The Knights arrive in Aursaburg to help the villagers with a problem they've been having with a local witch. The little village seems fairly quiet, but the team would be able to hear some rather heated words spoken a bit down the road from them. It escalates to shouting in a hurry, with the most noticeable word of the bunch being 'witch.' Faye glances at the others, realizing that oh shit- I'm in charge. Squaring her shoulders, she gestures for the group to follow her down the road.

"Sounds like our cue." Whatever is going on in this town seems to be happening thatta way.

Sure, but do any of you know where to even find this thing? [She gestures to the drawing. The cat wanders back to Cora, looking a bit distraught that his witch is nowhere to be found.]

I'd think some sort of waterfront might be the best place to start.

Were there any docks nearby?

[She smooths a hand over the top of the cat's head, scooping him up again to try and calm him down.]

I can try and follow the scent. It's old, but it's not gone. Might get us to where she is.

That or just, follow the smell of fish. [A beat.] I swear I wasn't being dirty I mean like. Actual fish. Cause docks. And... so we're following you then?

[Its Kenzi. Sometimes she needs to clarify because most of the time, it is the perverted option.]

I was thinking we could just go ask the girl's mom about if this ship even exists, but if you want to play Toucan Sam, we can give that a try.

[Cora barely gets that reference (pop culture 9) in the sense that she remembers who Toucan Sam is (Fruit Loops are the best), but she doesn't know what that has to do with her following the scent so she just gives Faye a weird look for a second, before getting back to work (survival nat 20, 28 total).]

[Well, god damn, Cora. You track that scent, girl! Following the scent and tracks, they start to head towards swamp lands not that far from the old mine. There's no boat visible from the path they're on, but they are able to see a small shack on a yellow hillside sandwiched between tall trees that allow in little light. A white ribbon of smoke curls from the chimney. Sitting on the porch in a creaking, wooden rocking chair is an old man with pepper-colored hair and skin, like dry leather.]

Have you seen a boat? [Taradiddle calls up to the man as they approach.]

[The man glances up when he hears Taradiddle's question. Squinting at them, he glances up at the sky, where some storm clouds seem to be crowding in. Without a word, he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand before getting up out of his chair and heading inside. The door is shut rather firmly.

Faye raises her eyebrows.]

He seems friendly.

[Cora's eyebrows go up a bit at the man's response. She's antisocial and even she isn't that rude. Her eyes then follow his up to the sky as though she's trying to get a read on what he's seeing but she doesn't know shit about weather, so she probably doesn't get much (spot 13).]

She's definitely here somewhere.

[She at least knows that much. She glances down at her kitty friend again, because it can just be assumed that she's taking the cat wherever she goes.]

Think you can find your master?

[That's ... mostly to the cat.]

[The cat looks at Cora, those overly intelligent eyes unblinking. It sniffs the air before circling Cora's ankles and letting out a low meow, as if to say 'Nope.']

[Cora smirks a bit at that before shaking her head.]

Some help you are.

[She then glances around, trying to see what she can see (spot 23).]

Do you think we should take a closer look at that man's cabin?

[Shack. Whatever, he was being nice. Unlike the old guy. But it's not like they were rolling in options right now.]

[Cora sees some swampy wilderness and... the shack. In one of the windows, she spots the grumpy old man peering at them, but as soon as she catches his gaze, he quickly moves away.]

Lead the way, big boy. [It's called delegating responsibilities.]

[Sure. He was pretty enough to be the party face, I guess. Aedan starts toward the cabin, though he doesn't expect that the man will be any more friendly and forthcoming. He knocks on the door all the same, before casting a glance back at the others. If someone else wants to sneak around back or something while he has this guy's attention, now would probably be a good time.]

[Cora will absolutely take that opportunity, hanging back a bit, out of the man's range of vision (hide 19), before scooping up the cat and quietly starting to sneak around the side of the house (move silently 14 action point says 24).]

[He who carries the biggest weapon (not even a euphamism) is he who Kenzi hides behind in case shit gets real follows, so she falls into step behind Aedan.]

[Faye sort of waves for Taradiddle to go follow Cora because she should maybe not be alone, but uh Faye doesn't want to go stomp around in swamp land so she'll join Aedan and Kenzi on the porch. There's some grumbling from inside the house before the door is yanked open and the gruff older man looks at them.

"What do you want?"

Around back, no one seems to notice Cora. It's kind of a mess back here. No other houses, so she's free to explore around the back of the house or any of the surrounding swamp land that she chooses.]

[Taradiddle gives her a look that says eww why me but she goes. Reluctantly. And not all that quietly (move silently 12). What do you want from her, she's a cleric.]

[Cora definitely hears her coming (listen 27), and turns to give her a baleful look because really? You could at least try to be stealthy. But once that's done she'll direct those super ears to the rest of the area and see what she can find (spot 24, wisdom crit fail, search 18). Apparently all those swamp smells are really clogging up her super nose.]

[Aedan smiles toward the man, because let's be real, his smiles are like nat 20s and could (hopefully) win over even the most crotchety of men and women alike.]

I'm sorry to bother you, ser. My friends and I seem to have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Normally I wouldn't ask for help, but you seemed like you might be particularly knowledgable.

[Normally, Aedan's pretty good at flirting up just about anyone--here's hoping grandpa is receptive (charisma: 20 total). If not, there was always Kenzi and Faye.]

[Despite being a grouchy old dude, he's apparently not that willful because he bombed that save. Or maybe Aedan is his type. We just don't know. His eyes shift to glance behind him and he lets out a brief grunt before he opens the door a fraction more.

"Where are you trying to go?"

Around back, Cora would notice that some pretty nasty clouds are rolling in. It definitely looks like it's about to rain, which won't at all help her tracking efforts. The sky darkens quickly. Whatever is coming is going to be pretty nasty.]
