[ well francesca's trained to locate traps (and also in the ways of the ninja), so she notices abigail pretty quickly upon entering (spot 33). she also picks up on the way she's practically cowering, and that only makes her more curious concerned.

needless to say, she makes her way slowly toward said punching bag, smiling softly in greeting, and as a way to make sure abigail realizes she intends no harm. ] I don't believe we've met yet. I'm Francesca.

Abigail. [ she manages to push her mouth into a smile but it disappears quickly like she's not used to it or being sad is too hard to hide. swallowing, she reaches out to still the punching bag so it doesn't swing out and hit francesca. she's awful at first impressions, but she's trying. ]

I take it you haven't been around long? It usually doesn't take me longer than a month or two to meet any new knights. Unless, of course, I'm off on a mission.

I was squired June 1st. [ she'd gotten there earlier, but that's not important. resisting the urge to fiddle with her scarf -- which she knows looks strange with yoga pants and a tee shirt -- she tucks her hands into her pockets. ] I saw you at the party. Your dress was really nice.

[ francesca's very skilled at not openly drawing attention to her scarf (will 24), as if it's not unusual with her other attire. she assumes there's a reason, and that it's probably really private. she is curious why the girl is so skittish, though. ]

Thank you. [ she smiles softly in humble gratitude ] I'm sorry I missed you there, then.

May I ask the same question I'm sure you've already been asked a hundred times: what brought you to the Knights?

I left early to walk Lemon. [ will's dog is her bff. and then she just ran away with alex to watch 24 for three hours and/or whenever she fell asleep and he woke her up to bring her back to her room.

as for the question of the hour, her lips purse slightly as she thinks about how to answer. ] My parents were killed, I didn't have anywhere else to go. [ and she doesn't want to be like her dad. she needs to do good. or at the very least try. ]

[ she looks sincerely sympathetic ] That's... quite unfortunate. I'm very sorry for your loss, but grateful you found another place to possibly make your home.

[ she manages something that resembles a weak smile. she's still too conflicted about her dad to feel anything one way or another, but she misses her mom and she misses alana. and she misses will so it all evens out. ] It's okay. [ maybe her dead family, maybe the castle. who knows. ]

[ she rightly assume that none of this is okay, but she doesn't press the issue, given abigail is still a stranger and all. instead, she'll just keep the conversation moving along... ] And what sect are you looking forward to joining upon your full induction?

I don't know. I'm not sure I really fit into any of them. [ fred did not sell her on her marketable skills. ]

Well, what sort of hobbies or skills did you have in your life before? [ although she looks about twelve to francesca, so her hobbies and skills were probably going to high school and crushing on boys ]

[ er... therapy was basically a hobby, right? ]

I know a lot about anatomy. [ she shrugs a bit, reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ear as it falls out of place. ] And hunting. Animals. [ NOT PEOPLE. ]

[ lmao well, she would have never thought 'people' before but now she does. she just studies her curiously for a moment ] Do you know any magic? There are those that commune with animals, druids, shaman, even some hunters have such abilities.

I bet you're anything but. [ she gives her a small, encouraging smile ] Besides, most come to the Knights to learn how to be helpful and protect the world around them. You don't need to already have all the answers.

I guess. But it probably helps to have some idea, doesn't it? [ especially now that will is here and she's never ever leaving unless he does. /pines for lemon. ]

Who is your mentor? They should be able to assist in guiding you, to a certain extent.

Belle. Everyone is just so busy lately I didn't want her to bother her with a conversation I wouldn't be able to contribute to very much. [ not that she doesn't think she can go to belle, she just wants to be able to go to her with some semblance of an idea and go from there. floundering like a fish out of water seems like just a waste of everyone's time. ]

Oh, but Belle is so kind, and quite helpful to everyone, so I can only imagine she would take great pride in being able to help you choose a direction to begin your journey toward self-awareness.

She also has a vast assortment of research materials available to her in the library, and perhaps she could point you toward some useful ones for your own cause.

I know. [ it's a defense mechanism, like survival of the fittest. if she comes into it knowing something, she looks more useful. belle is her mentor, she needs to be useful to belle.

she was useful to hannibal and that kept her alive until she wasn't useful anymore. ]

[ how depressing, except that francesca would completely understand (drow society is ruthless, after all) ... that is, if she knew what abigail was concerned with. ] I know it can seem overwhelming, at first. How have you been spending your time since your arrival?

Desk duty. Practicing. Alex watches 24 with me sometimes, we're almost done with season two. And Will was teaching me how to fish. [ stuff. shrug. ]

Will enjoys fishing, huh? I don't believe I've met Alex. [ mentally adds his name to a list of newbies ] But Will is my squire. I'm glad to see he's making some friends.

[ her face falls slightly. :'( will. she brought him up, she should have known better. ] He's very nice, I don't think making friends will be as hard as he thinks.
