[ He's a little sick of the castle. He's going to pick up keys. But, he might also troll whomever is at the desk today. Sorry, Lydia. He saunters up, taking in the scene before him. ] Wouldn't it be a tragedy if you knocked that bottle of nail polish and ruined all your books? [ And her phone? ] Does anybody here take desk duty seriously? [ Not that he will, let's be honest. But, it doesn't mean he doesn't get to be a hypocrite, Lydia. ] I need a car.

If I didn't think I could multitask effectively, I wouldn't be— [ She snaps the words out before she even really looks up at him, and stops for a beat, eyebrows raising when she does. O-Oh. After a once-over, she swallows, and sets the bottle of nail polish into the top drawer while she pulls a set of keys out of it. ] You need to sign a log. Where are you going? [ She digs a clip board out from under the stacks of books and puts it up on the top ledge of the desk. ]

[ He doesn't need to make a wisdom check to know he's attractive and she knows it. ] Mmm, London. [ Because where else at this point, can he really go. (He also needs to feed. You're pretty. But, you're a knight and Damon doesn't need to deal with any of that.) He gives his 1000 watt Damon smile, reserved for pretty girls, charisma 19, girl ] Sometimes, the castle seems Tom Thumb tiny, doesn't it? [ he considers something ] How long do these desk shifts last?

[ Lydia returns the flirtatious look in kind, batting her eyelashes and leaning forward to offer up a pen for him to sign the car out with. ]

I've got two more hours. Why, are you thinking of waiting for me? [ Charm 25 goddamn. ]

[ Will save 25, jfc, but he can fake it before he makes it - something about her might be young, but hey, Damon doesn't hate them young. ]

Well. I'm new to London. Newly squired. And I've been told I'm in another universe. Big chance I won't know where I'm going. You look like a good navigator. [ and then his charisma check is a crit fail, maybe that was the wrong line to use??? ]

[ Yeah, incompetence isn't the way to impress Lydia Martin. He's not playing hard-to-get. There's the crit fail secret. She twirls the fingers with dry nails in her curls, sitting back in her seat and eyeing him with some critical consideration. ]

You're gonna have to sign for the car either way. [ This time, the prompt is less sweet. See again about Lydia & perceived competence. ]

I plan to. [ There's nothing perceived about Damon's anything - including competence. ] Damon Salvatore. [ Trying again at this charisma thing because he wrote the book on it god damnit, (20 of the non-nat variety) ]

[ Will save of 16 has her smiling just slightly at the offered name. He's ~mysterious and Italian~ ok. ]

I don't remember asking. [ Though, checking the name on the log anyway to find out. She reaches out to take the clipboard and pen back from him. ]

[ A shrug. ] Do we get a choice in car or do you hand us keys and we hit the button to see which one makes noise?

Well, you can put in a request, but I'm not obligated to honor it. [ She checks the tag on the keys she drew out, then scribbles the number in beside his name on the clipboard for record-keeping. ]

[ He makes a note of what she does. He'll need to do desk duty at some point. Not that he wants to. (It's Damon, he doesn't report to desk duty.)] So, how long have you been squired? [ Going away from 'how old are you' because he doesn't care ]

[ She puts the clipboard away, then hands him back the keys. ]

Those go to the blue Camaro. [ She rests her elbow on the desk, drumming her fingers against her chin as she looks up at him. ] I adapt quickly. You're newer than that though, right? Do you know who you'll be squired to yet?

[ He takes the keys. ]

Sir Dumage. Dragon's Something. [ He ... doesn't pay close attention to knighthood and titles. ] Newly squired. I was around last month in a strictly - I was found and missed the squiring ceremony - capacity. [ And here he is. Full knight. ]

I don't know her. [ Which obviously means she's not important. ~Obviously.~ ] The next ceremony's in a few days. They'll probably make it official then.

[ Obviously. ] Then I'll be a real boy. [ A smirk. ] It's a wonder they let let the unsquired go off alone.

I got the impression that right now, they don't want anyone going off alone. Doppelganger issues. There's no telling if you got beaten up by our defective psychopath of an ex-knight in an alley and replaced.

[ She ... might not have any idea that Damon knows Elena. ]

Besides, the last people who got replaced without anyone noticing? I heard they got tortured—one Knight's still on the Andres Isle going through it. Taking someone with you is as much for your safety as it is everyone else's.

Elena Gilbert's a lot of things, defective psychopath not being one of them. [ But, he doesn't snap. It's more about the conversation he's making. But, that next part - that should be his in. ]

[ Her smile turns coy. ] Depends. Where is it you're hoping to go? If I'm gonna tag along to play navigator, I'll need some incentive.

I was dropped into an alternate universe. I have an entire wardrobe to replace. [ An expensive one. Not to mention - a nicer restaurant and a stop off for some unsuspecting victim in an alley. Maybe. Maybe not. ]

And then, two hours later, he rolls back up to the desk, confidence about yea-high. ]

[ Lydia is switching shifts with some other miserable squire. She has packed away the books and nail polish into her room and cleaned up the desk, mostly, but she's waiting at it without looking like she's waiting at it by keeping up conversation with whoever's at the desk. ]

Oh, you're back. [ bluff 30 to act like she wasn't actively waiting on him. ] What's your name again? David? Darien?

[ sense motive 12, it's been two hours, but Damon doesn't waiver. ] I'll tell you mine. [ Dot dot dot. Tell him yours, Lydia. It's only fair. ]

[ Miserable because he sucks at sitting still, mostly, but there are obviously pros to checking people in. Like getting their names and not giving yours out. Adi glances at Damon when he walks up, expression curious. ]

Friend of yours, Jessica?

[ Bluff nat 20 where are you when he's getting shot at. Meaning he knows basically nothing about Lydia, but he does know that her name is definitely not Jessica. ]

[ A steady smile mounts as Adi fills in the gap. She turns to him with an appraising look, impressed with his quick acting, and then looks up at Damon like you heard him. ]

He borrowed a car earlier. I think he's new.
