[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [one day, sooner or later, alex happens to come in with the katana he bought himself for christmas slung in a sheath over his back at the same time as thea's dicking around the training room doing her thing.]

Oh, uh, hey.

Hey. [ it's short, but less bristly than it used to be. of course, she's been in here for a few hours so she's in a state of exhausted zen that might explain it. ] What's up?

[ambitionist]

Just coming to train, you know, whatever. [maybe he'll go to the firing range instead ... he doesn't want to hang out with thea and be bad at things she's good at again ... hmph. but no it'd be weird. so he won't.]

[withasouvenir]

[ her eyes flicker to the katana like maybe we can... but she doesn't offer because, look, swimming and running is still a work in progress. baby steps. stubborn baby steps. ]

Cool. [ she's going to leave it at that, except, ] Can I see it? [ she nods to the sword. ]

[ambitionist]

Uh, yeah, sure. [he unsheathes the katana and holds it out for thea to take and/or examine at her leisure.] I was getting a custom done for one of my friends as a present, and told the guy who made it to throw in "something cool" for me. Pretty cool, huh?

[ she's very enthralled by it, setting her own aside so she can take it and get a feel for it. it's so new and nice it makes hers look like a relic. (which is really just in her head.) ]

It's nice. [ she hands it back with an impressed smile, something like gratitude lingering in it. like she wants to say thanks for letting her look at it, but she's too much of a brat to say it. ] If you don't want to dull it practicing, I have a spare.

[ambitionist]

Yeah? That would be nice, thanks. [he puts the sword back in its sheath, feeling pretty pleased with himself.]

[ she shrugs, offhand and nonchalant, trying not to draw attention to being less bristly than usual. it takes a second of digging around in the bag to pull out her spare bokken. there's a chip in the handle, which is why she doesn't use it as much as the other two, but it's still usable. ]

You might want to tape that...

Giving me your busted ass hand-me-downs? Wow, Thea. Thoughtful. [even if he sounds sarcastic as fuck, he's smiling and for all intents and purposes seems to just be teasing her.]

[ blithely: ] I try. [ it's okay though because after some more digging around...

she pulls out tape for him, too. ]

[ambitionist]

[he takes the tape and works on mending it.] I'd ask if you wanna spar, but I don't think my ego would be able to handle it.

I'd go easy on you, but you wouldn't learn anything. [ which would be shitty and dangerous and she doesn't actually want him to get hurt because she coddled him. ]

[ambitionist]

I'm not that bad.

[withasouvenir]

No, you're not, but the same point stands.

[ambitionist]

[once he's done taping it, he strikes a training dummy with the bokken for a whole atk 15 ... it's not that bad, but you can tell he's relying on brute strength more than skill. and he holds it like a baseball bat.]

[withasouvenir]

[ her mouth opens to offer a correction, but she stops herself, moving off to her own dummy. she does her own series of fluid moves, the same one a couple of times until it flows into one motion, before she pauses. ] You're holding it wrong.

[ambitionist]

[matter-of-factly, like a twat] No, I'm not.

[withasouvenir]

You are, though.

[ambitionist]

If you're holding a weapon and it's dealing damage to something that isn't you, you're holding it right.

[ :| ] And if you hold if correctly you do more damage.

[he makes a vague attempt to imitate her and be less like a tool, and is met with ... success??? (atk 24)]

[ she has the grace to not look too smug tbh. ] Do you want a quick lesson?

Aren’t I supposed to be the one giving you lessons? [that was not a no, ftr.]

I'm sure you can find something to give me lessons in. [ like he's obviously competent, she's just more so when it comes to katanas specifically. ] Flying lessons?

I thought you never wanted to fly with me again.
