The Knights arrive in Aursaburg to help the villagers with a problem they've been having with a local witch. The little village seems fairly quiet, but the team would be able to hear some rather heated words spoken a bit down the road from them. It escalates to shouting in a hurry, with the most noticeable word of the bunch being 'witch.' Faye glances at the others, realizing that oh shit- I'm in charge. Squaring her shoulders, she gestures for the group to follow her down the road.

"Sounds like our cue." Whatever is going on in this town seems to be happening thatta way.

[Taradiddle's running out of spells, but the least she can do is try and alleviate some of the damage (cure light wounds - 6 hp). It's not nearly enough, but hopefully it can at least keep her alive a little longer.]

[Cora is startled by the force of the attack, knocking her slightly off balance for a moment, but she still comes back at the creature again, slashing with both sets of claws (attack 27, damage 16, attack 25, damage 15).]

[The creature goes to let out a growl of rage, but Cora just... rips her throat out. The sound is nothing more than a gurgle as the last bit of life escapes her and the massive, hideous woman collapses to the ground in a heap.

Faye, finally having drawn her gun walks over and puts a bullet in her head.]

Just... to be safe. [this has been way too horror movie for her to take any chances. She glances around the dark room for a moment before she remembers something slightly handy...

She has robot flashlight eyes... so you're welcome everyone, Faye's eyes are lighting up the dark room a bit better.]

Let's look around fast and get the hell out of here.

Woah, what spell is that? [She isn't too distracted by how cool it is to keep her own eyes wide open. She searches the room super carefully (search 23).]

[Things that happened and nobody here is surprised by it?! The scary thing got destroyed before Kenzi even had a chance to pull out her gun.]

And that right there is why you're Team leader! [Which, actually sounds like a compliment tbh. That was for the bullet in the head not the flashlight eyes ftr.]

Big fan of fast... [As she snoops ar- Are you kidding me right now?! As she fails to do anything but stand there and recover her bladder cause she crit failed her search check.]

[Cora is just going to stay in wolf form for a bit because it seems easier if something's waiting in the woodwork, and she's just going to sniff around and see what she finds (survival 21, search 14). She's still looking for Autumn's scent, if it's anywhere to be found.]

[They find some stuff! Well, mostly Cora. Those crazy tracking skills. There's more gold/jewels for Kenzi and Taradiddle to be excited about. And also a small, worn book. Autumn's scent is also in the air but it's extremely faint, and the overwhelming smell of mold makes it hard to follow from down here.]

[Cora will reach forward to pick up the book and flip it open to see what's inside as she speaks. If Kenzi and Taradiddle want the gold and stuff they can go for it - she doesn't really care.]

Autumn was here, but she's gone now - there's too much mold for me to follow it from down here, and she's been gone for a while.

[Sweet, gold and jewels! Taradiddle stuffs her pockets and beckons Kenzi over since no one else on this mission is any fun.]

So where do we go now? She's just... gone?

[Mental brofist for T-Diddle to be honest as she... gives herself an extra cupsize or two by stuffing shit down there.]

Aren't there like, magical GPS spells or something that can tell us where to find her?

[While Kenzi and Taradiddle scoop up the treasure, Faye gently plucks the book from Cora's hands and opens it up. She starts reading aloud:]

I told Mrs. Henchal about Big Sister, but she doesn’t believe me. She just whooped me for fibbing. But I know Big Sister is real.

Most miserable day ever. Marcos the boy I liked, the one I told you about a few pages ago, is just like the rest only meaner. He lied when he said he would go to the Solstice Dance with me. He just stood there and lied. And Gracelle was there with him and everyone else laughing at me. I hate them all. I wish they all died. Big Sister says that they deserve it, but I’m so scared ... I wish my folks were still alive....

Everyone wants to kill me—even Mrs. Hench! I had to run. They say I’m a witch. And I think I am one too. I can move things and make fire. I’m evil....

I skinned my knee on some roots and was crying when Big Sister found me. She’s like this old lady (when you can see her), but she somehow reminds me of mom. She gave me this necklace with a big pearl —it’s real pretty —and she took me to her house in the swamp. It was real scary with the wolves and the blackbirds and all, but the scariest was her sister. She’s called Lonni and she’s real tall and pale like a drowned person. She has these teeth like....

Big Sister lives in a magic castle to the Northwest. She says that one day she will take me there.

[Pulling the book back, Faye just shakes her head.]

Jesus, this shit is creepy.

[Her head tips the side as she listens to that, before looking around and directing her attention to the corpse of the monster she just murdered.]

I'm gonna guess that's Lonni. But who's Big Sister?

[Not that that's a question anyone wants to answer, but ... ]

Maybe we should try and find this "magic castle"?

Wasn't the ghost on the boat ranting about her sister? You don't think..? [Faye snaps the book shut and jerks her head towards the stairs.]

Whatever we do, it's not going to be in this creepy murder basement. I say we get back outside and figure out a game plan.

[And unless anyone objects, she'll just lead the way to get them out of this gross smelling hovel.]

[Cora nods in agreement, because she doesn't want to be down here either. So up the stairs she goes to collect her kitty friend so they can keep moving.]

[Yep. As soon as Taradiddle and Kenzi have finished gathering the treasure, she's gonna follow right after them.]

[Assuming Kenzi will follow too and not hang out in the creepy murder basement... As soon as they make it outside and away from the worst of the stench from the house, Cora would more easily catch that scent, stronger here, coming from the northeast of where they currently are. The little cat friend in her arms would also start to struggle a bit, trying to get down.]

[Which Cora will let him do, ready to follow him to wherever he wants to go.]

[Bad memories of creepy murder basements for this one she is... so coming. And... seeing the cat struggling.]

I swear to Bob if this turns out to be a Mummy. [Muttered under her breath. Apparently she thinks this Mission is like, every movie she's ever watched coming to haunt the fuck out of them.]

[Between Cora and the familiar, the group is able to navigate a path to the northeast with little trouble. They end up deep in a wooded area, with no road in sight. By now, night is starting to fall.

Honestly, Kenzi's horror movie theory may not be that far off.

Cora's basically ignoring her, though, and keeping her ears peeled for any sign of trouble as they go (listen 30).]

[Man, there's this one really annoying song stuck in Taradiddle's head and try as she might she can't get it out so she's quietly bobbing her head to it slash occasionally trying to switch to another song which never is a thing that works and it's just really distracting (listen 5).]

But at least she's actually listening this time instead of humming the theme to The Shining or something. (Listen 21).]

[Both Kenzi and Cora can hear a few sticks snapping to the right of the path they're walking. Cora, with the more keen ears would hear a quiet exchange of gruff words.]

Quiet, brother. We'll have our chance to beat them bloody soon enough.

[The voice is familiar but I don't expect you guys to remember shit from like... April so. It's the ogre brothers that you fought outside the cave. Surprise! They don't know just yet that you're onto them so do with that what you see fit. Taradiddle and Faye both seem unaware of this development.]

[Well ... awesome. Cora doesn't look towards the direction of the sound right away, but she will reach forward to try and get Faye's attention by grabbing her wrist and once Faye is looking at her, tipping her head back slightly towards the direction of the ogres as though to say HEY THERE'S TROUBLE COMING.]

[Faye glances back at Cora like WHAT?? A wis of 15 gives here enough sense to not actually say that out loud, though. She's starting to get what Cora is dropping, but there's still time for Kenz to react to what she's heard!]
