[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [one day, alex shows up at the front desk looking vaguely distressed.] Did anyone bring a phone up here?

[receptionist]

[Cheryl is half listening. She's currently Googling 'what do I do if a ginger kid bit me?' when he approaches the desk. She seems very invested in the answer to this, because first there was just one baby but now everyone is getting pregnant and it's gross to think there's going to be all those vicious creatures being spawned!!!

Finally, when she realizes that it's definitely something she needs to print out and highlight, she turns her attention to.....

Alex. As in 'ALEX :)' from her notes with Skye. He's sort of... tall. Has almost that fireman vibe going for him, but he doesn't seem like the fireman type.]

A phone? Let me check. [She'll feel around her desk, but she's mostly looking at him. Ha ha. Not a very thorough check going on here.]

It must feel very suffocating to be without something you need.

Definitely. I've got all sorts of shit on that phone. I mean, it's locked and has the fingerprint lock thing too and whatever, but still. Are you even — [he's not satisfied with her unthorough searching and walks around to her side to help look for it . :| but with a search crit fail he's not getting anywhere fast...]

[receptionist]

[Okay, so he gets points for being so forward! He seems like he's willing to break rules to get what he wants. Good, good.

She'll open a drawer touch a few things and then close it. Cheryl smiles at him.]

I don't remember anyone dropping it off...

[She wheels over to another set of cabinets and opens drawers and does a more thorough search. Slightly. Her search 16 might help... if someone actually turned it in.]

[it's not there anyway, so. yay :'( ] Shit. Well, I guess you can email me or something if someone brings it up, okay? [he writes his email address and name on a post-it on the desk. you know ... alex karamazov. the "ALEX :)"]

[receptionist]

[Oh, she knows. She knows a lot and she actually stills to look at his hand as he grips the pen to write his email address down.]

Have you ever gotten a manicure? [They are for men too. She wheels back over to him.]

[ambitionist]

Uh, a few times, a long time ago. My big sister was in beauty school for awhile, basically used to torture me and my sisters for practice. Why ...?

[receptionist]

I just think that with all the missions that everyone has been out on a bit of pampering might be needed.

[Her hands reach out, as if she's suddenly the manicure whisperer.]

Can I see?

[ambitionist]

Uh, yeah, sure. [it's weird, but he doesn't really care that much so he just lets her look at his hands. his right hand has a pale scar on both the back of his hand and his palm, not entirely noticeable unless you're looking for it. otherwise they're just normal hands. man hands. in proportion with the rest of his 6'2"-iness.]

[receptionist]

[She looks at them, lays her hands beneath his as if she's actually looking at his nails or whatever she's supposed to be looking at.]

Have you ever choked someone?

[receptionist]

On mission. I mean, you seem strong enough and your hands seem like they'd be adequate. Some people like to use weapons, others use their hands. [She asks it as if it's just a normal question.]

[ambitionist]

Nah, not on a mission. I mean, you're right, I probably could, but I prefer more of a gentle touch. With a bullet.

[receptionist]

A bullet is hardly gentle. They tear through muscle and flesh, fragments breaking off and creating searing pain.

Choking someone... it slowly removes their oxygen, their vision blurring at the sides as it gets a bit darker bit by bit. They're looking into your eyes, and you know that it's you that's doing this for them. Letting them go into that drift of eternity... [She seems a bit ... off in her own thoughts here.] It's that moment where you're holding their life literally in your own hands and in a moment you could just let go and they'd sputter and gasp, that quick sucking breath into lungs so fast that it stings, it reminds you that you're alive.

[receptionist]

[She glances at him, trying to evoke that innocent look. Bluff 15.]

Wait... are you into it? [Clearly he's just pushing his own interests onto her! She's never even thought of such a lurid thing.]

[ambitionist]

[sense motive 21 :| also he shrugs. ] I'll try anything once. You sound like that Fifty Shades of Gray hack when you talk about it.

[receptionist]

Fifty Shades of what? [She's not into reading books.]

I mean, you said sexy choking thing. [Clearly he's into it. She just needs to phrase it correctly.]

[his will save was a whole 11. it's been more than 24 hours since he's had sex so even tho she definitely seems somewhere on the higher end of the hot-crazy graph, he's like ... ukw, why not.] Right now, or in general?

She glances to the clock in the corner of her desktop and tries to figure out how she stayed this long at the desk! Really, she should have left hours ago.]

[As much as she wants to say "HERE IS FINE." she realizes (somehow miraculously wisdom 16) that it wouldn't look good and she might lose her job if she actually had sex on the front desk.]

Is your room closer than [idk where Cheryl's room is, but we can say it's in a location near-ish to the front desk. Lord knows if it was too far away she might get distracted and never show up to work. So, she just tells him where her room is in this little spot of empty dialog...] ??

[probably in the squire's wing?? which means it would be close-ish. or closer than his, anyway —] Nah, I'm on the second floor. Look, we can make it quick. No worries. [clearly time has washed away any guilt he may have felt after he abandoned the desk for like a couple hours and lis'sa lectured him about it and gave him the creeps.]

[receptionist]

[Cheryl leaves the desk all the time!! She probably shouldn't -- but she gets so bored sitting there all day.]

I'm not worried. [Really, she's not worried at all. She just turns her screen off and slips her magazine under the keyboard and she moves to join him on the other side of the desk.]

Right this way. [She'll lead him to her room!]
