I'm not making anything. [ she's punching a punching bag to death, again, despite knowing it probably worries skye when she gets like this. skye isn't in the room at the moment. ]

I rotate it. [ like duh rocket. she doesn't want to have to go and replace it already. ] Why do you sound like Alex when he's upset? You're from space and he's from Brooklyn, New York!

[ too much suddenly doesn't make sense in her tiny little world view, she wants to clarify as many things as possible. ]

'Cause it's how my voicebox translates to English. Flark if I know. [That is a weird question, Kali.] If it makes you feel any better, I'd be takin' all this about the same as you.

[ snapped as she throws an especially devastating punch, ] You don't know how I'm taking this.

[beatupgrass]

[he slumps to the floor.] Like you wanna punch out a god?

I don't believe in god. And you don't know how I feel, no one knows how I feel. [ well, alex knows how she feels because she exploded all over him, but that's not what she means. ] They're my feelings.

[beatupgrass]

All right, all right. [he hits his tiny furry head against the door.] I mean I'd know how it'd feel if it was me, and it would look a lot like that. That's all I'm tryin' to say here. I ain't good with... feelings.

[felidity]

Obviously. [ it's mean, but she can't stop the word spilling out. ]

[beatupgrass]

[in a softer tone than most people would ever believe he's capable of.] I'm tryin', Kali. You're not even the first friend I've ever had come back from the dead, but you're the first one who was... like me that did.

[felidity]

[ she finally softens, expression turning dangerously fragile as she studies the punching bag. ] I'm the first one I know, too.

[beatupgrass]

[he thunks his head against the door again.] I don't even remember the others, but they don't do this shit back on... [no, he's not even gonna say the name of that place] ..back where I'm from. Groot's different. He's a freakin' tree.

[he stares at his hands for a moment.] And I know I got so much borrowed hardware in me that who's to say they're gonna know what to look for when they do all that spiritual crap? How does any of that work, anyway? Souls don't got nametags or "if found, return to this guy" things on 'em.

[felidity]

I don't remember anything, just pain and then I was awake. [ her fingers curl back into fists. ] Still in pain.

[ she knows, intellectually, that solace healed her completely before he even attempted the wild pursuit of resurrecting a moreau, but that didn't register with her brain right away. nor has it yet fully registered if the way she wakes up in the middle of the night feeling flames lick across her skin is any indication. ]

[beatupgrass]

[he runs a hand over his face.] I wish I knew how to help you, kid.

[felidity]

Me too. [ she wishes anyone knew how to help her. maybe she should talk to solace, but she's not sure he really deals with the aftermath of that whole thing. ]

[beatupgrass]

[he flattens his ears against his skull.] You don't wish they'd just left you alone, d'you?

No, otherwise it wouldn't have worked in the first place. [ she sits down where she's standing, bag swinging idly towards her before she lifts a hand to still it, fingers drifting to the bar code on the back of her neck, nails scratching at the mark, adding red lines to the black. ] I wanna be alive, I wanna live. I wanna keep kissing strangers and being a shark pup. But I don't want to feel like this, I don't want to feel like my expiration date has come and gone. It feels like I'm still there, on fire and in pain, all the time, and I'm scared and I hate it.

[beatupgrass]

[he hesitates for a moment and then awkwardly walks over to sit down beside her.] Some shit don't go away no matter how hard we try to move past it. I know that don't make it easier to deal with, but feelings are stupid and not supposed to be easy to deal with. And sometimes I take comfort in that, y'know? 'Cause I could not have any at all, and then I'd just be a dumb animal.

[felidity]

I just want to stop. [ right now she would prefer no emotions, none at all, it certainly seemed like it would be easier to cope. ]

[beatupgrass]

[hnngh. kali you break his black little heart.] Guess you could always go with my old stand-by... Pretend it's okay 'til you forget why it ain't.

[felidity]

I'm not any good at lying. [ she's actually profoundly bad at it. ]

[beatupgrass]

From experience? It's a hell of a lot easier to lie to yourself than it is to other people.

[most of the time.]

That doesn't seem healthy.

Healthier than drinkin' it away, which... I also do.

I can't get drunk. [ which means drinking it pointless, but at least skye is working on finding her something she might actually like to drink. ]
