[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

Also, following the promotion and squiring parties at the beginning of the month, Wynn will be taking any willing Knights back to Andres Isle to further reconstruction efforts there.   There's plenty to be done - and an election to gear up for, to find out who will rule Andres Isle!

It's part of the reason I like where I am, right now. I can still go out there and save people, but when I'm back home it feels like I'm back at Stanford.

[He doesn't have to give up one for the other. And he doesn't have to do any of it on the road, hidden, without anything to show for it. He can still have friends.]

I mean, I'm sure whatever it is you do keeps you busy- [Partying or w/e ;)] -but you're obviously qualified in a couple of their departments.

[He's...90% joking.]

[ she rolls over him again, grinning down at him playfully. ] Oh?

I didn't realize the Knights had that kind of department. Maybe I'm missing out after all.

I wasn't kidding when I said they had all types.

[Rolls fucking high on his gossip check, I guess.]

Tieflings, vampires, werewolves. I think we even have a succubus. We have our heavy hitters, our nerds, our smooth talkers. Wynn like variety.

[astrayed]

At least he seems to recognize that a couple horns or a tail aren't cause to dismiss someone on sight.

Or stab them, for that matter.

Yeah, that's kind of the exact opposite of what he's going for, actually. He's all about Shadowkind equality and tolerance.

So no, stabbing someone on those grounds would get you kicked out before it'd get you praised.

[astrayed]

[ she trails a finger down his bottom lip, entertained. ] Maybe if he knew about this, he'd give you a medal.

[There's a bit of hesitation in his reaction, but he manages a smile and shakes his head.]

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't believe me even if I told him. Pretty sure he'd just send me to the castle shrink.

Most people aren't prepared to wrap their heads around the secrets of the universe, it's true.

That's not your fault.

People have a hard time believing in what they haven't seen.

[Magic and creatures galore or not, that hadn't changed from home.]

But it works out better that way, in the long run. There's a reason our influence is mostly invisible.

Considering I'm about as used to this kind of stuff as anyone can be and it's still a lot even for me?

Your typical person would probably never sleep again.

I guess the bright side for you to look at is even though those demons are always slamming against the walls of this world, those walls have held for more millenia than you could wrap your pretty little head around.

[familybusiness]

Thank goodness for small favors.

[He gives her a wry look.]

Doesn't mean they won't find the right crack tomorrow and blow the whole thing open.

[astrayed]

No, but that's why you should be glad to hear it's not just your side trying to beat them back all this time.

And no offense, but we're a little better equipped for it.

My side? I didn't realize I had even picked one. If we're all on Team Keep-the-Demons-in-Hell, wouldn't that make us all on the same side?

I meant your side of the wall, Sam.

Well, it sure looked like you had your hands full. But yeah, I'd say anyone is better equipped to deal with something when the other half can't even see them ninety-nine percent of the time.

That's typical Heaven for you, though. Equip just a handful of you to carry the burden of the ones that spill over, and leave you to it. No pressure.

Who do you think's doling out that superpowered vision in the first place?

I didn't think anyone was doling anything out. I figured it was, I don't know, genetics?

It doesn't actually run in families. It's a divine mandate thing, although Hell has the power to awaken the ability in select people too.
