Three thousand years old? Yeah, Lola is gonna get some of the credit. You did good, too, sweetie. [ she pats him on the shoulder. there, there. ...there. ]

Thanks. [He holds the bow and glances down at the target before looking back over at Vi.] So you gonna tell me what's going on or are we going to pretend I'm actually good at this? [He shakes the bow and gives her a little smile like 'cmon talk to me gurl.' (diplomacy 25)]

My husband died. [ she shrugs. ]

I got married and then twenty six hours later he died. I googled it because I thought it might be a record, but it's not. Still beat Britney though. [ is he even old enough to know about her 55 hour marriage? vi doesn't care. ] He died and I'm sad, I'm sad all the time, and people keep asking me if I'm okay, but they don't really want to know. They want me to nod and smile through tears and say I'm okay and I'm really, really not. I'm the opposite of okay, very unokay. I laughed. At his funeral. I laughed. At my husband's funeral, that's how not okay I am.

And my best friends, they're in love, and I love them so it's great, I want them to get married and have a bunch of babies and grow old together. But they're my best friends and it's two in the morning and I can't go to them, because I go to them like every night and they need a break. They wouldn't tell me if they needed a break, but they do.

And so I'm here, shooting stuff and hanging out with you and it's kind of awesome. So thanks. For... existing.

[Stiles wonders if there's a right thing to say here. It's sort of like when he and Will randomly wandered into grief town. But unlike with Will, Stiles is super fucking comfortable with Vi and doesn't really find it weird at all to share things about his past.]

When I was a kid, my mom got sick. And it was one of those things where it all felt like it happened really fast. One minute, she's patching up my knee after I beef it outside and the next she's... [He just sort of trails off, looking off to one side.]

I get it. [He picks it back up.] You're not okay. You're not going to be okay. Not for awhile- maybe not ever. And you feel like you're not even you anymore, like you can't be. But you're still my goby fish. So I'm just gonna keep digging and digging and you can just burrow in with me, alright?

[ her face sort of dissolves into tears, but she's so used to it still -- one day she won't be used to randomly bursting into tears, but if the past year has taught her anything it's that it won't be any time soon -- that she just brushes them away and carries on like nbd. just leaking out of my face. ]

Your mom was really lucky to have you as a kid.

And that guy was really lucky to have you as a wife. [Whoops. He never learned his name. Doesn't matter. He says it quietly, sincerely.] C'mere. [No, you don't need to because he's setting down your bow on the floor and wrapping his arms around you, Vi.]

[ oh hugs. she sure needed a hug. /lines up her boys for hugs. she's just gonna let herself be hugged. it's a good hug. stiles gives good hug. ] You're a really good shrimp.

[This is a long hug. As in, he's not letting go until she asks him to. Or until it gets weird. Possibly a little after it gets weird.]

You want to get out of here or something? Late night London food run or we can dramatically shout along to informmercials in the rec room?
