[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [You can only dodge the emails, texts, and other messages you've been getting for so long. Eventually, Ben Wyatt, accountant to the knights, will track you down and drag you to his office, the one with his name over a taped-up sign that has the words Dragon's Headache scrawled on it. He has seen the bills coming from your company card. He has the receipts you've turned in. And now he puts both of them in front of you, looks you dead in the eye, and raises his eyebrows.]

I've noticed some discrepancies.

Have you just been buying clothes with the company credit card since you got it? You know you get a paycheck, right? For things like your daily wardrobe and any non-knight related expenses?

[ooc: I'm going to assume that Poe's X-Wing is under some kind of tent outside since he can't really move it]

Poe decided to spend some of his afternoons out in the tent his X-Wing was stored under. He was trying to repair the ship, but since he didn't have any actual X-Wing parts, he was using parts that were acquired by the Hoard for him. It was slow going - he would take a damaged piece to them, they would do their magic in trying to find or make a replacement, and then he would work to put it back in and test it.

Needless to say, some parts worked better than others.

Depending on the weather and what part he was working on would depend on how much of the ship was covered by the tent. If he was working hard, he may end up forgetting to eat and someone may want to make sure he wasn't skipping too many meals. He may also take a nap in the cockpit or under the wing while BB-8 runs diagnostic checks. And he will always be happy for help, or company. Or a distraction.

[ The unfortunate can stumble across the kitchen in the morning, where Rey is experimenting with food. For most people, that means stacking weird things on sandwiches, but for Rey, that means baking eggs in weird ways and mixing them with things that you simply wouldn't expect; everywhere from sardines to figs. She's pretty determined in her work, and at the very least, she's eating whatever horrible creations come out of this.

In fact, she seems to lack the discerning palate to really know what's terrible and what's not. ]

[dante was just gonna make some mac and cheese ... maybe a mac and cheese pizza, that's what he's into ... but then rey is here, working on her next culinary disaster. he's trying to to be judgy, maybe it's a shadowkind thing!! like ... maybe. he'll try to be polite.]

[ But she did figure out that the fresh stuff tastes better than the pre-packaged, all sorted and pre-made to go together food. So she just needs to ... learn how to actually pair food herself. Right now, she has slabs of sandwich meat rolled inside a tortilla stuffed with garbanzo beans and soy sauce. ]

[ All things considered, Emma has denied herself the privilege of leaving the lake. Entirely. What food she does need can be brought out there by castle-runners, and before long, she has a routine set up. She won't take another chance like what happened to Hook. It's not safe, for anyone.

But that's the only good decision she's making.

While she's out here, she's doing her best to practice and grow familiar with the spellwork afforded to her by her new kelpie status. The more she understands about it, she hopes, the better she'll be able to temper the cravings and flashes of anger that come with it. She needs to be able to control herself if she's ever to make it on a mission again, and with what Gold said, she has to believe that the day will come sooner than she thinks.

The telepathy keeps her distracted, reaching to see how far it can go, what her range is. So she's distracted when anyone approaches. ]

[David is not meaning to cross Emma's path - he'd been giving her a wide berth after she made it clear she didn't want his help - but that doesn't means his thoughts won't be picked up by her practice with her telepathy.

Not that David's mind is all that interesting though. Unless you count Viking sea shanties and fight songs over and over in his head as he runs interesting.

Look, he lived with them for over a decade, you pick up things. They're also fairly dirty, in that old fashioned way, sorry Emma.]

[ There's something abjectly painful about the people she, as she considers it, used to know.

Brushing against the corner's of David's mind is like catching a cut nailbed while filing papers. It's sharp, sudden, and the burn lingers, making her want to rub at the injury to soften the sting. But it won't abate, and with a whimsical sense of nostalgia, perhaps some sense of masochism, she lingers too, letting the things that are all distinctly David come onto her.

It's only the surface, but the impression is strong. Like a scent that lingers in a space and reminds you of the memories there, when the only scent she's been familiar with lately is brine. Only when it takes a racy turn does she close the partition with a sudden, mental slam that hurts her with the loneliness that swells in the remaining space. There are some things you don't need to know about your coworkers. ]

[ it's before greece, luckily, but hawke still needs a drink. she nearly always needs something to distract herself with. a drink, her dog's antics, exploring the castle. though the former option usually comes with the whole missing her friends part. all the same, she does it in part in memory of varric. she could really go for a trip to the hanged man and a drink with him.

so here she is, walking into one of the bars around, for once with her dog at her heels. he'd refused to be left today, so she'd resigned herself to one drink. unfortunately, sebastian decides to head straight for someone else, someone with bright red hair to rival aveline's and make hawke miss her, too. she sighs wearily as her dog sniffs the other woman. ]

Sebastian, leave the poor woman alone. She's not Aveline. [ pause. ] Not that you would know who Aveline is. We're here for a drink. Not social hour.

