sits down, clearly bewildered by his choice. When he follows it up with a sharing-is-caring spiel, she can’t help but roll her eyes, throwing her shoulders back and sitting up. She flips the cover shut. ]

And why would I do that?

Because you don't have a good reason not to?

[No really, what would it cost her? At best, she'll feel better and he can help. At worst, she'll feel exactly the same.]

[ Defensive: ] I'm not some pathetic little girl who needs you to swoop in and solve her problems.

Since when has taking offered help ever been pathetic?

[He gestures with his head toward the book. She didn't seem to think it meant she was little or pathetic then...]

You think I couldn't have found that on my own?

I think it would have taken longer and been more frustrating. Asking for my help simply made the process shorter and easier.

[He raises his eyebrows.]

You see where I'm going with this?

I don't know, I think you could be clearer. Maybe hit me over the head with a ton of bricks, or something.

[He doesn't take offense, okay. He's just going to stand here, looking every so slightly amused.

Wow.

[ She says it like #swoon and bats her eyelashes but quickly deteriorates into sharp sarcasm. ]

You should really consider getting a new hobby.

[And he starts to walk off, casually calling to her without looking back.]
