[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [ a few days after she returns, winter bends down to perfect her make up in the door handle before straightening up and smoothing down her buttery yellow lace dress. she knocks softly before gently pressing the door open and pokes her head inside, easy smile ready on her lips, long dark hair spilling over her shoulders. ]

Lis'sa?

[lissatrinall]

[ the usual brusque: ] Come in. [ she looks up to see winter and gestures to the seat across her desk ]

[hivern]

[ winter dips inside, slipping into the seat and placing a small, neatly wrapped box tied with an acid green bow on a blank space on lis'sa desk. ]

I thought I should come see you since I'm back to stay for... good. [ and it's polite to bring a hostess gift. ]

[lissatrinall]

And what's this? [ lmao she is not used to gifts ]

[hivern]

I thought it might be useful in the field. [ nestled in the box is an antique gold compass and sundial from the 1930's that could fit comfortably nestled in the palm of lis'sa hand. the opposite side has a typical watch face but since that's not very special, she presented it with that facing downward. ]

[ she actually looks kind of impressed tbh ] ... Well, it's certainly been a long time since I've seen one of these.

[hivern]

[ she bites back a smile, fingers lifting to brush against her tymora charm. ]

Pare and I went through Avi's things before I left. I wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it.

[lissatrinall]

I'll put it to good use. [ that seems almost like a thank you??? ]

[hivern]

I do not doubt it. [ her accents lilt makes the comment sound amused, but really, it's not as if lis'sa would put it to bad use. life for realsies. ] I wanted to tell you that I am... ready to go, whenever you have need of me.

[lissatrinall]

[ she casts her a sly look, as she returns the compass to the box ] Is that something you felt needed stating?

[hivern]

I thought it might. In case there was any ambiguity. [ lips press together to conceal an impish smile, inviting even as it's hastily being smothered. ] Anything you need. I doubt it will take much time to reacquaint myself with the castle, it would be much preferable to acquaint myself with... other things. Don't you agree?

[lissatrinall]

[ lis'sa leaves one hand sitting on top of the closed lid, eyes casting once around the office before settling on hers again, her tone still very neutral and cool. ] I already have an assistant for most of the menial labor for which I find myself pressed for time. [ lmao poor phineas ] Unless you were referring to assisting with experiments.

[hivern]

Maybe something -- [ she hums thoughtfully, like she's looking for the right word, catching her bottom lip between her teeth before letting her mouth slowly curve up into a smile. ] -- hands on.

[lissatrinall]

[ one eyebrow twitches upward just the tiniest bit with that, and her gaze flicks over winter for a moment in an appraising once over before settling on her features, not budging from her spot. ] That's a rather bold request.

[hivern]

Fortune favors the bold.

[lissatrinall]

Maybe so. However, you do work for me. [ she turns to half-sit against the desk ] That would place me in an ethically untenable position.

[hivern]

Only if I were rewarded in some way, which I do not expect and would not accept, nor would I ever expect you to offer. I was knighted on my own merit, merit I intend to continue being judged for alone. You are not a Dragon's Claw, though I personally think you would be a great one -- and that is not flirtation, that is fact. You are pragmatic to the core, Lis'sa, one of your finally qualities, but it is also why I do not particularly see Wynn policing your sexual conquests. But if you'd like -- [ her sincere expression turns to a cheeky grin. ] -- I would transfer to Freelance. But that would make this a Thing.

[lissatrinall]

[ her response to that is the slightest roll of her eyes, turning her gaze to the door. ] I'm not looking for a Thing. Any arrangement would be precisely that: arranged.

[ her tone is as cool as ever, in spite of the subject at hand. ] I presume that doesn't deter you.

[hivern]

[ winter likes spontaneity! and freedom! but she also doesn't seem to mind a bit because she's pretty sure she's winning. ] Not even a little bit.

[lissatrinall]

I see. [ he pushes off the desk and moves to the door, heels clipping on the floor. ] Well, in my office, during open hours is hardly the time for such things. [ her tone doesn't seem to invite argument about it, either. ] You'll come to my quarters, tonight, and avoid drawing attention to yourself in doing so. I make no promises about what may or may not occur, and should I ask you to leave, you'll do precisely that.

[ she opens the door, holding it for her. ] Understood?

[hivern]

[ hopping up from the chair, winter follows her to the door easily, not seeming intent on lingering. oh, lis'sa, you're adorable. she doesn't say that aloud because she's only that patronizing with dante tbh. ]

Yes ma'am. [ she follows up by cheerfully bouncing out of the office. later gator! ]

[ winter happened.

ANYWHO later that evening, winter heads down to lis'sa's room, keeping her eye out for anyone who may or may not notice her slipping into the sect leader's room. (spot 17) she's not overly sneaky, because that looks shady, nor does she knock, just slips inside. she's wearing a white henley and blue pj pants that say ravenclaw up one leg. so sexy. the sexiest. mistress of seduction, amirite? ]

Bon vespre.

[ the look she merits from lis'sa when she enters is not particularly approving, and she puts down a book that she was reading on a side table, where a number of other books and papers are stacked. beyond that, the room is much neater than her office usually is, but that may be because it doesn't seem like a place she spends a great deal of time. it's decorated in dark wood, various portraits on the wall that look quite dated, a full bookcase, and a side table where a number of experiments seem to be running. her laptop is closed, and she hasn't changed out of the same clothes she was wearing earlier in the day. the only light comes from a bright lamp right beside the bed, but it fills the room with enough of a glow to illuminate it all. ] Close the door.

[ winter turns to close it firmly behind her, and lock it, before turning to face lis'sa again, eyebrows lifting expectantly. ]
