With most of the team staunchly convinced that about to go check out Area 51, they head off to Guadalajara, Mexico, to investigate local rumors of a crash site outside the city. One of the best things about this little trip is that even in February, it's in the seventies, so there's definitely a vacation air to arriving in the bustling city. They'll need to rent a car and head out in the direction of the supposed crash in the flat countryside. It's a fourteen hour flight so get comfortable.

On that note, do you have any weapons? [ her eyes flick between skye and peter. and then alex, malina, and carol. look, she doesn't know what they all packed. she is a weapon all by herself, but you can bet she is armed all over the place. to the point that she can share if need be. ]

[She holds up her hands again, indicating that she's got all of the weapons she needs.]

As I said. I've got my usual tricks.

[But moving on.]

And yeah, it's not the greatest plan in the world, but right now it's the best one we've got.

[There isn't enough overt evidence to make her turn around, and even if there were, she has a feeling that Peter isn't going to leave without his ship, no matter what she says.]

What, me?

[ Skye glances up at Kali in the rear view mirror, uncomfortable and put on the spot. Then her gaze flickers around the other faces in the van. ]

I'm a hacker—slash ... blogger slash activist, whatever—not a ... whatever you people are. [ Settling the van into park, she throws one arm over the back of Malina's seat and cranes back to look at them all. ] Just who the hell are you people?

[ambitionist]

[meanwhile in the bg of this alex is like counting off on his fingers to remember the shit he brought:] Gun, knife, taser, ... me ... yeah, I'm good.

[what's that? skye was asking a question???] Uh, we're kind of like the Men in Black, except instead of the alien angle it's usually just weird fuckin' shit.

[Carol holds up a fist and it glows with power. She smirks.]

I can handle anything they throw at me.

[ okay so back to skye and peter then. ]

Would you like a weapon? I have spares.

[hacker]

Hey, whoa, these people are government. Should we really be shooting our way in there? Those are innocent people. Or ... [ she shakes her head, cheeks puffing out slightly as she recants, ] semi-innocent.

[ambitionist]

We're not going in guns blazing. Just drawing up contingency plans.

[hacker]

[ She waffles, visibly uncertain for a moment, then reaches her hand out into the back of the van to accept a weapon from Kali. ]

[felidity]

[ after some wriggling, she slips off her concealed holster and passes it and the excalibur up. ] Alex is right, it's just back up. But if it comes down to it and you don't feel comfortable using it, just stay with me. I'll make sure you get out safely.

[ she doesn't look like she can make that happen, all five foot nothing of a thin frame that could be bowled over but a stiff wind, but there is a seriousness in her tone that promises she will do just that if skye needs her to, without fail and with no thought to her own safety in doing so. skye is a civilian and kali was made to protect them. ]

[ She closes her hand around the grip of the gun and turns it over in her hand, sizing it up. Then she starts rigging the concealed holster onto herself. It's an easy fit—she and Kali are roughly the same size—and she doesn't look ready to doubt Kali's abilities. ]

Things never go as smoothly as you want them to. It doesn't hurt to be prepared in case something goes wrong. But if you don't have to get close for the hack and want to hang back and work things from a distance, that's fine too.

[She's not part of the team, and she doesn't have to go that extra mile if she doesn't want to. Malina's spent enough time around members of the Hoard to know that the distance a computer provides is armor in and of itself (wisdom 15).]

But if you go in with us, we'll get you out.

[They've got two tanks, two conartists and enough magic and weapons that their disposal to even the playing field.]

[ plus peter has pulled out two futuristic guns of his own while they're talking, checking them over for damage ] Quad blasters seem to be working fine. I can handle myself.

Nice equipment. [was that meant to be some weird double-entendre? probably.]

I'll say.

[ Skye quips her agreement in a lascivious tone, still fitting the excalibur into the holster. She looks back into the van and realizes Peter is juggling laser blasters basically and clears her throat, expression straightening. ]

Oh, you were— … Forget that. [ She turns back forward in her seat. ] Are we good?

I should probably drive. Since I'm the one with the ID.

[hacker]

[ For a moment, Skye just looks viscerally uncomfortable.

Finally, she puts the parking break on and sighs heavily. ]

... Alright, fine. [ She unbuckles and starts muscling her way into the back between the seats. ] Just be gentle. The clutch sticks moving into third.

[ambitionist]

Don't worry, she'll take good care of your home. [HE COULDN'T STOP HIMSELF]

[ lmao well. kali gets out and walks around the car in order to get in the driver's seat, carefully buckling up, fingers curling tightly around the wheel.

now is probably not the time to mention she never had formal driving lessons and definitely never learned to drive a standard is it? nope. she glances at malina, eyes lifted, waiting for confirmation. ]

[Malina glances over and nods. She holds her hand up out the window and signaling for Harry to keep an overhead view for the moment and he takes off, flying back towards the compound.]

Follow that bird.

[ her drive check was a 26 so alex was right, she will take good care of skye's lifestyle choice. and off they go to the shady government facility! wheeee! ]

[Carol holds on and leans forward, trying to get a good idea of the surroundings as they drive by (spot 15). She's a superhero. Breaking into a secure government facility is just Wednesday for her.]

[ as they drive up to the gate, peter puts his blasters away and leans up between the seats, saying urgently: ] Wait, wait, wait. [ he stabs the eject button with a finger, rescuing his tape and holding it up triumphantly, glancing at skye as if he's holding a gold bar ] ... Just in case. [ something happens to your van/home ]

[Malina just glances over her shoulder, raising an eyebrow back at him because really, but will then return to the focus to the matter at hand, checking the road ahead of them for any sign of guards (spot 8). The sun is probably in her eyes or something because she's not getting much.]

Wow. Seriously?

[ Scandalized by his lack of faith, Skye is too distracted to really sweep the area (spot also 8). ]
