[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [Felicity is in the labs. Naturally. She's totally not avoiding Oliver. Nope. Not at all. Their mission didn't entirely prove and bunk her whole theory about how they would benefit from a team environment. That their resources would help them achieve more. The went out on mission and then were promptly shown just how small of a piece of the puzzle they were and she's not really sure she wants the scowl of 'I told you so.' to reign down on her. Not now, at least.

When Skye asks her, she looks up and then looks around - as if it's one of those "Who me?" moments. When she realizes that it's to her, she smiles.]

Five - six months? I think? It's a bit ... November so, it'll be six months.

[hacker]

So you're still a squire, right?

[ Skye points to her, leaning over the lab counter. ]

How's it treating you? The 007 life.

[fistpump]

[Felicity shrugs.]

Decent? I mean, it doesn't really feel double-oh-seven when everyone around you is doing the same thing.

[hacker]

You don't have any friends or family outside the Knighthood?

[fistpump]

[Three years in this world and she's still pretty sure that the only person outside the Knights that knew her name was the Starbucks barista and all that told her was she drank too much coffee.]

Not exactly and it's not like I can tell them either. [Felicity has lived in two worlds now with an extremely 'story-worthy' lifestyle that she can't tell anyone about.]

[hacker]

So you're saying no one in the Knighthood is allowed to have anyone—friends, family—who they can be honest with outside of it?

[ that sounds, to Skye, truly horrific. ]

[fistpump]

[Felicity is used to it??? Plus, she doesn't have anyone she would want to tell. Thea is already involved and she's the one that dragged Oliver into it all. Which he might not be entirely pleased about after that mission...

ANYWAY!]

I mean, I don't really have friends to tell -- but even if I did, it's not casual dinner conversation and I'm pretty sure that Wynn trusts us not to divulge all the details of the operation to the guy that bags your groceries -- or your Aunt Flo.

[a beat.]

Not that -- that's actually my Aunt's name. It's not. I just... couldn't think of another name.

[hacker]

[ An unbridled giggle slips out of Skye and she has to raise a hand to cover her mouth. ]

I'm sorry. I'm sorry, it's not that funny, I swear— [ She waves her hands, shaking her head, then takes a deep breath to collect herself. By then, tears sting the corners of her eyes. ] Wow. Aunt Flo. I'm gonna take a leap and guess you are not with the Dragon's Tongue.

[fistpump]

Oh -- no, definitely not. [a beat] Oh and it's fine that you laughed. I mean, I just do this thing where I open my mouth and words fall out of it.

[hacker]

[ Her laughter continues, quietly now, and she nods. ] It's cool; you're good. But what sect are you a part of?

[fistpump]

Hoard! I'm Andrew's Squire -- I was IT. Well, I was a hacker that was doing IT to pay the bills [Because she's not that kind of hacker.]

...and then the whole Veil and Knights and so... Hoard. Dragon's Hoard.

[hacker]

No way! [ She grins. ] I was just talking to Andrew. The knights plucked me out of the Rising Tide, CS is like my first language.

[fistpump]

Hey! I've heard a little about them. [Knowledge Tech 14 - It's possible that they were on a long list of things to look more into, but going into the Knights sort of took their whole To-Do list off the fridge.]

Are you going to be doing that for the Knights too?

[hacker]

Still deciding, I guess. I'm not sure if this whole scene works for me. It's definitely a change.

[fistpump]

So this is ... your free fourteen-day trial period? [Felicity wasn't aware they could just "try it out" once they'd been let into the whole squiring thing.]

[hacker]

I guess. Around here, they call it "squiring." Which fits the theme. [ She shrugs, accepting it. ]

[fistpump]

Who are you squired to? [She can take a bit of time out of her avoiding Oliver to chat up a fellow fan of code.]

[hacker]

Uh, Sir Kali. She's with the Hide. Whatever that means.

[fistpump]

I haven't met her, but those assigned to Hide are generally the fighters. Sort of like how a Dragon's Hide can help protect the dragon from the elements. It's an interesting way to partition everyone out.

[hacker]

Do they usually squire across sect lines? I mean, there's no way they hired me on hoping to hand me a sword and shove me off to battle with the likes of Kali.

[fistpump]

I'm not sure? [She's still new...]

But, they probably look for someone that you would get along with -- someone that can be supportive, because you're going to need that guidance for making your choice about being a Knight.

I mean, do you really think that someone here is going to be able to teach you how to do what you're already good at? [Like, legit, this isn't home schooling by the Knights.]

[hacker]

Yeah, good luck finding someone better. [ She snorts her laughter, smug arrogance and nonchalance. She hesitates a beat, grows modest, and clears her throat. ] ... No offense. I get what you're saying. It's about an intro to the Knighthood, not to our specialties.

[fistpump]

[Yeah, Felicity won't be measuring hacker... whatever the phallic reference required would be here... flash drives?? Either way, she's not big on competing with other hackers. They're both here to do a job and hopefully they both can do that job.]

Exactly. We're already pretty good with our specialties -- otherwise, we wouldn't be asked here in the first place.

So who's your mentor? Are they any good?

[fistpump]

Andrew. [She replies as she glances back to her screen then back up to Skye.] He's -- capable? I think. We've gone over a few things, but it's sort of weird having a mentor in general. I'm not used to it. It feels a bit like high school when you're given a guidance counselor, but you don't want to talk to them about what's really going on... so you make stuff up so that it seems like you need them, but really you're just hoping they write you a good recommendation for college.
