[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions: Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask! Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

[ Once news spread of Finnick's departure from the castle, Buffy refused to accept Myri's self-imposed isolation. In the days following, she forced her way into Myri's room in much the same way Myri had tried to force her way back into Finnick's mind. Seeing the brace around her wrist to support the healing done by the Dragon's Light, Buffy felt her expression crumple. She made her way over to her friend and, without a word, pulled her into a hug that was made only slightly awkward by navigating around the bump of Finnick's child in her abdomen. ]

I heard. [ She whispered in a quiet, apologetic voice, all mourning and understanding. ]

[She doesn't really want to be alone, but it feels like she should be or like its the only place that makes sense for her to be right now. As her door opens, she doesn't shout to be left alone or give Buffy a look as if she shouldn't have come. It's obvious that she's been crying, though she does her part to hold back the tears once there's someone else in the room.]

I just wanted to help him. [She says quietly, leaning into Buffy's embrace, trying to keep her voice as steady as possible.]

I know. That's all you've ever tried to do.

[ She smoothed one hand over Myri's hair, staying settled into the hug until Myri chooses to draw out of it. Something akin to blame hangs in her voice, not towards Myri, but towards Finnick. It's too reminiscent of when he'd gotten carried away with drinking, and Myri's empathy had led her to suffer from his self destruction. It seemed like one way or another, Finnick was destined to hurt Myri for trying to help him. ]

[Myri isn't going to move from this embrace any time soon. She can hear that tinge in Buffy's tone and knows what she's getting at (wis 24) but the idea of blaming Finnick for any of this is impossible for her right now.]

They said the baby's fine. Thank the Stargods for that. I should have left it alone- at least until after the birth. If anything had happened to my daughter, I...

Hey. You can't think like that. [ Buffy shook her head. ] We don't have what ifs. We just have what is. And you're here, and the baby's fine, and that's what's important. We still have you. [ Buffy still has her. It's selfish, but it is what it is. ]

I caused this. [She says, unable to stand for Buffy to speak about her being safe as anything important when she feels so guilty.] I thought I could get through to him, but I only made him panic, made him lash out. Buffy, I may never see my husband again. My daughter may never know him. And he will only think the two of us are a dream. All because I couldn't bear to be apart from him.

[Dealing with emotional situations is hard on a good day. Through some extra hormones on top and all logic leaves the equation.]

You can't blame yourself for that, Myri. You were trying to help him. If you want to blame someone for this, blame the Mind Master for doing it in the first place. [ She knows she won't get anywhere with pointing out that regardless of whether Finnick thought she was real or not, he didn't need to physically push her. Not at all. Disparaging him won't help Myri through this, even if a part of Buffy deeply wants to right now, so she instead focuses on the source of the problem (diplomacy 32). ] You needed your husband. There's nothing wrong with that.

[She seems to relax a bit, even if she's still wrapped up in guilt.]

I have no idea what to do now. I don't know if there's any hope for him to come back. I'm scared to hold on.

Myri ...

[ Tearing up, Buffy shakes her head, glancing away from her. She doesn't entirely pull back from the hug, but her arms loosen all the same. ]

You know I care about Finnick. But every time you try to hold onto him, you're the one who gets hurt.

[She can't deny that Buffy's right. She doesn't... want to admit that, though.]

I don't know how to just... [Give up. How on earth does she move on from the man she loves with all that she is?]

I don't think it happens right away. [ She's not exactly an authority on getting over people. Oops. ] Just ... a little at a time. You stop pouring yourself into the hope of holding onto him. And one day, you wake up, and it's okay that he's gone.

[The idea of it is terrifying, but Myri knows that Buffy is right. And maybe part of her is hopeful for that day to come sooner rather than later. The way this hurts is unbearable.]

One day. [She echoes, trying not to feel like it's impossibly far away.]

I hope you don't mind how much I know I'll rely on you until I can get there.

Of course I don't mind. [ Reaching out, she squeezes Myri's hand. ] I'm here for you, whatever you need, as long as you need.

I just know you have your own things to worry about. [Rafael shaped things.]

[ Well she rolled a 6 wisdom so she doesn't quite pick up that implication. But no matter because, ] Those things can wait. Being with you right now, supporting you, that's more important than anything else I might have going on.

[Myri manages a small smile. Buffy has been so good through all of this. It's strange to think over the course of their friendship, how some things change but others remain so very much the same.]

You've always taken care of me. I don't think I could ever thank you enough.

Hey, somebody has to look out for you while you're looking out for all of us. [ She tries to lighten the mood, but there's a genuine warmth in her eyes that's more honest than that. ]

[She does manage to look a bit less down trodden for a moment.]

I think I could use some air. Walk with me?

Of course.

[ She loops her arm through Myri's and walks alongside her. ]
