[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. Still deciding, I guess. I'm not sure if this whole scene works for me. It's definitely a change.

So this is ... your free fourteen-day trial period? [Felicity wasn't aware they could just "try it out" once they'd been let into the whole squiring thing.]

[hacker]

I guess. Around here, they call it "squiring." Which fits the theme. [ She shrugs, accepting it. ]

[fistpump]

Who are you squired to? [She can take a bit of time out of her avoiding Oliver to chat up a fellow fan of code.]

[hacker]

Uh, Sir Kali. She's with the Hide. Whatever that means.

[fistpump]

I haven't met her, but those assigned to Hide are generally the fighters. Sort of like how a Dragon's Hide can help protect the dragon from the elements. It's an interesting way to partition everyone out.

[hacker]

Do they usually squire across sect lines? I mean, there's no way they hired me on hoping to hand me a sword and shove me off to battle with the likes of Kali.

[fistpump]

I'm not sure? [She's still new...]

But, they probably look for someone that you would get along with -- someone that can be supportive, because you're going to need that guidance for making your choice about being a Knight.

I mean, do you really think that someone here is going to be able to teach you how to do what you're already good at? [Like, legit, this isn't home schooling by the Knights.]

[hacker]

Yeah, good luck finding someone better. [ She snorts her laughter, smug arrogance and nonchalance. She hesitates a beat, grows modest, and clears her throat. ] ... No offense. I get what you're saying. It's about an intro to the Knighthood, not to our specialties.

[fistpump]

[Yeah, Felicity won't be measuring hacker... whatever the phallic reference required would be here... flash drives?? Either way, she's not big on competing with other hackers. They're both here to do a job and hopefully they both can do that job.]

Exactly. We're already pretty good with our specialties -- otherwise, we wouldn't be asked here in the first place.

[hacker]

So who's your mentor? Are they any good?

[fistpump]

Andrew. [She replies as she glances back to her screen then back up to Skye.] He's -- capable? I think. We've gone over a few things, but it's sort of weird having a mentor in general. I'm not used to it. It feels a bit like high school when you're given a guidance counselor, but you don't want to talk to them about what's really going on... so you make stuff up so that it seems like you need them, but really you're just hoping they write you a good recommendation for college.

[hacker]

Yeah. I, uh, dropped out of high school, actually. [ So that's not the easiest analogy for her to grasp. But she nods. ] I get what you're saying, though.

[fistpump]

I... ramble. Sorry.

[hacker]

No, it's cool. I dig it. [ She shrugs her shoulders, then nods to Felicity. ] So what do they usually have you hacking?

[fistpump]

[She shrugs.]

I've only been out on one mission and it was financial stuff. Kind of boring. [That was what she was sent for at least. The other stuff she found she doesn't even count as hacking. It had been left open for her.]

[hacker]

I think boring depends on what kind of financials. I mean, are we talking some guy embezzling from his boss, or someone trying to buy politicians, or what?

[fistpump]

[Felicity gives Skye a look. (sense motive 16) She's not sure why she's so keen on what sort of financial data she's been digging into, but it seems weird that she's so jazzed about it.]

Just standard where is the money coming from where is it going type financials.

[hacker]

[ Hacker curiosity, Felicity would realize. If they're going to be pulling the same weight, Skye's curious about the details of what that weight's like. ]

Yeah, that's ... what financial records are. Thanks. [ Flatly. ] Look, I'm not trying to horn in on what you're doing here. I'm just trying to get an idea of what we're going up against. I just watched a bunch of knights destroy a whole base of government agents. When I get sent out, I wanna feel prepared.

[fistpump]

[Felicity is JEALOUS that she got to actually see action.]

Well... I was in a small room, at a computer with security guy looming over me watching everything I was doing. The most action I got to see was when we were leaving and they shot at us.

[She sighs.] It wasn't entirely action-packed for me. Not that I minded, but I'm not sure I can give you a how to prepare for missions when this was my first one and all I did was download your basic financial records.

[hacker]

[ She looks amused as she notes, ] You say that like it's a bad thing. [ Not seeing any action, that is. ]
