The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Nah, I'll hit up a drive through or something, if need be. Let's just find us a pub! [ and she takes another swig from her bottle while they're still out in the country and away from heavy traffic police. oh yeah, there's probably gps equipped in all the vehicles, so she'll mess with that, too. apparently she's used to multi-tasking while driving.

the gps lights up with a digital map to the nearest pub, a woman's monotone voice directing them to their next turn. ]

[She's his little modern technology angel, tbh. Thoster just continues to drink and bobs his head to the music. He's likely about halfway through his bottle by the time they near the pub, but he's a pirate so he's got this apparently (fort save nat 20 good god). In the meantime, he'll make some conversation while they drive.]

So who'd they squire you to again?

Faith, Faith O'Keefe. I think you know her, right? We've been friends for... awhile, I guess. Before I came here, at least.

And you? You're not still a squire though, are you?

[bluffcheck]

No! You and Faith? There's a pair for the ages. Yeah- we're friendly. She's quite the girl.

[Give him a minute to take another drink before he gets to the next question.]

Full fledged knight, and quite proud of it, actually. Never would have dreamed this would be a life I could have ever found myself in, but truthfully? If not for missing my family, there's nothing about it that I would change.

Huh. [ she seems to consider that for a moment before speaking up again ] You have a big family back home?

Ohh, big enough, I suppose. Two younger brothers and a baby sister joined my crew when they were barely old enough to get their sea legs. [Even if he hasn't lied about anything tonight, this is the most genuine he's been. Thoster can't help but soften whenever he brings up his siblings.]

What about you? Any family you can remember?

One of the few things I do manage to remember, most of the time. I have an old half-sister, and a younger half-sister. I guess I'm closer to my older sister, since we grew up together, but the youngest, she's a lot younger than me. My mom, she's still around, too. And my dad, and step-dad.

[bluffcheck]

Seems you've got more family than I. [Another drink from the bottle as he flashes a smile, trying not to let the mood drop.] Never knew my father. And my mother died before I came through the Veil. My ship's named for her, actually.

What's her name?

Alice. And much like my mother was in life, my ship's as sturdy as they come and has seen me through the darkest times.

That seems... sweet, I guess. [ she's not the sentimental sort ] I was never really close with my mother. Or anyone, really.

[bluffcheck]

Anyone? [He turns towards her a bit.] Y'said that you and Faith were friends. Don't consider yourself to be close with her, though?

She's awesome and fun, for sure. I mean, I care about her, I guess. I've just never met anyone I couldn't leave without saying goodbye, and never see again.

I don't really think of it as a bad thing. Helps me keep my independence. [ the gps speaks up again, and it seems to throw her off a bit ] Wait, where were we going again?

[bluffcheck]

[Thoster wouldn't call it a bad thing at all. She's in it for the fun and doesn't much care to be tied down. Right now? That pretty much sums up the life he's trying to get back to. He opens his mouth to tell her as much, but instead, she asks that last question.]

A pub, I believe. Forgotten already? [He gestures to the bottle at her feet, as if that's to blame.]

[ she laughs, a little uneasily at first, but she seems to relax pretty quickly ] Yeah, maybe I should lay off until we at least get there.

[bluffcheck]

[He's clueless to that laugh being anything but embarrassment (wis 5) so he reaches over and gives her thigh a quick pat.]

No harm. I think it's telling us we're close by anyway.

[Possibly not. He's terrible with technology.]

Oh, right. [ she takes a quick glance at the screen ] We're right outside of town, so should just be a couple minutes.

[ at least she's aware enough to use a bit of caution when driving through the city. it wouldn't be good to draw attention from the authorities in a hot-wired car with booze, after all. finally she pulls up in front of a bar, music blaring out into the street, a crowd of people smoking by the door.

putting the car in park, she turns to him, smiling away ] We're here!

[bluffcheck]

[Better that she's in charge of driving, then, because Thoster has no clue that caution at all would be needed. He takes a few more drinks from his bottle as they pull up to the pub, grinning back at her once he hears that music.]

Oh, you bet we are. Come on! [He throws open his door and jumps out, arms flung out wide in the direction of the crowd of smokers.]

Fear not, good people! The night is young and the entertainment has arrived.

[ his panache immediately upon exiting the car makes her ever more excited for this than she was earlier. she gets out, too, clapping her hands together at his declaration, clearly very excited for wherever this may be going.

she rounds the vehicle and loops her arm through his. ] Are you really going to sing again? [ she sure hopes so ]

[Once she has her arm looped through his, Thoster grins down at her before starting to walk towards the pub.]

Well, of course! I perform best with a large audience, after all. I thought it only fair to give you my best.

[ she squees, clapping her hands together again ] You are the best, like, ever, you know that? This is going to be awesome!

[bluffcheck]

I certainly try. [He says with a laugh as he holds open the door and ushers her inside.]

Find us a table and order something strong for the both of us. I need to talk to a man about a stage. [He nods in the direction of a small area at one end of the bar where it seems they do some live music. It's unoccupied for now. So Thoster's going to scrounge together a band.]

Cool. [ she navigates through the crowded bar, securing a table and flagging down the waitress. she actually orders them both a couple shots and a couple beers, now that someone else is pouring the drinks. then, she waits for him there, trying to peek above heads and around bodies for any sign of him. ]

[Thoster has no trouble convincing the owner to let him use the stage and even gets a few names of regulars who could help play some instruments to back him up (diplomacy 28). What a helpful bar owner! So a little bit after Fiona finishes ordering drinks, there's a throat clearing sound over the microphone that's now on, and there's Thoster, up front and center with a grin on his face. The recorded music cuts out, causing a strange void of sound to fill the bar instead. Thankfully, Thoster doesn't let silence reign for long.]

I hope everyone's having a good time tonight. I know I am. [He winks in Fiona's direction.] So I promised a pretty girl that I would sing for you all. This one's for the lovely Fiona.

[And then he launches into it. And if I were more prepared, I would have a song picked out but shhhhh. He gets the musicians to play something simple to back him up, and true to his word, Thoster is quite impressive when he has a proper audience (perform 21). He sings his heart out, laughs and jumps around. It's really high energy and by the end of it he's out of breath.]

[ for the first few moments after his little speech, fiona can't shake this overwhelming feeling of deja vu, and until it passes she's caught up reeling from said emotions, each one more abstract, while also more familiar, than the last. but as the performance picks up, something in her brain just shuts off, and within seconds she's all but forgotten the occurrence, instead choosing to jump up to her feat and participate in thoster's performance with all she's got (perform: dance 19).

when he finishes, she's the one hooting and hollering from the crowd, clapping louder than anyone else in the bar. ]
