[ The two groups responsible for evacuation of Shadowkind travel to the island via stealth boat, which puts their arrival a little behind everyone else's.  They run aground not far from both the woods, and the harbor.   Edain grins out at the sleepy island, dressed in full armor, hand on the hilt of his sword.  Anastacia frowns as she watches the woods, however, clearly more on edge about what they have to do. ]

From here, everything looks so peaceful...

These things tend alert people, don't they? Like an alarm spell. Best not to give away our position if we can help it.

[Thank goodness Andie texted Thoster right before war to remind him that phones are a thing. He's not texting Andie, though. He's not texting anyone. He's calling Alice instead.

Alice! [He manages a quick smile as she picks up before he gets down to business.] Are any of you good with alarms? Particularly ones on boats?

[Those are very specific alarms, I guess. At least he assumes so.]

Aye- we're all here at the docks. [And he'll give some descriptive landmarks. That are probably mostly boat related. And then he hangs up without saying goodbye because that's what you do in the television.

To he group he's with:]

Someone's coming to help.

[THE PHONE IMMEDIATELY RINGS AGAIN. He stares at it. And stares at it. And then picks it up.]

Hello?

[His brow furrows as if the words are another language.]

Sorry- you want me to do this? [But he's waving Hook over, all the same. Gesturing to the panel, he talks to Hook without pulling the phone away because he's not savvy like that.]

She wants you to pry that off.

Uh, all right... [Except not so much since Hook kind of taps it awkwardly (dex 6).] How?

Here. [With his free hand, Thoster grabs Hook's wrist and does it his damn self (idk if its a str or a dex roll tbh. it would be 17 either way tho).]

[ off comes the panel! meanwhile, max wanders away a few paces, a dark look crossing his face, his eyebrows knitting together as he shakes his head strangely. ]

[With the panel open, Thoster looks even more confused. What is electronics.]

We've got it off. What now? [He nods along.] Green wire, aye.

[Turning to the group.]

Any of you lads have a knife on you?

[cutting one wire with a hook while leaving the others intact?? Seems risky.]

[Having a bunch of pirates hack an electronic lock, this seems to be a very good idea. Not saying Brantley's savviness on electronics is higher than any of them]

[He takes out his swiss army knife and hands it to Thoster. He always carry a knife with him. In case he needs to stab someone in the back... or neck.]

[ Adi watches for a moment, but with nothing to contribute to the tech side of things he joins Max a few steps off and keeps an eye out (spot 16). He's too busy watching the docks to notice any subtle cues, but the odd headshake gets his attention. ]

[ max gets a nat 20 to shake off... what could be some horrible side effects, thanks to adi's interruption, and he looks over his shoulder, a disturbed look on his face. ] Something happened here. [ the cryptic words are... probably not helpful, so he adds: ] They were unloading slaves. Recently, I would guess.

They killed a man, right on this dock.

Much appreciated, lass. [Thoster says before hanging up again. And waiting a few seconds to make sure the phone doesn't ring immediately after. Okay we're good.]

[ Way to be creepy, bro. Adi looks appropriately unsure about this information, sparing Thoster a quick glance at the declaration that the alarm's been dealt with. While they hash out captains, he looks back to Max. ]

How do you figure that?

[ Should he know about what skills the other people on his team have?? Probably?? Oh well. ]

Aye. [Thoster heads up to climb aboard the ship to get it sorted. Have fun, pirate bros!]

Smooth sailing, mate. [And off Hook goes to find ship number 2! He's hoping for one just like Thoster's but a little bigger or faster. Just cause. (seach 17).]

[ the ship he finds is a little bigger, but it's hard to say if it'll be faster. meanwhile max is just wandering down the fucking dock in the opposite directions, his steps slow and hesitant, as he looks down in the water and between the boats. he still looks half not-here, and it's a little unnerving. ]

[Hook casts a sidelong look at Max but tbh he does not feel up with dealing with that mess so instead he points to the ship.] Bet this one's got one of those alarm things as well.

[But he'll head up to it anyway and search for them. Not super effectively. Hopefully someone else has better eyes (search 10).]

[Hook nods and calls the team on the boat again. They should have just brought Bambi along.... Bring bring mother fucker.

After Bambi picks up, there's a brief, startled pause (Knowledge (computer expressions) 6), then:]

...I'm glad you're prepared to shoot trouble, but I'm actually in need of aid of a different sort. How did you get the alarm off again?

[Pause.]

I'm not colorblind. [He latches his hook under the panel and pries, with more success this time (str 14? hopefully?).] Green, right?
