[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. The Holy Roman Church just lost their favorite soldier. I wouldn't worry about them for a while.

There's plenty more where that came from. They've got a long memory, and they pack a helluva grudge.

So I've seen. [ Mysteriously knowing nod. ] You really think Heaven or Hell would come after him? I mean, Hell has him—or a him—and why would Heaven care?

What, you think it was a coincidence, Gayl showin' up the way she did?

... Well, I did. [ But obviously Dean doesn't so now she's actually. Thinking about it. ]

Here's a tip. There ain't no such thing.

Have you talked with Sam about what's worrying you?

... And? What did he have to say about it? [ She can't help but mark his absence from the table. ]

I told him Iscariot came after him before. The other him. He gets what that might mean if they find him again. You think they're gonna give him the benefit of the doubt? They're less likely than I was to wanna hear what he has to say, and you saw how that went.

[slay]

I've dealt with Iscariot before. Frequently. I'm not the only one, either. If they go after Sam, we'll be able to protect him. You know that, right?

They sent, what? One guy after you?

[slay]

They sent their regenerating immortal after us. More than once.

[ But snideness doesn't help. ]

Once, to kidnap us, and bring us back to their leader in the Vatican for execution. That was with two people who don't even have the title to go with everything they do for this Knighthood. Believe me. We can put Iscariot down, if they come after one of our own.

Yeah, well, good for you, but I'm not gonna count on other Knights always being around, if there's something else I can do to make it likely they won't find him in the first place.

[ She studies him for a moment, then reaches over to take one of the books he has stacked. ]

Gimme that.

[ And she flips it open to start helping him dig into anti-scrying spells, because prevention is hard to argue. Especially with Finnick in the state he's in. ]

[ he gives her a look like he's waiting for her to say something else, but then he just accepts it and shuts his mouth, and turns back to his own book. ] You don't have to be able to cast magic to do an incantation, if you find one that's legit.

[slay]

[ well, nobody's perfect, you gotta work it, aka buffy's research check was 9. so as she's thumbing through, she understands about half of what she's reading, and the rest is useless latin. actually this could be exactly the right book and she wouldn't know, so she's just making faces at it like werwatey. ]

[ dean notices eventually, and looks over, watching her make funny faces before he finally speaks up. ] I'm guessing this part's not really your forte.

[slay]

The magic or the research? [ Her nose scrunches, indicating that the answer might be both. ] I'm sorry, I just ... I'm just distracted is all. [ She drops her hand to the center of the volume and sighs. ]

By what? [ there's a cautious edge to his voice like he's worried she'll start dumping out love life problems or something on him, but just in case this is actually relevant to his life, he figures he should ask ]

Something happened to one of the Knights who's been on my team since ... I mean, for years. [ She shakes her head. ] I just keep wracking my brain for a way to get him back, but a psion got to him, and honestly ... I'm not sure a way exists.

[ to his credit, he doesn't flinch at the mention of his psionics, but he also averts his eyes and gets that middle-distance stare on of his ] There's always a way. Sometimes the answer's a lot uglier than the thing you're dealing with, though.
