[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

I don't know what language you're speaking but I think I'm a fan.

They take a potato, and they hollow it out and stuff it with cheeses - four, to be precise. Then they take the two halves of the potato and put them back together again, fry it to get it going, then pull them out of the fryer, bread them, and then dump them back in the fryer again. It is like an explosion of flavors in your mouth.

[Shawn holds out his hands to be like "dude let's go" before making his way around the counter to the cabinets.]

Got potatoes. [ dean opens some cupboards as well, and then the fridge door ] It matter what kind of cheeses?

So long as there are four, I don't think it matters.

[... No, that's really not all that matters but Shawn isn't thinking about the disaster that could come with not using a Mexican blend.

Shawn is just going to search the cupboards of his own and see if he can find a deep fryer and cooking oil (search 18).]

[ hell yeah he can. dean starts stacking up cheeses enthusiastically. ] This is gonna rock.

You know it.

[He pulls out the fryer and oil and starts to set it up and warm it up so all they have to do is pop them in the fryer. He will then move on to breadcrumbs and toothpicks so that they can keep the potatoes together on the first go while they fry them.]

[ he got a 17 craft cooking check so??? he is very??? helpful??? ] Dean. [ he'll even extend a hand for a manly shake. ] Winchester.

[Shawn turns and shakes his hand with a nod.]

[Since Dean gave his full name and all. Shawn's cooking skills aren't exactly made for Master Chef, but he knows this recipe enough to get it done (craft 12). And he knows it well enough to do some chatting as he goes.]

Depends on what you mean by 'awhile'. They brought me in last year to hunt a doppelganger. I wound up signing up.

[That's mostly an impressed what about the doppelganger thing. He has no idea that doppelgangers as a species, he's mostly just focusing on the 1993 movie Doppelganger with Drew Barrymore (pop culture 24).]

So was it like a Drew Barrymore-George Newbern kind of situation or are we talking more of a Journey to the Far Side of the Sun kind of thing with mirror-Earths and evil doubles?

I'm talking about the monsters that shapeshift and walk around stealin' people's faces to get their kicks.

[There's a moment as Shawn considers that because wait those are actually a thing here?!?!?!?!?! but he'll keep that kind of surprise off his face as he works on his end of the quatros quesos dos fritos (will save 24).]

Are there are lot of monsters like that? The ones that take people's faces?

Lucky for most people, those are pretty few and far between. There's magic that can do it, but real shapeshifters... you don't run into those often.

[He nods for a moment, then pauses.]

If they just look like normal people, how would you know if you ran into them?

Generally? You wouldn't. But they slip up sometimes.

Usually when they're about to murder you and steal your life?

[He can hazard a guess.]

Yeah, well, the problem is they're also mind readers.

How effective at mimicry are they? I mean, it takes an artist of considerable skill to mimic all of this.

[And he will gesture to himself to indicate as such. The doppelganger will have to be willing to be completely ridiculous at all times and have absolutely zero shame.]

Experts. It's what they do, and they have a ball getting as good at it as they can.

Despite appearances, they're pretty rare on a good day.
