I can relate. Though I know what it is I am missing, I just don't know how to find it.

[Well, that certainly has her curious. She watches him, taking a sip of her drink to cover the consideration before asking the question.]

What are you looking for?

[a drink arrived for him, and he stared over the edge of the whiskey tumbler a moment]

My family.

[he sipped from the drink, trying not to let the pang of loss and sadness show on his face, but he crit failed miserably at that]

[Her face softens even more, before nodding her agreement.]

I'm sorry. Did you lose track of them?

I was five when I was taken from them. By the time I was able to get free from the militia I was no longer in my home country. It took many years for me to return, and by then... [he shrugged]

[She nods once, before tipping her head to the side.]

You know, I used to find people for a living. Maybe between us and Wynn's resources we could figure it out.

It is one of the reasons I joined the knights. I'm hoping that my path here will lead me to being able to find them.

[he gave her a small smile]

I would be in your debt if you helped me with this.

I would be happy to help. I'm sure Wynn wouldn't mind if we made use of his resources for something like this.

I would not even know where to begin. I have tried on my own but the trail went cold that I was following, and I couldn't turn up any other breadcrumbs.

Do you remember their names?

I'm not sure. I think I remember my mother being called Mosi. Or it could have been my father. Mosi is a unisex name in Egypt. It means Born First. It is a very common name.

[She nods in agreement, as she pulls out her phone to take notes.]

Did you have a family name that you can remember?

[he shook his head sadly]

No. They took it from me. [he took another sip of his drink and then just stared at it as he spoke softly] They took a lot from me.

[Kate nods, before reaching over to squeeze his arm gently.]

Well, whatever you do have? We can use to help find them. It just may take a little time.

[he nodded, giving her a small smile in return]

Thank you. I only wish we would be able to work the same to give you the same answers in your life.

[She gives a small shrug.]

Not all mysteries can be solved. But this one, I think we can at least find something.

For me, it has felt as if the insurgents have stolen who I was. Who I am... that will never be a complete idea for me until I know where I come from.

Then we'll try and figure it out. Just get me everything you can remember and we'll get started.

[the smirk on his lips is habit. But he's not actually thinking about taking her to his room for the reason he would normally take a hot woman to his room.

No, no, now he's thinking about it. Sorry, Kate]

[Mmm-hmmm. Kate is sort of getting that (sense motive 14). But as charmed as she is, she's not that charmed. Yet.

Still, she wasn't lying about helping. She can go to his room but not stay.]

Sure. Sounds good.

[he would wait though for another refill, until he had a nice buzz going. It took a lot for Baal to get trashed.]

So how are you doing with your ice princess powers?

[Kate gives a small shrug.]

There hasn't been a great deal of improvement, but I'm working on it. Or trying, anyway.

Is there anyone here who has a similar gift that can train you?

[She pauses before shaking her head.]

Not that I've seen. But I think I might start asking around the Fire and Mind sects, just to see if here's someone who might be able to help.

I can ask among those I know. Or perhaps Wynn can point you to a teacher?