I've often felt there's too few animals in this place to truly call it a castle, actually.

[ In Tortall, anywhere that didn't smell of horse had certainly seen a cat's paws covering it. While servants and saboteurs could be kept out of certain rooms, Faithful and the rest of the animals were of a different breed. She decided not to share that she was, in truth, more of a cat person. ]

[ sebastian seems to enjoy the attention, standing proudly for it. ]

I suppose your home doesn't see fit to scare off everything that isn't a rat. [ ironically enough. ] I'll also assume your home isn't trying to kill itself every day.

[what's will graham been up to, you may ask? just the same shit as always. you can catch him at the pond fishing on the pier, or around the castle grounds trying to wrangle his twenty million dogs. (just kidding there are only like. five. but same thing basically.)

lately he's even been hanging out in the garage, working on repairing what may or may not be a boat motor. (it's totally a boat motor.)]

The spray of salt water stings at her injuries, waves created by the shock wave of the Death Star's beam licking at the shore. It's almost nice against the oppressive heat of the beach, warm breeze soothing as is swirls around her and Cassian, locked together. The light grows brighter, blinding, but she can't look away, watching her death approach as peace fills her.

All at once the light is gone, the silence is gone, the beach and heat and sand is gone, Cassian is gone.

Instead of feeling the Force surround her in Cassian's arms, Jyn finds herself chilled in a dreary grey mist. The bustle of noise is deafening in comparison to the silence of Scarif, but it's nothing compared to the long, shrill blare of a horn coming ever closer to her. As her eyes adjust, she realizes she's standing in the middle of a thoroughfare of some kind, but these sure as hell aren't speeders.

She swears, which is reasonable.

It's entirely reasonable. Rory's likely doing the same.

He hasn't seen the Veil open up before, other than the time he came through it. In fact, he isn't even working on official Knight business right now - he's simply trying to teach Poe how to drive, which really isn't as complicated as it sounds. Poe was already a pilot, and their ships are far more complicated modern day cars. They were taking their first turn on a slightly faster roadway than the back roads that lead to the castle, when all of the sudden, the Veil opens and a woman gets conveniently deposited in the middle of the road.

Lovely.

He can tell she's injured from here (spot 29), and he reaches up to hit the hazard lights on the car, so that people know to go around them. "Pull over," he says to Poe, before starting to roll down the window so he can talk to the woman as they approach.

Okay, hot women falling through the Veil in the road was not on the set of driver's test questions. He was good though because, like he told everyone who asked, he could pilot anything.

He does what Rory asks, making sure no one is in their way. "Should I get the first aid kit from the trunk?"

Deryn - Open (Backdated to Christmas Week)

[ The smell of fresh paint wafted from Deryn's room, every now and then he would just repaint his room a new color. For one who seemed to move around mostly at night and wore almost all black, he loved colors, his room was always painted bright colors even if forever dimly lit. His busted caboodle that survived the attack was sitting on top of his dresser, which had broken CD's superglued all over it. He had decorated with the broken possessions from his old room. Hilde had sent him an ipod loaded with new music not long after the attack but he couldn't let the past go completely. He had already lost his past once, he refused a second time.

He had his bedroom window open, with him sitting in the window, smoking a cigarette. It was a habit he had picked up in his time living in the castle from hanging around the bars in the city. the night air taking the paint and smoke smell away, the walls now mint green, with a light purple accent from tape left on the wall in designs, the purple had been the old color. It looked pretty nice. The floor was filled with presents he planned to hand out soon, but for now he was reading over a letter, with the cigarette balanced on a soda can near his leg. It was pretty late for most, but early for him.]

Mars - closed to Cisco

[ Mars had been Mia for a few weeks, but now that it was nearing the end of May he had finally returned. He made his way into the pub he had asked his squire to meet him in, his long hair was pulled back in a man bun, and he was dressed in a Chicago Bears jersey and jeans, a bandanna tiedo around his knee as he usually had it.

Being six foot four had its perks though, like now as he peered around the pub for Cisco.]
