Strange transmissions cutting into radio stations with no recognizable source. Mysterious messages in Shadowkind languages that no one's been able to decipher. And very few leads on where to go with all of this, except for a couple names of some of the random citizens who seem to have received the messages. It's hardly much to go on, but definitely an interesting mystery, that takes the small team into the heart of NYC. They arrange their flight to arrive after sundown, for Davin's sake, and he's pretty openly scornful about being assigned to what's likely a wild goose chase.

Well, New York is trash, so. [ wrinkling her nose, she takes matt's arm because she's not running after this guy by herself okay. so they're gonna hurry after him together. matt's life is just being bossed around by gingers, i guess. ]

[ they push through the crowd, keeping eyes on the man, who plops the bunny on the counter, expression grim as he has it rung out. davin hangs back enough to watch the scene unfold, but as the guy is pulling out his cash, all of their phones buzz with a text message. including sawyer's.

davin pulls up his phone to look at it with a frown. the message is in elvish, but can be run through a translator to get the following:

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. ] Are you guys seeing this?

Guess we need to wrestle the big guy for the Furby, huh?

[ she peers at davin's phone instead of taking her own out, looking between him and matt with a face full of scrunched up indecision. option a, failure is totally an option, ask her senior government teacher. failure is a fine option. option b, you know, the opposite. success! ]

Oh! I could tase him. [ that is an option. ] Wonder what happens if you do fail?

[ actually, i rolled a spot check to see if she would notice anyone else looking at their phones when theirs went off and it was a 21, so she probably sees sawyer? and if so will nudge both her boys and nod in her direction like ?????? MAYBE HER TOO? ]

Personally, I'd rather whatever it was? Happened to that guy. [ a+ knight, davin. ] Let's wait til he's outside.

Okay. [ alice will just head to the doors then and try to find a prime tasing spot. ]

[ Matt gives a bit of a, well, appreciative look towards Alice because... ]

You just carry a taser all the time, do you?

Sure do. And handcuffs. [ she flashes him a grin. ]

[ Yep. Talk. Sorry, were they doing something? ]

[Sawyer is basically just going to, latch onto this group because she likes the odds of 4 against 1 instead of her against Rambo and her second Listen Check - which I'm giving her because otherwise too hard ma -Listen 20 total - means she's at least clued up on the plan, her phone with it's message still in her hand as she warns the redhead with an;]

Aim high. He's wearing body armor. [A beat.] I'm with the big guy - [Jerking a thumb at Davin.] Totally okay with whatever it is happening to Rambo and not me.

[ part of her bristles that the stranger doesn't think she can properly tase a man, but she recognizes it meant well and she nods absently, fiddling with the weapon while somehow keeping it hidden from plain sight. (sleight of hand 28) #justhoudinithings

and then she looks at davin, hint of smugness on her expression, like "i told you so". only she didn't tell him, she just pointed, but w/e. ]

[ davin looks at sawyer like wait who is this and how did she-- ukw nvm. basically his thought process, playing out on his face for y'all, yw. ] Come on. [ the guy grabs his rabbit and makes a break for the door. ] We don't need to lose him in the crowd.

[ As they move closer, Matt looks around trying to see if there's anybody they need to look out for (spot 2) but apparently he's too busy thinking about the whole taser thing to actually be doing any good? ]

[ alice has the eagle eyes (spot 22) so she follows him like a duckling following it's mom. she's probably just as easy to follow since her bright hair basically acts as a beacon. gonna get u, bunbun. ]

[Average Spot Checks are Average (13) so, Sawyer's going to keep Alice in her line of sight and trust in the redheaded beacon.]

[ alice and davin keep the best line on him, and they lead the group in pushing through the sidewalk crowds after him. he cuts down a side alley, that seems to be a shortcut to the next street over. davin nods to alice. seems to be their chance. ]

[ alice takes that nod to mean, "go for it, kid!" so she hurries quietly after him (move silently 30, hide 31) to get in range. once she's close enough, she depressed the trigger and a burst of compressed air fires a pair of darts at the guy. (atk 26, dmg 2) he has to make a fort save (dc 15) or be paralyzed for 5 rounds. hopefully he fails or alice is gonna get shanked.

[ his fort save is a 14! his body wracks with shock, and davin is at his side in a second, grabbing his gun. ]

[ she sags in relief. ] Oh thank god.

[ look, last time that went downright terribly for her and her hand flattens against her torso where the scar from being run through with the sword remains as a lasting mark that she almost died on andres. ]

Grab the fucking bunny. [ she's too busy... breathing and stuff. ]

[And because somebody needs to get the Bunny away from tazed guy and nobody else is doing it, Sawyer is going to edge in and do just that.]

[ since the guy is still paralyzed, davin gets a grapple on him. ] Go!

[ alice makes a grab for matt and the other girl, ushering them away just as davin has instructed, even as she looks back at him to ask: ]

What are you gonna do?

Explain things to him nicely. [ uh huh ]

No. [ sense motive 20 total, i'm sure she didn't need that high tbh to catch that he's being facetious. the single word is not so much a hint of warning as one of those sign spinners dancing in the street with DON'T YOU FUCKING DO IT in big day glow, neon pink letters. in bold. and italics. she's not the mission leader, but fuck if she's going to just stand by and watch unnecessary violence happen. ] Disable him, restrain him, ask him if he's running on the same info we are, and we'll call the cops. He's going to jail, nothing else needs to happen.
