[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. No, nothing like that. Come on. Do I look like an auditor? [ She laughed it off, lounging comfortably. ] I'm new. I'm just hoping I can get somebody to tell me more about this place, how it runs. Wynn was helpful, but he's ... Wynn. You know?

He's Wynn all right. [He hits the pause button so he doesn't miss the middle of a Lorelei and Luke scene, and really you shouldn't question why the Bronx-accented raccoon is watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix.] I ain't been here long enough to get a feel for the place, myself. Mostly we go out and we fix people's problems and I get to shoot things and/or blow 'em up, and then I come back and sit around here for awhile.

Have you blown up or shot a lot of ... people? [ Asked in a lilting, tight voice that tried to be cautious with his apparent SUPER AGGRESSIVE RACCOON PERSONALITY. Luckily, she's about as used to weird shit as you can get. ] I mean, I'm kind of starting to wonder if that's the go-to around here. Shoot first, questions later.

[ deadpan, disturbed he had to clarify: ] More than fifty percent of the time.

Oh yeah, definitely. [He unpauses the TV.] I mean I'd put a bullet in Christopher right now if he thinks he's gonna steal Lorelei away from Luke. Bastard.

[hacker]

You don't think that's kind of excessive? And ... hard on Lorelei? I mean, it's not like she has no say in this. [ Trying to pretend this is rooted in Gilmore Girls, but she's only fleetingly glancing at the TV. ]

Yeah, but Christopher screws her head around. He's got that dame in a vicegrip and she thinks she's doing what's best for her kid, but c'mon. Anybody can tell that guy's bad news. Luke, though? Luke gets her. He's her friend before he's anything. That means somethin'.

[....] And no, it ain't excessive. Have you seen some of the shit we have to deal with? I fought off three krutackin' beholders.

Okay, sure. So beholders are one thing. But Christopher's just some dude. And so are plenty of the people you guys must run across in missions. They're people. You can't tell me your first instinct is to show up, guns blazing, without even thinking twice.

Okay. One? My first instinct is not everybody else's first instinct, so I have been told 'Rocket, man, keep it cool.' And I have occasionally replied, 'Okay, man, whatever.' Second? It depends on what they've done and how pissed off I'm at. And third of all- [He glances back at the screen.] OH C'MON, LUKE, YOU OWE HER MORE THAN THAT, YOU PUTZ. Flark, man. What is wrong with Terran television?

Sorry, rewind. Did you just say Terran?

[ She whipped her head over to stare wide-eyed at Rocket. Only one person she knows has ever said that to her before. ]

Yeah, yeah. It's what we call Earth in space, 'cause it sounds better. I've heard that question before. [He's still staring at the TV like he can't believe what just happened and meanwhile Netflix is kindly asking him if he's still alive as the credits roll.]

[hacker]

No. [ She grabbed the remote and pressed pause, grabbing his little raccoon shoulder to look over at her. ] I know what it means. Quill uses it.

[beatupgrass]

[annnd he squints at her darkly.] How d'you know Quill?

[DOES HE REMEMBER YOU?????]

We were brought in on the same mission. When the Milano crashed, I was the first one on the scene. I helped the Knights recover it. Honestly, I was kinda hoping he was an alien, but ... [ A grin bursts out of her. ] You really are, aren't you?

[beatupgrass]

In that I don't come from this planet, yeah. [He hears all of that and just looks grim and disgusted. STUPID PETER.] All the crap that's normal around here and y'all still get all tickled over aliens.

[hacker]

Are you kidding me? We're talking close encounters here. But ... [ She deflates. ] They talked about Peter's friends out in Mexico. You're not from this side of the Veil, are you?

[beatupgrass]

Assumin' the big gaps in my memory ain't from drunken blackouts, yeah. [He makes a discontent hissing noise.] Quill's never met me.

[hacker]

Any theories on how that's even possible? Ruling out the obvious you lying possibility on account of it not making sense since you and Carol knew him before he even landed?

[beatupgrass]

If I had any theories, I wouldn't be watchin' Luke and Lorelei tapdance around their relationship issues. [he points at the TV accusingly and wow that sounded really gay. #nohomo.]

[hacker]

So this is all some weird analogy for tapdancing around your own relationship issues. [ She gestures vaguely to him. ]

[quiet animal growl] People tell me it's healthier than shootin' things.

Well, people are right about that. But you know traditionally, you can just talk to people about this stuff too. I mean, think about how much stuff in— [ She gestured to the TV. ] Gilmore Girls would go over better if they'd just talk to each other.

What exactly am I supposed to say? We didn't exactly have the greatest first meetin' back then, and I don't know how to recreate the exact situation that made us decide to be pals.

[I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS. IT WOULDN'T BOTHER ME EXCEPT THIS PERSON IS ALREADY SUPPOSED TO BE MY FRIEND.] So I don't even know how to act around him.
