The Knights arrive in Aursaburg to help the villagers with a problem they've been having with a local witch. The little village seems fairly quiet, but the team would be able to hear some rather heated words spoken a bit down the road from them. It escalates to shouting in a hurry, with the most noticeable word of the bunch being 'witch.' Faye glances at the others, realizing that oh shit- I'm in charge. Squaring her shoulders, she gestures for the group to follow her down the road.

"Sounds like our cue." Whatever is going on in this town seems to be happening thatta way.

[Almost as if in a startled response to the ghost ripping free of Faye. With an audible yelp, Kenzi fires off a shot (Wis 18: at the ghost, not Faye folks) Atk ...

And after all of that she Crit Failed so. Atk Crit Fail. Dmg 4 :/ ]

[That shot actually hit Faye bc of the crit fail. Just jumping in so you guys can react if you want to as we keep going through init. Back to Taradiddle!]

We'd stop trying to burn you if you'd stop trying to kill us! [But she's not done yet. Cure light wounds for six hit points, will save 14 to half.]

[Cora intends to release Faye as soon as the spirit leaves her but then Kenzi shoots her before she can let go. Sorry, Faye. But Cora is all appropriate concern when she pulls back and lets her go, letting the magic people handle the ghost that she can't fight.]

Yeah, I'm-- [Faye is cut off by a horrible screeching sound as the ghost is destroyed by Taradiddle's spell.]

--better now. [Faye finishes, glad to see that problem over and done with. Which ends init!]

Everyone just.. lets search this place to make sure there's nothing that might help us find Autumn and then get the hell out of here.

[She goes back to being person shaped again, and she will set about doing just that (search 21, survival 19 for tracking by scent), wading further into the boat to try and see if there are any signs of Autumn/where she might have gone.]

Kenzi whispering an exaggerated;] Sorry? Really... really sorry.

[Seriously though, this is what you get when you have Kenzi on your team.] I'm just gonna... put this... away. [Holstering her gun.] And be over... here...

[Away from Faye as she, starts looking around the wreck. (Search 21)]

It's fine. [Faye insists while she does some searching of her own. Kenzi and Cora with their matching search checks both find the same loose floorboard at the same time. Removing it uncovers.... treasure! Inside the little hiding spot is a stash which includes 2 bottled potions- one of a blue, bubbly liquid and one of a red, thick liquid. There's also a wind fan, a large emerald, a black pearl, a leather pouch full of 640 gold pieces, and a folded up piece of paper which has a crudely drawn map of the swamp and surrounding areas. There's a structure indicated on the map with the words "the hovel" scrawled nearby.]

Find anything? [Faye calls out to them from the other side of the ship.]

[Cora picks up the potions to try and sort out what they are by scent, but she probably doesn't get much (wisdom 9). She also skips the cash and trinkets to study the map instead and she leans back to look for Faye.]

Apparently there's a "hovel" near here. Maybe it's where they took Autumn?

[Wow why would you skip the cash and trinkets. Taradiddle will grab those for you (sleight of hand 13) while she goes over to try and get a read on those potions. (will craft alchemy help at all? if so 12 if not spellcraft?? 10). idk she probably does not know.]

An aside to Faye.] We... can keep this right?

What, you think Wynn got so rich from legitimate business decisions? Course we can keep it. [And obviously she was going to share the treasure with the rest of them.]

Yeah, sure, whatever. [Faye is more interested in the map that Cora's got. The others can fuss with the jewels and money all they want.]

It's worth checking out at least. [The hovel, she means.] Think you can figure out how to get us there with that thing?

[She's not the best at reading maps tbh]

[She glances down at the map for a moment before glancing up at the world around them, trying to orient herself (navigate 6 action point says 17).]

I think so.

[And she will start to lead, which probably involves going back to shore and picking up her jacket and kitty friend?]

[Yep! They can double back for jackets and cats and anything else.

Cora is able to lead them through the swamp lands. There's a bridge on the map noted as the Drowned Bridge, but it's safe enough to travel on. Eventually, after about an hour's walk, they're quite close to the map's destination.

A dingy, colorless peasant hovel rises out of the clearing ahead like a tumor out of the gray mud. Its thatched roof is overhung in olive-colored swamp slime and lichen, and its walls are covered in ugly gray-brown mold and toadstools. The place reeks of humus.]

Everything here is disgusting. [Faye comments. She's so helpful.]

[Cora smirks slightly at Faye's commentary because yeah - it is pretty disgusting. But the faster they find Autumn the faster they can get out of here. She keeps the cat close, wrapped up in her jacket, before taking a deep breath and trying to see if she can catch Autumn's scent that she picked up from the house (survival 26).

But she will make a face at all the disgusting as she does it because gross.]

I'm going to have to hold a funeral service and cremation for my boots when we get home. [Kenzi... ya know. Equally helpful as she walks with her pockets stuffed with her share of the loot.]

[There's not much in the way of any scent that Cora can pick up, beyond the overwhelming stench of moldy wood. Faye stands around for a few seconds before letting out a huff and heading for the front door, because whatever may be here, it's probably inside.

Just looking for a quick idea of who might be following her.]

[Cora will! Because she is the tank and she's not going to let Faye go in alone.]

[Kenzi doesn't want to get left behind and potentially become a croc toothpick so she too will be following.]

[Onward then! Faye makes it to the door and opens it. Against her better judgment, she steps inside.

Shafts of pale light poke through the gaps in the mossy roof and walls, dimly illuminating this decrepit cabin with a lifeless white glow. Dust and a few dry leaves cover the warped, creaking floor. The walls are covered in fungal growths that make it difficult to breath.]

Seriously. Why is everything in this town so gross?

Cora makes a face as she continues to step further inside, trying to see if there's anything worth staying in here longer than they have to (spot 26, listen 17).]

So it can match the aesthetic?

[Cora finds a handle on the floor. The wood seems cut in a way that it's like a door that would open up to some sort of cellar.]

[Yep, let's pursue this horror movie trope further by going down into a creepy cellar. Cora crouches down to study the handle and the cut out for a moment before moving to lift it slowly, just in case she can hear something jumping out to kill them (strength 20 total, listen 26).]
