[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions: Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask! Mmm, bribery, he likes it. Tequila for breakfast, he also likes it. Slowly and still begrudgingly, he sits up, rubbing his eyes before stifling a yawn behind the back of his hand.

"I'm no expert, but maybe, I dunno, duck." He can be worried and an ass at the same time. It's his superpower.

But look at this face, you can't be mad at this face.

She can absolutely be mad at that face. Her eyes narrow a bit, glaring back at him before passing him one of the cupcakes with a sigh.

"Happy birthday, asshole."

Said with all of the love in the world, of course.

She's sending him mixed signals here. Calling him an asshole and giving him a cupcake. You're the reason he is such a dick, Malina, stop giving him positive reinforcement!

JK don't stop.

He takes the cupcake and peels off the wrapper. "It's almost like you care, Malina."

"Man, all I have to do is give you a cupcake and booze once a year and that proves I care?" She raises her eyebrows before turning back to look at the wall across from them again. "Man, I have really been trying to hard. I'm totally going to start slacking."

"Yeah, yeah, fuck off." But he laughs because they both know that's not going to happen. Malina is too good to just give up on her friends, even if it's small stuff like birthdays and chasing them down to New York.

Speaking of. "I got you something."

He motions to the decent sized bag on his desk. Inside there is a very beautiful prayer rug worked from green and blue cloth, stitched with silver and gold. It's extra beautiful because Ramadan is in summer this year and that...

That deserves a beautiful rug.

She swipes a finger through the icing of her cupcake before getting to her feet and making her way closer as she licks it off. The cupcake goes down on the desk and she checks to make sure her fingers are clean, before pulling it out of the bag.

Her jaw drops a little as she holds it out in front of her and it takes her a moment before she finally speaks. "Holy shit, this is gorgeous."

He's smugly proud of his gift giving ability. That is the perfect kind of response, frankly, from speechless to swearing.

"Yeah? I thought so." He shrugs, like it ain't no thang. "I got it in the city, before I headed back."

Malina nods with a small smile, before turning to face him with a nod. "Thank you." And that is sincere, because it does mean a lot to her. She's going to put it back on the desk, however, because she wants it to be clear of the icing and tequila so it doesn't get ruined.

"Is giving me gifts on your birthday going to become a new tradition?"

"Only when Ramadan is in summer and you deserve a gift on my birthday." So no, no it shan't. But considering Gus doesn't care about gifts, aside from the tequila he's cracking open, probably yes, it shall.

"You bring glasses or are we drinking straight from the bottle?"

She nods as she makes her way back over, reaching for the box that the cupcakes were in and pulling out two shot glasses. There may be a little bit of icing on them, but she will just run her fingers along the edges to clean that up nice and quick.

"There you go."

"Thanks, Harvey, what would I do without you?"

Pass his birthday without acknowledgment probably. Once he has the shot glasses, he fills them up and passes one to her.

"To me."

Down the hatch!

"Cheers."

She tosses hers down as well, wincing just slightly at the burn, before she leans back against the headboard and settles in comfortably.

"So. What's on the agenda for today?"

"Hopefully nothing, followed by nothing, maybe a nap, then more nothing, followed by blowjobs." On that note, he might start texting Alex, trading the shot glass for the phone on the nightstand.

"I'm sure we can fit in whatever plan you have in there."

She chuckles softly at that, before nodding her agreement. "The plans are fluid at the moment, but I can promise that I will have you back in time for your birthday happy ending."

"You're the best." Truth, tbh. Malina is definitely the best. The best best friend for Gus specifically.

She smirks for a moment, before nodding. "My pleasure. Now get your ass out of bed so we can have coffee and actual food before we take on the world." As much as she is a fan of tequila-cupcake breakfasts, they're going to need some protein.

GROAN.

He recants his affection for her. But he also rolls out of bed and strides to the closet to change his boxer briefs and, you know, put pants and a shirt on. Whateves. He's not going to look much better than jeans and a tee shirt.

"You're now the worst."

"But you love me," she laughs, before making her way to the door. "And you love my pancakes." Mostly because she's somehow managed to work out the magical balance to get them both large and fluffy. It's very important to the integrity of the pancake. "So I'll see you downstairs in ten minutes?"

"Ten minutes." Just enough time to wash his face and put shoes on, tbh. Malina is right, though. He does love her pancakes and he's going to eat them all.
