[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

Cora comes back from the mission in London smelling like a sewer, clothes in tatters and covered in blood. It's not exactly the prettiest sight but other than being a mess and massively being in need of a nap, she's fine. After debriefing Wynn, she heads to her room, cleans up with a quick shower, and curls up in bed with her dog to better facilitate her passing the hell out. If anyone is looking for her directly after that mission, that is where she'll be, both asleep and not, taking the R & R she needs to fully heal up and get herself back to where she needs to be.

As soon as that has passed, however, she can be found in all of her usual haunts. Her favorite place to be is outside, either taking runs around the ground, working with Liam and Malia on the full moons, or just hanging out with Mellie. In almost all instances, save for the full moons, she has a near-constant shadow in the form of a Bernese Mountain Dog named Bernie. Bernie is generally friendly and very well trained, but he can also get a little overexcited at times. He's still (technically) a puppy, so you'll have to forgive him on that one.

She also is a regular staple in the training room, whether it's practicing with one of her sparring partners or just taking advantage of the strength training equipment. Another one of her usual haunts is the library, but her focus has shifted slightly from what it used to be. Paladins and werewolves are still present, but her looking into the idols from her last mission have effectively been tossed to the side and she's now moved on to more magic in general. She doesn't know how to use it, but she figures she should at least try to learn more about it.

Other than that, she can be found pretty much anywhere in the castle including the kitchen, the TV room as she tries to improve her pop culture education, and the computer lab when she eventually gets bored of books. But feel free to put her character anywhere, and she will find you.

[Post Dead of Winter stuff is backdated to end of February if you want to play with that specifically, but beyond put her anywhere on the timeline and she should be around.]

It was when he was leaving the firing range that he saw the young woman working out in the training room. He would have kept going if he hadn't noticed just how much weight she was lifting on the equipment (spot 19). That alone had him stopped, impressed.

"That is a lot of weight you are lifting." Stating the obvious, of course.

"Yep."

That's about all the answer he gets, because it's about to be clear that she can handle it. She starts doing reps again and she lifts the weight easily (strength 19). Werewolf strength can come in handy when doing stuff like this. She doesn't speak again until she finishes the set, giving her arms a chance to relax and release the tension.

"I've been working at it a while."

"So since you were a child?" There is a small smirk. She was tiny and looked very young to him. Not too young, but young.

Well, she is very young. At this point she's only eighteen, so it's not like Baal is wrong there. She finishes her set before glancing back to him, raising an eyebrow in return. "Pretty much. Why?"

"Color me intrigued. It is not often one meets a young woman who is able to lift what would be equal to a young cow in weight."

"Maybe not where you're from, but they're pretty common around here." The Hide is full of deceptively tiny girls who can punch really hard. It's actually a rather hilarious disparity - big burly men on one side and lithe looking girls on the other. "Nobody around here is exactly as they seem."

"A fact I have been coming to learn here quickly." He went to sit on a bench across from her. "I have not been here long to see more than just hear though."

She nods for a moment, finishing her set before setting her weights to the side. "Is there something I can help you with? I know the gym pretty well."

"No, I am just one who enjoys to talk and know others. If you are busy, I can leave you to your workout."

[if you thought will wasn't going to approach her with a doggie u r wrong. NEW DOG NEW DOG. okay maybe it's more like his dog family is like OMG NEW DOG NEW DOG LET'S ALL MAKE FRIENDS. bernie is swallowed by his dog posse.]

Woah! Hey! Uh ... sorry.

[Bernie is personally thrilled to be swallowed by the dog posse. He looks a little confused at first, but it's not long after before he's sniffing butts and getting friendly and generally looking very pleased. Cora also doesn't seem bothered, glancing over at Will with a small smile.]

Don't worry about it. He could use some canine friends.

[he watches the dogs be all friendly and sniffy instead of looking at cora. maybe he feels a little guilty about accidentally shooting her all that time ago. even if everyone totally bought it was sark. (unsure)]

Have you had him long?

[Well, she did cost Sark his shoes. No one would blame her for buying it. She also wouldn't have taken it personally given that there was all that obscuring mist around. But she's completely oblivious because as far as she's concerned, it's just Will being Will. He has a little trouble with eye contact.]

Since January? One of the other knights rescued a bunch of puppies and kittens and she was offering them to the knights before she took them to the shelter.

Oh, right. I remember that. I thought about taking one, but ... [he can't come to the dogs ok. the dogs have to come to him. /rolls eyes at william]

[She glances at him, trying to see where the trail off was, before turning back to the pile of dogs that Bernie is currently swimming in.]

Wynn has a dog-per-knight limit?

[It's worth a guess, Will does have a million.]

I don't think so ... but I try to let the dogs come to me, instead of the other way around.

[She pauses, tipping her head to the side a bit as she considers that.]

You want the dog to choose you?

Yeah. Is that strange?

"Hey kiddo," Alice says, walking into the computer lab and dropping down into the chair next to Cora once she notices her.

They don't know each other all that well, but she's besties with Abigail and Will seems to like her and her dog (whom Alice briefly looks around for and finds when Bernie pops his big head out from under the desk and drops it in her lap like hello you smell like doge, are you doge, i love you), and that's good enough for Alice to be quite honest.

Her hands are full of papers shoved into a book on magic that she sets down so she has hands free for petting. "Yes, hi, hello, I'm here to cater to your every whim." She glances up at Cora with a half smile. "How did I get so whipped by dogs? Whatcha up to?"

"Dogs kind of sneak up on you that way. I'm sure it's not your fault." There's a small smirk at that before she tips her screen to the side so that Alice can see. She's mostly just messing around on the internet like a normal teenager but there are a few tabs present on actual magical/work related things.

"Just messing around. The books I was looking into weren't really getting me anywhere, so I was trying to find a more modern source."

"Can't blame you, the library gets boring after a while. Maybe I can help?"

No she can't, she's horrible at research! It always comes up with goose eggs. She's smart, but she's smart in specific fields.

She can't fare any worse than Cora is at the moment. She feels like she's exhausted all of her resources with nowhere to really turn to learn more. But if Alice is offering to help, maybe she can at least talk through it with her.

"It's kind of more of a question of faith, I guess. When you're a paladin, which matters more. What you are or who you are?"

"It depends on the god, if they have one, unfortunately." Settling back into the chair, she pulls up one leg, tucking her toes under the opposite thigh to get more comfortable and still give Bernie prime head petting space. It's serendipitous that this is a topic Alice actually knows something about.

"Obviously human gods have human paladins, same with Elven and Dwarven and Gnomish, etc. Biracial paladins choose the god they favor from either side. They're sort of these wonderful champions of good." Even if not all the information is accurate -- because Alice is not a paladin and doesn't know the inner workings of religion outside of her own -- it's easy to see that Alice thinks paladins are great.

Paladins are like Hufflepuffs: what people should strive to be but only a select few attain. Alice wants to be a Hufflepuff. (Alice is a Hufflepuff, but doesn't have the self-confidence to run with it.)

"I, personally, think it's who you are. Paladins are meant to be good. Good and just and true and lawful and devoted to maintaining order in the world. If there's something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action, regardless of what they are." Her shoulders lift in a somewhat apologetic shrug. "But I'm not a god, so I don't make their rules."
