[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

Yeah, what you're saying? All of that? That's theory. Nobody has proof of any of it. And the idea that there's multiple shadow worlds at all is brand new, let alone parallel universes. For a long time, people were only coming from Faerun.

[airforceful]

And you're saying I'm the first person who has proof of all that? Come on. [She waves a hand vaguely towards the rest of the castle.] I'm not even the first person from my universe to make it here. I mean, judging from how freakishly tall Logan is, he's probably not from 616, but he has to have met a double or two. The multiverse is crawling with Wolverines. And Deadpool-- [She pauses, thinks about what she's about to say, then finishes:] Never mind, don't talk to Deadpool. I still don't know why Wynn even hired him.

Yeah, that double-back you're doing? That's the double-back of my point proving itself. My point is, even if people here do know about it? They're not sharing it with the wider world.

[airforceful]

Maybe because we don't want to be treated like science experiments. [Carol shrugs a shoulder.] I've told the scientists here what I know, but I also have a responsibility to punch bad guys in the face, and I can do a lot more good with that. I'm not going to waste time going on talk shows or podcasts or whatever to talk about something I don't even really remember.

It's not about you, it's about finding the truth. The more we know about the Veil, the better chance we have of predicting the Eldritch Tide. Maybe even of sending people home one day. Not everyone who got pulled here wants to stay.

[Carol's jaw tightens, and the look she gives Skye is pretty clearly frustrated. She doesn't like being lectured. She likes even less that she really doesn't feel like there's anymore she can do about it than she has done. Maybe if she'd come through the veil a year earlier than she did, maybe if she'd found a way to save New York that didn't involve blowing out the contents of her brains that one time, maybe if all kinds of things that didn't happen had happen. But wasting time on what ifs wouldn't bring her memories back, and right now all she had was the objective knowledge that she'd traveled to different dimensions and met versions of herself. She'd read the files the Avengers had on her, but that's not the same as living it. And that empty space in her head is as frustrating as everything else.]

So write a damn blog post about it. You know as much as I do now.

[ And Skye looks equally frustrated, because she basically promised Wynn, Malina, and Elena that she wouldn't leak anything from the Knighthood through Rising Tide channels. So she balls her hands into fists and shakes her head. ]

It's not you. I know. It's ... It's this place. All the secrecy. I get some of it, okay, Wynn needs to keep his Knights safe, but this? This is exactly the kind of thing the Rising Tide is about. Exposing the truth that organizations with the power are keeping for themselves.

[airforceful]

[Carol sighs, letting some of her frustration leak out. It's not a new argument for her, and honestly, in the past she's been more on the side of keeping secrets open.]

Look, if it helps? Up until I saw Quill I honestly had no idea there were doppelgangers from this world. Usually it's much more of an all or nothing situation, and they usually show up way faster.

[hacker]

You think maybe it's different here somehow? [ Now she's chewing on that. ]

[airforceful]

[She tilts her head.] Hard to say. There's a lot that's different about this world than anything else I've experienced. The memory loss aspect, for one thing, and how ingrained the idea of people showing up here and never going home is.

The Veil's a one-way street. That's just being realistic.

[airforceful]

In this world it is. In most of the others I know about they either had no idea it was even possible before it happened, or travel between worlds was as common as airplane rides. Like I said. This place is different.

Or it just doesn't have that kind of tech yet. Do you know how any of it works?

[airforceful]

I wish. [She shrugs a shoulder.] Reed Richards--he's a scientist from my world--has explained it to me before, but it just sounded like technobabble to me.

Yeah, science-y types have a way of doing that.
