Look, I'm not good at trusting people, they always fuck me over. You know more about me than most people, but that's because you know me. I don't distrust you, I just don't... know how, okay?

I didn't ask you to trust me at all. I understand, all right? I don't trust anyone as a general rule. You're the one who asked if you were misplacing your trust in me, then basically went "haha, surprise, I don't." Which, come on, you know that's rude. I'm not — you don't have to make any grand gestures or anything, just don't bullshit me. That's all I want.

That's not-- I didn't-- [ argh. she trails off in frustration as she pulls on to the right street and stops by a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant next to an equally tiny bookstore, which is how she found the restaurant in the first place. ] Sorry. This is it.

Looks promising. ... That's not sarcasm, to clarify. Hole in the wall places are usually the best. [tralala, getting out of the car.]

[ once she's out and has locked the car, she moves to head inside. but stops at the door. ] If I was any good at trusting people [ besides sylar. ] to even know that I do, you'd be really, really high up the list. [ with a curt nod, she pushes open the door to the tiny restuarant.

it's charming in an "oh shit did we just walk into nana's living room" kind of way. the small two person tables are lit with clusters of candles and a red domed light hanging over head. the tablecloths look like couch upholstery. it's hideous really. but it smells delicious and is relatively empty except for a pair of old men playing something like checkers and a waiter who looks to be lila's age. lila grabs them a table under a portrait of elvis. ]

Don't worry about it, all right? It's not a big deal. [yeah he's like "what even" at this restaurant interior but still willing to give it a chance. he takes his seat across from her.]

[bittersweeter]

[ the scrawny waiter ambles over and spits out a lightning fast stream of specials in a thick accent that would make kelly bailey cry. lila just tells him to shut up and orders two curries, two orders of lo mein, a pot of tea, a bowl of winter melon soup for herself and then she looks at alex expectantly. ] I suggest something with chicken.

[ambitionist]

[he orders kung pao chicken and lo mein for himself, because he's the kind of person who orders the same thing at every restaurant ever. w/e. once the waiter is gone, he pops this question:] Do you ever think about getting back into the life?

[bittersweeter]

Be a princess again and have an entire army of men willing to kill and die for me? Yeah, but I'm not willing to start from scratch. I was born to run a family, even if I sucked, I'm not some newbie off the street. And frankly, I have two people, maybe three, who'd be willing to stage a coup and take over an existing family with me, it'd never work and I'd wind up getting Faye and Sylar killed so right now it's not worth it. But yeah, I think about it all the time. [ it's why she always phrases the knights like its a family, but she still wants that. ]

[ambitionist]

Makes sense. [he just shrugs.] Why you'd want to, and why you wouldn't.

[bittersweeter]

I mean, one day. It'll happen. Take back what's mine and all that. Me and my unicorn boyfriend, my flamethrower best friend. [ she lifts her eyebrows a little as she unwraps the paper from her chopsticks and starts folding it into a paper star. she seems to be implying there's an opening for a guy with talented hands and maybe his whole family. BECAUSE FAMILY LOOKS OUT FOR FAMILY OK. that's the whole point. ]

[he picks up on it. (wis 13)] Hey, if you're recruiting ...

[bittersweeter]

Like I said, one day. [ stick with me, kid, you'll go places. ] Rome wasn't built in a day.

[ambitionist]

I can wait. I'm patient.

[bittersweeter]

Okay. [ and here is the tea! and her soup. chinese kelly bailey says the rest is on the way. ] Want some? [ she means the tea, indicated by the fact that's she's pouring herself a cup. ]

[ambitionist]

Sure. I love tea. [waiting for her to serve him tbh. she shouldn't have asked while holding the teapot or w/e if that's not what she intended.]

[bittersweeter]

Really? You don't strike me as a tea person. [ lila... sylar said the exact same thing to you. don't judge. she pours him a cup as well, because yeah, that is why she asked. ]

Well, I am. [he doesn't feel like explaining "lived in japan and had a british not-girlfriend" to her, ok.] One of my favorite things is mint chai.

[bittersweeter]

Spicy and sweet. [ she makes a considering face. it sounded interesting. ] How did you get into tea? [ not gonna let it go. ]

I'm Russian? I lived in Japan? Pick one. It's tea, not crystal meth.

Ah! Russian was the excuse I used too, Sylar didn't buy it.
