Perched at the edge of any civilized lands, the small lumber town of Falcon's Hollow has always had to rely on itself to solve its  problems.  Now the hacking coughs of the sick are heard throughout the town.  The plague has come to the Hollow, and the town is ill equipped to stop it on its own, particularly given its resistance to magic.

That's where the Knights come in, sent to assist a local herbalist in putting together enough supplies to mass produce a cure.

[Nels can't help but laugh out loud at the absurdity of the animated cauldron, he instinctively places his hands on his blades... but then he goes for his gun instead... but he's going to hesitate because of all the people in the melee. He's not that great with a gun.]

How do we kill a cauldron, exactly?

I... I don't know!

[Which she finds, honestly, a lot more worrisome than anything else. She hates not knowing anything. Perhaps that's why, when she draws her mace, her attack is so ineffective (atk 6).]

[ miles fist clangs into the side of the cauldron, and it attempts to 'bite' at him (atk 17), which i think juuust misses.

wolverine's claws rake against it again (atk 23/annnd a nat 20; 24+36), slicing the thing literally in half. the pieces go spinning to the ground and it comes to a final stop.

If the mummy wakes up next, I quit. What were we supposed to get from the witch's house, again? [ she forgot, okay, she's wounded. ]

[Nels puts the awkward gun away, only mostly impressed by Logan's display.]

Some sort of pickled root, is what we're looking for... [He mutters to Abigail, as he paws through the huts contents.]

[ with that in mind, she joins in on his searching, will less skill. (search 16) ]

[ due to the volume and disorganization of the hut, it takes them about ten minutes of searching, but finally nels comes up with the rat's tail. he also turns up some gems and statuettes. abigail finds a grotesque, amulet-like shrunken head, about six inches in diameter. ] You gonna hang that from your rear view mirror?

[ omg it's the little fucker from the prisoner of azkaban movie! it's hideous. :D ]

I'm gonna put it on Stiles' pillow with a mint.

[ it appears to be a soulspeaker, which can repeat a message once/day, like a magic mouth spell. ] All we need are these mushrooms from the dwarven temple now. Should be easy.

Too late. [ she tucks the soulspeaker into her pocket with the ring and her phone, before she marches back out into the snow. but really, they're on a mission with abigail.

What, you're afraid of the ghosts of some dwarves rising up to rattle some bones? [ they head back outside again, and wolverine got a nat 20 to head them in the direction of the dwarven ruins so that's a thing. he'll lead the way, and as the trees get thicker, they're going to have to walk single file at one point, so for no reason whatsoever i need to figure out what marching order is. ]

No, but I do have a tendency to attract near death experiences that leave a lot of casualties in their wake.

[ and she's still kicking. ftr. but she sticks behind logan because he's got that auto-heal thing and she's about the size of his bicep so he's easy to hide behind. ]

[Grimrot goes after Abigail, frowning at her back as they walk.] People can't simply attract near death experiences. It would have to simply be bad luck, poor choices, or some sort of combination.

[ dryly: ] Yes. It was my poor choice that my dad tried to murder me. And that while I was comatose from his efforts another serial killer tried to make me a planter for his mushrooms. And also that a serial killer kept me captive in his basement for three months after leaving enough blood evidence to convince the rest of the world that I was dead.

[ i'm gonna assume from all this that miles is in the back, so he gets to make a perception check ] What kind of world did you come from, exactly?

It was like this one. Minus the magic. [ she doesn't say normal because she's surrounded by people who aren't, but that's pm what she means. ]

[ a giant mosquito is hovering in the air right behind miles, looking for an appetizing place to attach itself to him :') ]

Sounds like she's lucky to have gotten out of there, at least.

[ his hand connects, and sends the thing buzzing away angrily into the trees. logan looks back at the outburst, raising a woolly eyebrow. ] Now what?

Giant ass mosquitos.

[His nose scrunches briefly.]

Apparently it thought I'd make a good dinner.

Just keep an eye out. Frickin' Jurassic Park out here. [ they keep pushing on without being further molested by mosquitoes, at least. sitting squat at the foot of an imposing mountain, a ruined monastery comes into view between ancient gnarled trees. made of simple stone blocks, worn smooth with the passage of time, the stout building is falling apart. sections of the slanted shale roof have crumbled. weeds and wild thorn plants run rampant across the field leading up to the place, leaving only the slightest indication of a path that ends at the ruined front doors. beyond, an overgrown yard sits in shadow.

the old path that leads up to the ruins stops about 50 feet from the monastery, passing between a pair of stone statues. while one of them is little more than rubble, the other is relatively intact. the five-foot-tall statue is incredibly worn, but it can still be made out as a dwarf holding aloft a great stone hammer. moss and creeper vines cover most of its surface. a few lone razorcrows sit atop the tower and caw down at them as they approach. ]
